Into the Woods uses nature to make crafts and science projects. The book begins with a little lesson in trees and the parts of trees. The projects are easy to follow. They lay out the materials needed and simple steps. Recommended for students in grades 3-7

This is an informative picture book on type of forests. From their parts' desciption to types of forests in different regions, this book summarizes most of the basic knowledge. Pictures were good and so does the activities based on those. This craft work will help the young readers on making their art book fancy with lifelike cut-piece craft.

There is a teaching on Dendrochronology (or tree-ring dating) which children need to learn as this book started with longest surviving tree age. How season works and how they affect the plantation is also described well.

Overall, I liked this book as it revises the basics for children with nice illustrations.

I grabbed this book because we are entering the autumn season and I have a 4 and newly 7 year old at home. I thought that some nature crafts in our small town would be fun for them. This book has a handful of crafts and the majority of them don’t require purchasing extra supplies. There is also scientific information in this book written in an easy to understand way for the kids.

This work felt a little sparse. I would like to have seen more activities in the book, and I would have liked to have seen more science or child development supporting the activities. I will do them with my child, so I do think it is still a book worth checking out from the library to use, but I do not know that I fully recommend buying this title.

This short, colorful book will be great for teachers to use for planning Forest Friday activities in the outdoor classrooms. The craft ideas are easy to implement, can be done in a short amount of time, and appeal to a wide age range.

This is the sort of book you find in schools and libraries with basic information about trees and then simple crafts for kids to do on the theme. Crafts include cutting out paper evergreens, making a paper leaf mask to hold up with eye cutouts, making a papier-mâché mold of tree bark and making a collage forest.

The cover is a little miss leading with watercolors and older looking activities on the front of it. This is a book with fun tree facts. It has great ideas for pre-k/kindergarten age range. It would be good for Girl Scout and Boy Scouts that are just entering the troop.

Into the Woods is a fun and educational book full of information about trees and about a dozen small crafts for kids to learn with hands-on projects. The projects are great for kids of all ages, but are geared toward younger kids.

The book has a scrapbook feel to it, with lovely pictures, illustrations, lists, short paragraphs of info, and instructions for each of the projects. Excellent book for any library, classroom, or home!
