Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the eARC! Thank you to Atria for the physical ARC!
Kill For Me, Kill For You is a twisty, intriguing novel that started off slow - I had trouble connected to the main character, Amanda, because of some of her decision making.

Once things picked up and it was clear that this grief group friendship meet cute wasn’t going to work out as well as Jenn and Judy on Dead To Me, and we were in for a wild ride, I became more invested. The twists got me and were very well done! I wish I had connected more with this in the first half so that the payoff was better. Overall I’d recommend this insane thriller!

Thank you so much to Atria Books and Simon Audio for my gifted copies!

This thriller is BLOWING up right now and for absolute good reason! I absolutely FLEW through this book. Once things starting moving (which wasn't too far in), they never slowed down! I loved the Strangers on a Train vibes and really found myself lost in the story.

I had no idea how things would turn out (I knew it wouldn't be as I suspected) and I was sitting there shocked at a couple of the twists and turns this book took.

My suggestion is to go into this book with as little information as possible and just enjoy the ride!

This book will definitely have me looking at Steve Cavanagh's backlist books and excited for his next release!

This book is out now!

This is what I want from a thriller. This. Is. It. There were twists in this book that I never could have guessed if you'd given me 100 chances. So good. Definitely check this one out

I’m always looking for a thriller that will SHOCK me, a task that has become harder with the volume of books I read from that genre. But Kill For Me, Kill For You managed to deliver that “WHAT?!” moment I was searching for.

The book comes out swinging from the start, alternating between three viewpoints: Amanda, a woman mourning the loss of her child; Ruth, a woman who has survived a brutal attack in her home; and the detective investigating both crimes. As both women work to move past tragedy, Amanda makes a Hitchcockian deal with a fellow support group member, and that’s when things get wild.

In addition to its unique plot, one thing I loved about the novel is its pacing. I love when thrillers are written to be propulsive, but not all consuming, which gives you time to put down the book and theorize about what is going to come next. That element of the book would also make it a great candidate for a book club or buddy read as there are sure to be A LOT of guesses about what’s going on.

Kill For Me, Kill For You has been getting a lot of (mostly deserved) buzz in the past few weeks, which I mostly agree with. The ending did lose a little bit of steam in my opinion and I feel like the story would have benefited from a few more short chapters to tie things up, but overall I really enjoyed how everything played out.

Kill For Me, Kill For You is out now. Thanks to Atria and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Steve Cavanaugh is an excellent writer and he really draws the reader into the story. I thought I had figured out the whole story until the final twist! Loved this book.

Steve Cavanagh is skilled in writing a fast-paced narrative that keeps you engaged with the story, and his newest mystery novel is no exception. Kill for me, Kill for You was a fast and fun mystery inspired by the Strangers On the Train trope. This book was a lot of fun to read, and I enjoyed the many plot twists. This book receives a solid 4/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to review Kill For Me, Kill For You. All opinions are my own.

Sometimes you know from the very first page if a thriller is going to thrill you, and that's what happened here. I opened the book, and I was immediately taken it. It grabbed me so hard. When I was reading it, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. And when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it and itching to get back to it. This was such a fascinating, twisty, crazy story, it makes me wonder how Steve Cavanagh ever came up with it. And it reminds me never to get on the bad side of authors because wow, can they come up with some ingenious ways of killing people and have no one be the wiser. The last twist was memorable! A bit of a JOLT that gave me some chills as I stared at the last page! Oh Mr. Blue Eyes I have questions for you!

Kill For Me, Kill For You by Steve Cavanaugh
Narrator: Stephanie Cannon
Rating: 5 stars
Pub date: 3/19

Set in the heart of New York City, the story kicks off with a chance encounter between two women, Amanda and Wendy, at an anonymous grief group meeting. Both driven by loneliness and a thirst for revenge against those who've wronged them, they forge an unlikely alliance. The plot thickens, leading to a dangerous pact: "If you kill for me, I'll kill for you."

This book is a twisty, wild ride that’s full of suspense and intrigue. While the premise may seem familiar, the author injects fresh new elements that breathe life into the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. I went back and forth between the ebook and the audio, and Stephanie Cannon did an amazing job with the narration, adding to the story’s suspense.

The fast pace made this impossible to put down, and I loved the multi-POV of Amanda, Wendy, and the police officers investigating the case. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the final twist hit me like a ton of bricks.

Overall, this is a riveting psychological thriller that delivers on every front. With its complex characters, heart-pounding suspense, and jaw-dropping revelations, this five-star thriller is one you won't soon forget.

Thank you so much to Simon Audio for my gifted audiobook and Atria and Netgalley for my advanced copy.

Thanks Netgalley, author & Atria Books for the ARC.

Two women Amanda & Wendy strangers to each other end up meeting by chance at grievance discussion group with shared / similar tragic personal history of loss of loved ones. They end up bonding quickly over drinks and their past that still haunts them comes tumbling out. Unable to move past their brutal experiences and with perceived lack of justice both women make a pact - kill for each other , so that the men responsible will ultimately meet their deserved fates.
Meanwhile another woman Ruth, alone in her own home gets brutally attacked by a man with piercing blue eyes, her husband Scott is devastated but is trying his best to help his wife recover from this attack. Will they ever be able to catch who's responsible?

Wow what a spin to the Strangers in a Train Story ! Mind-blowing. The story takes off really well right from the beginning and the reader is swept into the whirlwind of story telling. Narrated from key characters in the book , the chapters are short , filled with suspense , intrigue & end with cliffhangers that makes you want turn pages faster.
I like to put my detective cap on while I read such suspense thrillers and managed to guess a couple of the big twists , but just when I would go -Aha! I knew it ! The author managed to pull the rug from underneath me , he was always 10 steps ahead and brought in more twists which had me gasp in surprise!
Where there some far fetched moments ? Yes . But the way it's narrated & fast paced , it's very entertaining and enjoyable that I did not care much for the little things.

Drop all the books in your TBR & read this already !
The style of story telling reminded me of Closer by David Ellis, if you liked that you'll like this one.

Do I even need to say ? It's a 5 🌟 read !
This is the first book from this author from me and I am definitely going to read the backlists & looking forward to more new releases from him.

This book…I don’t even know where to start. KILL FOR ME, KILL FOR YOU was a tense, fast-paced, psychological, and filled with twists and turns. I could not put it down. Cavanagh’s brilliant storytelling is only made so much better by the characters he has created within these pages.

From the opening chapters, you are in it with these characters. Ruth and Amanda have been through traumatic events, and they are struggling to survive in every way they can. Their lives seem to be running parallel with each other and never overlap. Early on, as the reader, I was hoping they would collide so they could support each other. What I got was one wild ride filled with deception, murder, and a shocking ending I still am processing.

This story shows the best and the worst of humanity. It expertly explores the pain and damage of dealing with a loss can have on a person. It pushes the limits of what someone might do and how a mental break colors one’s outlook. All the while, maintaining the heart of the characters while letting them go through the emotions they need to.

KILL FOR ME, KILL FOR YOU is an amazing thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Audiobook Note: This audiobook was perfection. Narrator, Stephanie Cannon, did an exemplary job of bringing to life not only the characters but the story as well. Her inflection was spot on and the pace was just right. Having the opportunity to listen to as well as read this book was a gift.

What a ride! PSA: this is a smart, twisted, tense psychological thriller, so for the best experience, go in as blindly as possible.

Amanda's family was destroyed by her daughter's murder. Seeking revenge, she encounters the equally traumatized Wendy in a support group, and much like in the referenced book/movie "Strangers on a train", the two women form a plan - "if you kill for me, I will kill for you". Elsewhere in New York City, Ruth is home alone when she is brutally attacked by an intruder, barely surviving. Broken and traumatized, she struggles to regain some sense of normalcy, but with her attacker on the loose, can she ever feel safe again?

I already knew this much about the book's content from the synopsis, so I wasn't surprised by those developments. Thankfully, they are not dragged out in the book, but happen rather quickly, and once the stage is set accordingly, the story takes off from there on a wild, thrilling ride.

The chapters in the book alternate between the two storylines and are written in such a way that it is hard to put the book down - every chapter seemingly ending on a cliffhanger that leaves you breathless. Not surprisingly, I flew through the book. While I had no idea where it was all going at first, the first twist about halfway through the book was obvious, and I was beginning to have my suspicions about the next big reveal around the same time. I could not, however, have guessed the final, heart-stopping climax. What I liked most was that the book was very well-written, so it not only kept you on your toes, but the characters were believable, and there was depth to it that I did not expect from a thriller. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this arc honestly.

I’ve loved this author since his first book The Defense. This book, kill for me kill for you, did not disappoint. I absolutely loved it and devoured it in a day and a half (stinking life chores getting in the way of reading a good book). The story is fairly fast paced, the characters are interesting, and the storyline and plot, chefs kiss. Definitely going to recommend this one to every one I see.

Two women who have suffered incomprehensible pain form a friendship and agree to help each other with the revenge they each have been seeking in order to move on. The title will tell you what they have in mind!
This gripping book had one twist after another. Even though I had my suspicions about some things, it ended up being so much more! This one will take you through the streets of New York, with multiple POV with an ending that I didn’t expect and really liked! I actually binged this book as it moved along quickly and companion read with the audio so I could keep going all day!

Thank you, Atria Books and NetGalley, for my eARC. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

I really enjoyed Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh. This is my first Cavanagh book and I wasn't sure what to expect going into it, but I was hooked from the beginning and devoured it.

It is written in multiple POVs, and though we don't know it at first, there are a few unreliable narrators -- both of these things are a few of my favorite literary devices.

The plot was so fun to go along with -- trying to figure out who this Wendy woman was, trying to figure out why she was setting up Amanda and why she wanted this random man dead. The plot twist at the end was even better!

I can't wait to read more from Steve Cavanagh and I highly recommend Kill for Me, Kill for You. If you like thrillers, mysteries, and unreliable narrators, this one is definitely for you!

Five stars for a thriller in the year of our lord 2024, who is she??

If you, like me, love a thriller that is truly gripping from page one and never really lets up, I think you should pick this one up! I loved the "Strangers on a Train" premise of two people who do not know each other agreeing to kill someone in the other person's life to avoid getting caught - with a twist, of course (I've seen a lot of comparisons to THE KIND WORTH KILLING, but it reminded me more of THE FAVOR).

While I did see the twists/reveals coming, it did not take away my enjoyment of the book at all - if anything, it was so satisfying to see everything play out the way I was envisioning it. Overall, I just had a great time with this one, and think it's a perfect, bingeable read.

Thank you to NetGalley + Atria books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

2.5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well dammit. Here I am - a definite outlier on this one!

I really wanted to like Cavanagh’s new book: Kill For Me Kill For You. The title alone had me clicking the request button immediately. There are so many positive reviews for this book and I couldn’t wait to jump in! The premise sounded too good miss.

Two women, total strangers, meet by chance over drinks. They quickly realize they have a lot in common and devise a plan to get revenge against the two men who destroyed their families. Sounds exciting to me! I love a good revenge story. Unfortunately, this was not it.

Totally unrealistic plot with unlikable characters (who didn’t seem very smart) made this one a real drag for me to read. You have to suspend A LOT of disbelief. Very dark and graphic as well - which is fine if it’s entertaining.

I can’t say much more without spoilers, but the end was not good. It was a huge miss for me!

Bumped up 1/2 star for some cool twists and short chapters!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for my advanced copy to read and review.

I was hooked on this from the first page. To the point I looked up the author’s other work and found he was the writer for the Eddie Flynn series. Looking back at the review I left for Th1rt3en, I said I was not a fan of this author. Well, as it turns out, I actually am!

I couldn’t put this down. Finished it in a day and a half because it was so compelling that I just wanted to keep reading. I saw one of the twists coming and didn’t really like the last twist but I still loved the ride. 4.5 stars.

My Thoughts:
Starting out by saying this is my favorite thriller so far this year
We start by meeting two different women who by chance one night meet and start talking suddenly they find out they’ve both have had horrific events that changed them and their families forever. But as they talked the more they come up with a plan to get revenge on the men who change their lives forever.
This story had me turning pages and up all night. I kept thinking I figured it out only to find I didn’t. If you like thrillers this is a great one. See if you can figure it out faster than I did. This is my third book by Steve Cavanagh he is now a auto author for me
Thank you netgalley and Steve Cavanagh and Atria Books for letting me read this

For me, it was Kill for Me, Kill for You. Whoa. It is a dual story of a woman brutally attacked in her home and determined to find the assailant and another woman whose daughter was killed and she too is determined to find the assailant. Guys, this book was bonkers, bordering on absurd. It just kept taking turns that were absolutely bananas. Did I stop reading? No. No, I did not. I had to see where it was all going and how it tied together. I do appreciate a few hints dropped along the way that actually made me wonder if they were typos or editing mistakes. They weren’t. They were clues that made sense at the end. This was a wild ride and I am a little queasy from it.

Ooh this was a good one! I think it took me about halfway through the book to fully appreciate it--until that point, it reads more as a domestic suspense, when I was anticipating a pacey thriller--but soon as that point happened, the rest flew by at a breakneck pace. Love love loved the ode to Strangers on a Train, and was pleasantly surprised by the twists Cavanagh threw into the mix.

Recommend for lovers of domestic suspense and golden-age Hitchcock mysteries.

Very grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!
