Lots of crossed wires and red herrings in this book as we try and work out whodunit.

When Clio's EX, Gary turns up dead outside her caravan, in her hungover state she struggles to take it all in. She maintains her innocence but what really did happen the night Gary was killed.

Fortunately Clio has amazing friends, the ones you call when you need find a body.

An enjoyable read.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.

Clio finds her husband (separated but not divorced, so the title says ex but he’s technically still her husband) dead on her front steps after a night of drinking. She doesn’t think she killed him, but isn’t certain.

Starting this book gave me Finlay Donovan vibes. It diverted from that idea (mild spoiler alert: because they called the police rather than trying to cover up the murder) but it seems to be similar main characters.

I’m not sure how I felt about having multiple main characters/narrators who provide quite a bit of backstory. I felt there was a lot going on and some things should have been fleshed out more or maybe there were just too many coincidences to be believable.

This book held my attention from the beginning; I finished this in a day. It was a bit predictable but still an enjoyable read.

Pacy, funny, heartwarming and a terrific read. Loved the different points of view, loved the supporting characters and LOVE (spoilers) that this appears to be the launch of a new series (YES!).

Highly recommended and agreed, this is perfect if you loved Bad Sisters, like I did.

Book Review 📚
How Not To Murder Your Ex by Katie Marsh - 4/5 ⭐

Let's be honest, we all read the title and was like "yup, I need to read this"! Who needs to read the description or blurb when you've got a title that makes the decision for you?! So yes, I went in blind and I was pleasantly surprised.

Firstly, there's so much suspense throughout the book which was absolutely amazing! It's not just humour but suspense and mystery as well. A very nice touch from Marsh. I cannot fault the characters, I absolutely adored them all. They were perceived exactly as they should be and I love how well they all work together. The bounce off eachother and blend so naturally.

Marsh done a fantastic job in keeping us on our toes, the WHOLE way through. I was questioning every single person and every single motive. It was far from predictable. It's an easy read, I had it done in a matter of days. It helps that it was a book your unable to put down!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

This was a great lengthy story which i still managed to read in just 2 days. It had me in suspense right up until the end with a very surprising twist. Very well written, so much so that I would definitely read more by this author. It was surely a book proving that girls should stick together “Girl Power”. Lots of believable characters which i could certainly see them all coming together for a second book!!

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

2.5 STARS ROUNDED UP TO 3

I unfortunately can't say I really loved this one, and never really got into it. Only the very last few chapters made the characters grow on me, but I didn't really care for the story. It's not bad, but I wasn't really feeling it either.

In The Frame..
Clio has a pretty big problem. Not just the hangover and the hazy recollections of the night before the morning after. Nope. Something much bigger, as there’s a dead man decorating the doorstep of her caravan. And worse, the dead man is her ex husband. Worse - only because now she is in the frame for murder. The prime suspect in fact. Clio insists that she did not do the deed and, if that is correct, then who did? Clio and her pals soon team up to find a killer. Wholly enjoyable and entertaining, laced with dark humour and a plot populated with a larger than life cast, this is a perfect get away from it all read which will keep the reader turning the pages until the very last word.

"How Not to Murder Your Ex" by Katie Marsh is a darkly comedic and engaging mystery that combines elements of suspense and humour to create an entertaining read. The story begins with an intriguing premise as Clio, a single mother struggling to make ends meet after her ex-husband Gary's betrayal, wakes up on her forty-fifth birthday to find Gary dead on her doorstep. With a foggy memory of the previous night's events and a history of animosity between them, Clio becomes the prime suspect in Gary's murder.

Katie Marsh skilfully weaves a tale filled with suspense, quirky characters, and witty dialogue. Clio's character is relatable and endearing, and readers will root for her as she navigates the chaos that unfolds after the murder. The interactions between Clio and her two best friends, Amber and Jeanie, add depth to the story and provide moments of humour and camaraderie.

As the plot unfolds, the author cleverly introduces various suspects and motives, keeping readers guessing about the true identity of the murderer. The novel also delves into themes of friendship, betrayal, and the lengths people will go to protect the ones they love.

While the mystery aspect is intriguing, it is the humour and camaraderie among the characters that make "How Not to Murder Your Ex" stand out. The witty banter and the dynamics between Clio and her friends provide comic relief, balancing the tension of the murder investigation.

In conclusion, "How Not to Murder Your Ex" is an enjoyable and light-hearted murder mystery that will appeal to fans of both the mystery and humour genres. Katie Marsh has crafted a compelling story with memorable characters and plenty of twists and turns to keep readers entertained from start to finish.

This was an easy read, with a bit of humour in it. Its less than 300 pages with short chapters so it was very quick read.

Amber was a pretty kick ass character but I found Jeanie and Clio a bit whiney. I also worked out the murder pretty early on.

This was still enjoyable and good if you're after a cosy murder mystery. 3.5 stars rounded up go 4.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book for an honest review.

I really hate to say this - but I DNF'd this book with 100 pages left. I was hoping for a really good cozy mystery and I got more confusion than anything. There were way too many characters in this book and I couldn't keep them all straight. They all had their own secrets, which would have worked out fine if there weren't 5 main characters with their own family/main people involved in their story lines.

I found myself finding mistypes in the ARC itself - there was a time that the wrong name was written in regards to the character that they were referring to. This is indeed an ARC so I'm not holding that against the author but I was just bored and confused.

I ended up skipping to who the murderer was because we kept getting random splurges of information but it just didn't make any sense and kept me confused more than anything.

I'm not sure if this is a debut book, but it sure felt like it.

Clio had quite a night celebrating her birthday. So when she wakes on the beach with no memory of the night before, she's not too concerned. Until she returns home to find the dead body of her awful ex husband on her front step. . .

This is such a brilliant and fun mystery, set in a small town full of secrets. The characters were brilliant and the twist was gripping. Can't wait for more!

This was more of a cosy crime story than I was expecting from the cover and title, but I love the genre so that wasn’t a bad thing! This was a fun, fast-paced story with an interesting group of characters; how refreshing to see a group of middle-aged women take starring roles and be so strong, wise and confident! I enjoyed the way the book was written from different points of view, particularly the Gary chapters which really added some refreshing humour to the story. There’s huge potential for further stories here and I’d definitely like to read more about the Bad Girls!

I picked up How Not to Murder Your Ex on Wednesday evening and finished it on Friday:) It's a funny, fast read that instantly engages the reader and doesn't let them go until the resolution to the mystery is uncovered.

We have four main characters. Gary, who is quite frankly, an a**hole - and the 'Ex' in the title. Clio, his wife, who should be his ex-wife, but she won't divorce him until he parts with the cash he owes her. Jeanie who is one of Clio's two best friends, a 'new' but 'older' mum of IVF twins, struggling to find herself amongst the chaos of caring for two small children. And Amber, an angry ex-copper. She has a point to prove with her old 'Boss', and this, somehow, becomes the perfect opportunity.

While we hear the details of the last 24 hours of Gary's life, this thread of the story is interspersed with details of the three women as they try to come to terms with and then find the answers to how Gary turned up dead on Clio's step at 5.30 am.

The book is stuffed with humour - some gentle, some not so gentle, as our three friends seem to veer from one disaster to another, in their quests to rediscover themselves.

A fast-paced, funny novel, sure to delight readers.

This was more of a cozy mystery and so much fun! I loved the 3 friends and their investigating minds. There was a lot good commentary on motherhood and some of the challenges associated. I did not see the twist at the end coming, and I really enjoyed the story. A good read, enjoyable! Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for the ARC!

Devoured this in 24 hours! An easy read. Likable characters (besides love-to-hate Narcissistic Gary who ends up dead on page 2). I wished for a better resolution for Clio (spoiler here maybe) -
Such as getting a life insurance payout from Gary, or getting money from Rajiv (via Amber) for reinstating his “stolen” fortune.
I liked this book, thanks to NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for my review.

For fans of Finlay Donovan.... I loved this book! A mom who strikes back and holds her own is an inspiration in itself. Relatable as a mom at times and totally loved the plot! Great read!!

No this is not a self help book giving you advice on how not to murder an ex who has wronged you. This is a fun quirky cozy mystery book that was a delight to read.
Our main character Clio finds her most-hated ex lying dead on her doorstep. This was no accident. It was murder. She is the prime suspect as her ex did her wrong and she is the most obvious choice. Now Clio needs to solve the murder before the cops decide she's guilty. Who killed her ex?
This was a quick read that I enjoyed a lot. It's definitely a cozy mystery that you won't want to pass up. It kept me engaged the entire time as I tried to figure out who did it. Spoiler alert, I got it wrong.

What would you do if you blacked out and came home to your ex, dead at your doorstep? Clio and her friends take us on a fun and wild ride trying to solve this case. Definitely three badass women I’d want on my side. Think of Rockford files with a bit of Murder, She Wrote.
Definitely recommend this one!
Thank you NetGalley for ARC.
