I have read quite a few books on candle magic. They often cover the color associations and how to prepare a candle for work, dressing it. This book covers this as well, but then it takes you even further by incorporating in other oils you can use to turn up the power!

I really enjoyed this one and learned a few new things as well. A great Yule Gift for all of your coven and friends.

This was a very good read. I liked the fact that the author openly spoke about Christianity and it's connection to the subject. Before reading this book I would have assumed it was a practice new to me. I now know that I participate in these practices under different labels. Going forward I will be much more intentional with my wording in writing for personal and professional reasons. This is a book I will suggest to people not only on the basis of magic but in Christianity as well. I am in search of more literary work that shows people everyone is more alike than different. This is a great example. If you are new to candle magic this is a great place to start. Included are spells, recipes, directions and material information so you can shop candles appropriately.

While I appreciate the opportunity, unfortunately I will not be reviewing this one. I had a hard time getting into it.

A really enjoyable read in candle magic an area I have a growing interest in. It was an especially nice read for Autumn (my favourite time of year). Some good knowledge sharing and insights from a kitchen witch on how to create your own magic with candles, and how to incorporate using oils and herbs. I appreciated the little practices throughout and it helped to get started and get a feel for it. This is one I would like to keep as a reference, so will keep a look out for it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

We’re heading towards the time of years where I have candles lit everyday. With my tea in the morning, as we hit twilight, with dinner and baths. I quite literally burn through them. I’ve purchased magical intention candles, and always light candles during ritual or ceremony, and so very curious about candle magic. As I hoped, this book is great fun! I started with candles for the sabbats and really appreciate the suggested chant and oil suggestions. Rachel Patterson did an outstanding job describing how to do candle spells from start to finish including oils, symbols and ritual that’s easy to learn and practical to implement. I made a Ganesha oil blend that’s perfect to incorporate in the New Beginnings Candle Spell. Grateful for the inspiration ✨🔮🕯️

If one loves to use candles in occult techniques, then this interesting book is a must read. There are many fine insights and advices which can be incorporated into ones understanding and practice of magic. In many ways this book can be a longer elaboration of shorter advices from Scott Cunninghams books (Forex.) Just I would love that some practical steps are even more explained, nothing leaves to chance for beginners. Anyone with just slight interest in candle magic could learn something from this inspiring text.

This book is absolutely delicious. I love the spells and have already been experimenting with some of them. The information is very thorough and feels so complete. I really felt empowered to begin right away versus looking at other books to build my confidence.

I like that Rachel Patterson encourages the reader to take in the information and then use their intuition to figure out what works for them. Spellwork really is all about honing your own craft and that’s what makes it so fun! I’m so happy to see that sentiment instilled in the book.

My only con is that the spacing on the Kindle version is pretty wonky. I think it could use another pass-through before pub day. Other than that it was a delight!

Thank you to Llewellyn Worldwide for the ARC <3

I enjoyed the author's 'A Witch for Every Season' and candle magic is something I know nothing about, so I was excited for this read. It's a lovely introduction for those who (like me!) know nothing, but I think those with more experience will also find new knowledge here. It's a great overview of working with candle magic, with lots of practical tips, spells, and exercises so you can dive right in. There's also a great introduction to tarot, Zodiac, crystals, etc.
