I wasn't aware this was a webtoon when I started reading. I love that the book is not your typical panel by panel comic. The art is great, the story is fun, and the letters are easy to read and do not hide any art. I think that my students will really enjoy this. So many new books are still just Batman comics, which I love, but it is nice to see other characters get attention too.

I am a huge Static fan, but this book didn't quite connect with me. I don't think it's the book's fault. I suspect I'm in the wrong demographic to experience it properly.

I love stories about underappreciated heroes, and Virgil makes it easy to root for him. Everyone can relate to this story. Gorgeous artwork as well!

My favorite part was when Richie was sat back, crossed-leg, on his laptop having a hack-off in the middle of a super-powered fight.

This was cute, but a little bit boring and a little bit all over the place. Had some great comedic moments, but the story just wasn't gripping. The fourth-wall break at the beginning and end was unnecessary and amateurish.

TW: kleptomania, rats and bugs, cardiac arrest, police brutality, abduction and captivity, gun violence

Perfectly fine story, albeit a little generic, but the post-credits scene was awesome and gave this an extra star.

This was a super cute comic about Static, Rocket and Gear. It was low stakes but fun, dealing with very relatable issues in a fun super hero world.

Static is one of my all time favorite superheroes so this was so much fun to read. The show in particular holds a soft spot for me, so it was fun to read about him and Richie!

This was a fun and fairly lighthearted story and I like how it just got right in to the story with just a brief introduction to Static/Virgil and his origin story. I also love how Virgil's intelligence is just as helpful as his superpowers. The references to other DC heroes (Batman and Black Lightning) was also hilarious and made me laugh every time.

Thank you to NetGalley for making this available in exchange for an honest review!

This was an interesting take on Virgil, the hero Static's teenage years. I really liked all of the characters in this and the story was really good! I grew up watching the Static Shock cartoon and I really felt like this was a good comparison. I will for sure be reading more of this series when it comes out!

This graphic novel was a lot of fun to read. I had never read anything by this author before, but I will definitely be looking out for more of their works in the future. I can't wait to add it to my library's collection.

A fun addition to the Static canon. I will be adding to our library's recommendation list for graphic novels.

Thank you to NetGalley, DC Entertainment, DC Comics, and Lamar Giles for the opportunity to read this comic in exchange for an honest review.

Static: Up All Night is a new DC Comic featuring Static Shock with some familiar faces and some new. This comic feels like an "intro to the character" type of story but also has a familiar feel to Static and his life.

In this volume, Static faces girlfriend and friendship challenges. He works with other super heroes to take down a renown gang of bad dudes. There is a side story featuring a famous rapper that feels a bit out-of-place at times.

It was hard for me to get into, but it had some merit to it. I feel like there were too many characters with too much going on. but it also had some classic Static feel between his actions as a hero and his help from Rich. Overall, a good volume.

As fan of the Static Shock cartoon, I was really excited to receive this ARC! I loved the updates that gave it more of a modern twist, and enjoyed the story's plot lines of exploring life outside of being a hero and accepting that being part of a hero's life isn't for everyone. I would recommend this to other Static and comic book fans!

This is a fun, teenage superhero romp for new comic readers. Giles story is a great "all in one night" adventure for the four superpowered teenagers who just wanted a night away from being heroes. The best part for readers is that you do not have to be familiar with Static, or the DC universe in general, to understand the story and all of its elements. However, upon completion, readers will be excited for what else the author and artist have in store for these characters.

Static Shock is for the people.

Giles' does an excellent job staying true to the original spirit of the show while providing a fresh-feeling story. Hope this means we can expect more.

I grew up on the Static Shock cartoon and am so pleased to see it is getting new life for a new generation. I love the updates (inclusion of "the 'gram", BLM, etc.) and the modern look of the characters. Really excited to see if I can include it in my library!

Virgil Hawkins is having girlfriend trouble. After he reveals his secret identity as Static to her, things go well, but she gets tired of the hero routine and breaks up with him. Heartbroken, Virgil and his best friend and fellow hero Richie go to a music concert, but his ex is there with another guy. He tries to get over it, but causes a blackout when defending a fellow hero. Can Virgil save the day?

A new look into the superhero Static's teenage life, dealing with being a superhero, heartbreak, and more! Virgil Hawkins is a superhero, he's Static, and he's got abilities over electricity. Juggling being a hero and having a relationship is not easy, so when his girlfriend breaks up with him, he decides to go to a music festival with his best friend... but there is his ex as well as so much other trouble. Now Virgil will have to find a way to mend his broken heart and maintain role as a hero! This was a really fun modern day look into the classic hero, I use to watch the show when I was a kid and couldn't help but want to read the comic when DC had it up! It was a fun modern take on it and I think a lot of people will enjoy getting to see Static!

*Thanks Netgalley and DC Entertainment, DC Comics for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
