Thank you NetGalley for the advanced audio copy of this novel! The River Runs South by Audrey Ingram and narrated by Megan Tusing is a family drama which begins with the sudden death of Camille’s husband. While most women in her circumstances would rather curl up in a ball and shut the world out, Camille doesn’t have that luxury. Being the mother of a 6 year old, she has to hold it together and keep moving forward. When her parents encourage her to come home for the summer, she rediscovers her love for the state in which she grew up. Through a series of events, she learns to trust, love and live again. The story was, at times, very touching and I felt Camille’s pain over losing her husband. At other times, I found the story seems to drag on and got to be a bit too descriptive. Overall, a good story but I’m not likely to listen to it or read it again in the future.

I will admit that I was truly enthralled with this book! However, I only got about halfway thru it when it was removed from my netgalley app and I could no longer access it. This was one of the very best books I’ve read in a long time, so not being able to finish it was a giant letdown.
This was a story that demonstrated Ms Ingrams ability to truly delve into love and loss, and discovering the things that truly matters in life. The characters showed incredible depth, and I was deeply pulled into the characters lives. I would have loved to do an in depth review for my blog but can’t do this as I can’t complete the last half of the book. I didn’t get it completed before it was archived. However, I would absolutely recommend this book! I’ll give a 5 star for what I got to read!
Thank you, Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, for the privilege of reading and listening to books in exchange for an honest review.

This one is a feel good story. She gets closer to her family again. Finds a way to be a great mom to her daughter. Then she finds love on top of that. Oh, and she saves her father’s business too. Just a cute story.

The River Runs South is a sweet love story about a woman trying to rebuild after her world is turned upside down.

Camille has to save her parents from losing everything but struggles when she finds her heart opening to the man trying to take it all away.
I enjoyed this sweet love story! The beginning of the book grabbed my interest and I found my heart breaking for Camille. I loved all of the characters in this small town story. The River Runs South is perfect for fans of Southern Fiction. The setting is beautiful and I felt like I had been transported to the Alabama coast. Some of tropes in this novel include; homecoming, small town romance, forbidden love and family drama. The novel also includes commentary on the importance of protecting our natural environment that will appeal to those who love the outdoors.
The River Runs South is a great pick for fans of small town romance or Southern Fiction, especially those that have watched Sweet Alabama more times than they can count.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this novel! I would classify this as a slow, family drama with a feel good story. It’s about Camille and her daughter who move back home to Alabama after the sudden death of her husband. While they try to pick up the pieces of their lives, they have the support of Camille’s parents and a newfound friend in Mack. Soon, Camille starts to see Mack as more than a friend. Is her heart ready to love again? Just when she starts to think so, she discovers a law suit has been filed against her father and Mack is involved. Will they be able to work together to fix the one thing keeping them apart? Overall, I enjoyed this story. Not my typical read but enjoyable nonetheless.

The pain at the start of this book felt so real that I almost gave up right at the beginning because I needed something lite, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. I loved the finding love again between the two MC and the small Alabama town.

Overall, I enjoyed The River Runs South by Audrey Ingram narrated by Megan Tusing. (** spoiler alert ** ahead). A little predictable and everything went a little to perfectly for Camille besides her husband dying. She has this perfect little daughter who eats everything and is amicable with all situations. Seriously! How lucky did Camille get with this kid? It doesn't seem realistic, honestly. I have three kids. I don't know any kid like that personally. Also Camille has two guys fawning over her. She seemed to get over her husband pretty quickly. It wasn't a deep story but entertaining. The narrator was great.
Huge thanks to Netgalley and to the publisher for the advanced copy of the audiobook. #netgalley #TheRiverRunsSouth

Loved this story and the audiobook was wonderful. This story captured me and I finished it within a few sittings. I loved the small town feel but that the main focus wasn’t LOVE but GROWTH and FAMILY LOVE. Closed door scenes but a great story

Camille's life is pretty perfect. She is a partner in a DC law firm, she loves her husband and their daughter. When her husband dies suddenly, her life is turned upside down. After struggling for a few months, she decides that she needs to return home to Alabama for the summer to cope. Camille couldn't wait to leave Alabama as a teenager, but now that she is back and showing the places of her childhood to her own daughter, she starts to appreciate the beauty. She heals all while falling in love with Alabama.
This is a story of overcoming grief and learning to live again. And it was not done in a heavy and depressing way.
Willa is the star of the book. She is very well written and age appropriate- it is a pet peeve of mine when this is not the case. Authors often make kids far younger than their supposed age. Not the case with this one!
Megan Tusing narrates the audiobook and does a good job.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

The River Runs South is a beautiful story about grief, family, and fighting for what's right. Following the FMC's husband's untimely death, we follow her journey through grief. The grief leads her back home to Alabama with her family who help support her and her 6 year old daughter Willa through such a life altering, tragic event. While there, she finds herself battling not only grief, but defending her parents in preserving the land she loved growing up.
This debut novel is a beautiful love story to the beauty of the south. It not only has a strong focus on the importance of preserving the land but also the wonderful food culture the south offers. Many times I found myself craving some of the foods it referenced like the shrimp boil and hush puppies. It was a very nostalgic read for me! I am so grateful to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the audiobook. Megan Tusing did a great job narrating! I'm hoping Audrey included some delicious recipes in the print copy. A wonderful novel!

This is my first read by Audrey Ingram and I find her words ones that those who have lost loved ones will understand and relate. I had the pleasure of both reading the book and listening to the wonderful narration by Megan Tusing. Megan did a fabulous job of pulling you into the story and keeping you there until the end.
Brief synosis: When Camille Taylor’s husband dies unexpectedly, the carefully constructed life she's worked so hard to build in Washington, DC, shatters. After struggling for almost a year, she reaches a breaking point, packs up her daughter, and heads for the Alabama coast where she grew up.
The salt air and slow rhythms of the coast soothe Camille’s spirit, but when she meets local fisherman Mack Phillips, she learns that things have changed in her hometown. Runoff from an abandoned development site is polluting the water, and Mack has brought a suit against the site’s owners—Camille’s father among them.
My thoughts: Having suddenly lost her husband, Camille is floundering. She is having trouble focusing at her job and she feels like she is failing her little girl. She packs up and moves home to Fairhope for a few weeks. It is not suppose to be a long visit, just time away to get her bearings. Soon meets a local fisherman, Mack Phillips. But, things are not as they seem and Mack is a mortal enemy of her father.
Ingram did an excellent job of portraying true human emotions in a way that I could feel them in my heart. I have not lost a husband but I did lose adaughter at 23 in a car accident. I forced myself to get back to work just like she did. I had to wokr and keep busy to stay sane. I didn’t have a place to escape like Camille. In reality, deep loss is an ongoing condition, no matter how many years have passed.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sharing this a moving, passionate story of love, loss, grief, healing, and moving forward from Audrey Ingram. This story is full of great scenes of nature, great descriptions of Fairhope. Its a wonderful story about what is right and wrong.

I flew through this book! I became so engrossed in Camille and her little daughter, Willa’s journey.
Camille’s husband dies suddenly, leaving her in a daze. How will she raise her spirited six-year-old, and keep up the demands as a partner at a D.C. law firm? When her boss suggests she needs a break, Camille heads to one place she thought she’d never return - home to the Alabama coast.
Camille and Willa have fun exploring and they meet Mack, a local fisherman and owner of a seafood shop. Mack explains how the coastal ecosystem has been damaged since Camille has been gone, and Mack is trying to make things right. Camille agrees with how important this fight is … until she realizes that Mack has brought a lawsuit against some of the companies that damaged the land, which includes her father’s company. Camille must decide which side she is going to take a stand on.
This remarkable debut blends dealing with grief, motherhood, a poignant legal battle, and finding love again. These characters are so well written - Willa was adorable and Mack stole my heart!

The audio narrator was ok. Not a favorite. It was an interesting story to listen along to. Not a top favorite. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to review early

Camille’s husband has recently passed away and she is floundering. She is having trouble focusing at her job and she feels like she is failing her little girl. So, she packs up and moves home to Fairhope, AL for a few weeks….just to get her bearings. She soon meets a local fisherman, Mack Phillips. But, things are not as they seem and Mack is a mortal enemy of her father.
Camille and her daughter, Willa, are fabulous. I love how Willa is a wild child! She sets her southern grandmother on her ear on more than one occasion.
Then there is Mack. I love his principles and I love how he manages to handle things…you will need to read this to find out.
This story is full of great scenes of nature, great descriptions of Fairhope (I love this town!) and a wonderful story about what is right and wrong.
This is narrated by Megan Tusing. A trigger for any narrator for me is a child’s voice. Megan did a great job with this kid and the whole story!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

This is a beautifully written story about grief, relationships, and forgiveness, with a side of environmentalism. It’s emotional and complex. The daughter Willa will just steal your heart!
The book has a multi-layered plot but not crazy enough to get lost. It’s about coming home and rediscovering who you love to be.
Thank you to @letstalkbookspromo for including me in this tour. This book wasn’t on my radar, but I’m so glad I read it! You should too!

Death, family and moving on. The cover of this book seems like it could be the cover of any book really. But this book is about an over worked mom who just lost her husband and is trying to find out what her life looks like without the love of her life. Suddenly she is back in her home town in Alabama and is trying to figure out what “moving on” looks like for her and her daughter. There are love interest but it is very pg. This is such an amazing book and the dual narration really brought it to life.

Short and sweet "eco-romance" written by debut author Audrey Ingram and narrated by the talented Megan Tusing.
It is about a hardworking D.C. lawyer who suddenly finds herself widowed and back home, along the Alabama coast where she grew up.
She needs time to recalibrate and get help with her young daughter. But while she's down South, she's compelled to help out with her father's legal matter regarding an eco issue.
And then there's the matter of a few eligible bachelors who are interested in her attention...
I enjoyed this story after the first 10 or so chapters... it had a bit of a lull between her husband passing and her meeting a few different suitors. But it sped up nicely after that.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media for the advanced listener copy of this audiobook via the NetGalley app.

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape, and Let's Talk Books for my Advanced Readers and Listeners Edition of this book.
The River Runs South is a charming debut novel filled with love, loss, hope, and second chances. When Camille's husband suddenly dies leaving her a single mom to six year old Willa, it's not long before her world comes crashing down around her. When things go wrong at work, she decides to take herself and Willa and return to her hometown in Alabama to sort her life out.
Throw in a lawsuit her father and his company has been dragged into, the instant connection to the man on the opposite side, and the love of the land around them, we have a multi-layered story that had me captured throughout. The secondary characters were so well developed and I felt as if I had known them for years. Six year old Willa will capture your heart with her blunt truths and love for everything muddy.
I appreciated Ingram's ability to capture the struggle of the grieving process and letting go for not only Camille as an adult, but for Willa as a child. Congrats to Audrey on her lovely debut novel.

I really enjoyed this debut women's fiction book about a workaholic lawyer whose husband dies suddenly forcing her to reevaluate what's important in life and deal with her grief.
Suffering from panic attacks and knowing she's not at her best for her six year old daughter, Camille moves back home to Alabama with her parents and finds herself caught up in a lawsuit against her father and his involvement in an environmental scandal.
Great on audio narrated by Megan Tusing and perfect for fans of authors like Kristy Woodson Harvey and Linda Holmes. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review. I will eagerly await more from this author!
