Like everything else I've read by Sariah Wilson I fell in love with this book from the very beginning. This is one that you won't be able to put down once you start it. I was laughing and crying the entire time I was reading it. I loved that it had Outlander vibes. I loved the chemistry between Maren and Duncan as well as Maren and Duncan's family. The ending has me hoping for more as I fell in love with all of the characters.

Very cheesy, very implausible, but ultimately pretty charming and easy reading.
It's a modern take on Brigadoon, where Americans Maren and Penny accidentally stumble across a magical Scottish village when trying to find out what happened to Maren's uncle who disappeared decades ago. The village only appears at random intervals, and while time marches on at a normal pace in the regular world, time is much slower in the magical village.
Maren instantly falls in love with the village's Laird, and I mean instantly. Love at first sight, indeed. They join in with the clan's holiday celebrations until it's time for Maren and Penny to return to the real world.
I don't so much mind the magical village where time doesn't pass, but it was inconsistent. The week they spend in the village was also a week they had been missing in the real world. Then, later, when Maren and Declan are reunited, it had been five days for him but eleven months for her. I don't care if it's magic, just make it consistent magic, you know?
That and the insta-love were too much for me, but I can see how this book could be enjoyed by the right audience. It's cute and heartwarming and full of cheer, just not for me.

Sweep yourself up in the Scottish Highlands in this amazing five-star read. I will be honest when I realised that it was a time travelling woman being magically swept up in time travel and finding the man of her dreams and living happily ever after, I wasn’t expecting much, as that’s the type of story I avoid, and by any other author I wouldn’t have bothered, but as it was Sariah Wilson I gave it a go, as they have a wonderful way of sweeping you into the story, twirling you round as they dance a jig. Highglen sounds amazing, and my brain has been sparking with story ideas where they could go with this one, but honestly even if they stop at just this one visit my heart would be full. You will care so deeply for all of the Campbells and the visitors to the glen, they will worm their way into your heart as you read each page.

This was a cute story with lots of festive feeling and traditions explored which I enjoyed. While I expect the romance to be quick in a novella, it was just far too rushed for my own personal taste in this book and made it hard to invest heavily in the relationship between the two Bain characters. I also felt the friendship between Maren and Penny was more tell than show the closeness and it did take a suspension of belief that they had almost no struggles adapting to 17th century Scotland in Winter.
Overall though I had fun reading this story and would recommend if you’re looking for something that feels festive without being overly Christmassy.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free arc of this novella in exchange for an honest review.

This was a sweet, fun Christmas novella with a time travel twist that I could totally see as a Hallmark movie!
Maren and her friend Penny are traveling in the Scottish Highlands when they are stranded after their car breaks down. While trying to find help they are transported to the village of Highglen in the past where she meets Duncan. The time travel aspect and the villagers knowledge of it were so well done. It was well thought out, so the details all fit nicely in the novella length story. This allowed for the focus to really be on Maren and Duncan falling for one another. Their romance is insta-love, and while that's normally not my favorite it worked here. I would have loved more from this world and these characters and hope Sariah writes more about Highglen someday!

Short, sweet, swoony, Christmassy... the perfect novella to kick off the cooler months and get ready for the holiday season! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this one in advance of publication.

This is an incredibly cute Christmas novella! Given it is short and chritmasy I was expecting a light story so I was pleasantly surprised by the emotional depth. While I am not sure I believe in love at first sight it worked for me in this story. I enjoyed Maren and Duncan’s connection and felt like it was deep even though it happened quickly. I loved how this book celebrated all kinds of love not just romantic love. This was my first read by Sariah Wilson but it won't be my last! Once I picked this one up I couldn’t put it down! A must add to your holiday season TBR!

I received a free copy of, Almost Like Being in Love, by Sariah Wilson, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Maren Kelly and her friend Penny are in a blizzard in Scotland, and are a wee bit lost. Maren meets Duncan who she falls in love with, but has to go back home to The US, to take care of her mother that is dying. So many emotions in this book. I really enjoyed Maren and Duncan, they are a great couple. This is a great Christmas novella.

Charming! This was a treat to read. I enjoyed the storyline and setting quite a bit. Would love to read more books set here. I thought it was well written and flowed well. Im not a super big fan of "insta love" but still enjoyed the romance and characters.

Sariah Wilson has done it again. She's an automatic read for me and this one doesn't disappoint.
What happens when a modern Ohio woman falls in love with a 17th century Scottish Highlander. A swooney time travel Christmas novella. I really enjoyed it!
Thank you to Sariah Wilson, Montlake and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

This was a fun holiday read!
I figured a book titled after a song from a musical had to be good, and I was totally right. The storyline was fun, the characters were adorable, and the writing was great.
I'd read this one again!

This book was so cute! So many times when fantasy melts into a story, it's not done well and many times, not believable. Sariah has created a story that is both believable and well written. Almost Like Being in Love is the story of Maren, a snowstorm, a castle and an attractive Highland hero. These characters draw you in and before long a beautiful story unfolds. A little bit of magic goes a long way to make this story swoony and a delight to read. From the beautiful scenery, to the characters, and the well written plot, this book will not disappoint.

Aside from the fact that I desperately want to re-watch Brigadoon now. (It’s been a very long time), I was both stressed and enchanted by this novel. As always, Sariah Wilson delivers the swooniest of heroes, and I really enjoyed this heroine.
Definitely a bit of a tear-jerker to go with the swooning, so bring the tissues.
Recommended, especially around the holidays.

I tried to like this one, I really did. But the insta-love, the accents, the time travel. It just wasn't for me.

I just had a hard time suspending my disbelief for this one. I like the premise of the magical village but I couldn't get into how quickly Maren and Duncan are in love (instantly) and how she's willing to get over all the major inconveniences of going back centuries. The ending saved it from being a lower rating but otherwise I struggled to connect to it

WONDERFUL! I love. Time travel romance but this wirtes a nes page in the genre. Very original plot and highly compelling characters, When I finished it I get the impression the real principal character is Love in all its forms. I highly recommend it.

Time travel books are not my usual pick but I have loved all of Sariah Wilson’s books. This was not my favorite of hers but I still really enjoyed it. It had me thinking about what I would do in the same situation. Fun characters and definitely a slight twist to the time travel trope.

Every modern girl needs a 17th century Highlander to get her into the spirit of Christmas! If this magical, swoon worthy, love story doesn’t warm your heart then nothing will.
Our hero is chivalrous, romantic, and talented in more ways than our heroine can count. Will their love span the test of time or will it all disappear when the clock chimes midnight on the seventh day? Grab a blanket and some coco, snuggle in and find out! You won’t regret spending Christmas in Scotland.

This was the first book I have read by Sariah Wilson and I’ll definitely be reading more. This book was great I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The plot definitely kept my interest and couldn’t put it down until I finished it.

Maren Kelly and her friend Penny are lost somewhere in the Scottish Highlands in the middle of the blizzard of the century when their car suddenly dies. It's Maren's dying mother's wish for her to experience the magic of the Scottish Highlands, and lo-and-behold, Brigadoon style, a handsome Scottish stranger, Duncan Campbell, comes along to rescue them.
This was a cute story, but Maren's ability to just believe she was in a magic fairy tale felt forced to me. I didn't really get a good feel for the characters, so it was a little harder for me to get into. But if you're in the mood for something fantastical with the holiday spirit, you might enjoy this one!
