You get exactly what you might expect from a book with a long cheeky title; a quick witted, cute story with some colourful characters. There is the obligatory smut also required for a romance novel (of course). While these days I tend to skim those parts, I can say it was sexy enough as our heroine finds out what she likes in the bedroom.
I enjoyed the world building here and the back story for the demons. It was well laid out, made a point of being about inclusivity, and overall supported the story narrative. All things a good history of the world as it is should do.
The overall issue was that I kept being able to easily put this book down and not be concerned about picking it back up again. It just wasn’t compelling enough for me to really care about any one of our characters or their fates. Yes I know it’s ‘cozy’ fiction; but it’s absolutely possible to have a book with lower stakes that your reader is still enthralled by. This one just didn’t quite do that for me.
All that said I will continue the series as I really did enjoy the demons history and set-up. I’m hopefully that author Kimberly Lemming, who is relatively new to the scene, just needs some time to hit her stride and find a stronger voice. Finally, I’m assuming (hoping) the werewolf we just met is the title love interest in book two. I really enjoyed his extra commentary to the whole story and could definitely come back for more from him!
Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

Absolutely loved this story which feels like a romp because it's so easy to just see why everyone is fed up and also why they keep going! Despite the mishaps along the way we're rooting for our main characters to connect and when they do, the hijinks continue! lol. I'm doing my best not to give anything away here but it's rough. Just read it so we can talk about it, okay? It's a good time!

A story that I feared would be a bit rushed due to it's length, but turned out to be nearly perfect. At least to me. The story is fun and sweet, even with all the chaos.

This was a cute and cozy adventure story that had be giggling out loud! I did find the pacing to be a bit slow at times, so it wasn't an absolute fave, but I had a ball while reading.

I'll admit this book is not a literary masterpiece, but it was the perfect book for me at the time I read it. I enjoyed every second of it and definitely plan on reading the rest in the series, plus any future books of hers.

want to read a spicy funny paranormal fantasy romance ---> then this one is for you cause I absolutely devoured this one!

Great for what it is marketed as, but this book just wasn’t for me, necessarily.
I think the emotional connection between the FMC and the MMC fell flat for me, but if you’re looking for a quick, smutty, read, then this one is absolutely for you!

Okay so just a couple weeks ago I was yapping about how much I loved books that didn't take themselves seriously (see The God and the Gwisin). I love books that aren't afraid to have a bit of fun. But I need them to have something of substance as well. Something else driving the narrative other than just sheer ridiculousness.
And sadly, I don't think this one had anything else going for it. The love story was alright, if a bit insta-lovey. The side characters were fun, but nothing spectacular. The quest was ridiculously easy and too low stakes for even me. I just needed more.
And really, I just needed this book to take five minutes and give me something with depth. I didn't need to read "ridiculous dragon slut magic" again, or another bad joke. I needed something that made me think, or react, or feel any emotion at all. This was mildly entertaining, but for some reason, I kind of resent it. I can see what it's trying to do, and what spot it fills in the industry, but it's not anything I'll ever go back to.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review

This is book is so fun, it's a breath of fresh air after a heavier read. If you are looking for a fantasy read that is easy on the brain, and will have you giggling.. this is it!

This book was about a as it was funny and great I wasn’t a fan of the verbiage it was using. It also was very insta love and that’s just not something that I deeply am into. I’m hoping with another round of editing from the publisher that it will get better. This book has a lot of potential and I’ll look forward to trying the other books once the errors and the verbiage get changed.

Ugh, I really hate to say this, but I just didn’t like this one. I listened to the audiobook, and honestly, I think the narrator made it worse—she was just... not it. The audiobooks haven't been redone since the book got traditionally published, and honestly, I don't think they will be, but I really wish they would, because that could've improved the experience.
The writing was pretty cringe and corny for me, and it felt really juvenile—like, it read more like a Twitter post than a fantasy novel. It was just too modern for the setting, and I couldn't get past the awkward dialogue and interactions. We follow Cinnamon, a spice farmer, who gets drunk and ends up saving a demon, which kicks off their adventure and eventual romance. I did warm up to the demon, but I just didn’t connect with Cinnamon at all.
I won’t be continuing with this series. In fact, I own the second and third books, and I’ll be unhauling them. This one just wasn’t for me.

Kimberly Lemming delivers a perfect blend of fantasy, adventure, and swoon-worthy romance in *That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon*. This book is a spicy, laugh-out-loud rom com through a vividly imagined world that pulls you in with its quirky characters, heartfelt moments, and unexpected twists.
The story follows Cinnamon "Cin," a small-town spice maker whose ordinary life takes a wild turn when, after a drunken night, she accidentally saves Fallon—a tall, ridiculously handsome demon who has been freed from a terrible curse. Fallon reveals the truth about the sinister magic that has plagued Cin’s people for generations and gives her one terrifying choice: help him break the curse and free his kind, or risk the safety of her family. With no other option, Cin embarks on the adventure of a lifetime.
As Cin travels with Fallon, she not only discovers her bravery and strength but also meets a delightful band of misfits—both human and demon—who feel like the perfect found family. The chemistry between Cin and Fallon is *chef's kiss*: equal parts steamy and sweet, with moments that make your heart flutter. Their romance develops naturally, layered with humor, trust, and genuine affection that makes you root for them every step of the way.
Lemming's descriptive writing immerses you in this fantastical world, and her ability to weave lighthearted humor with deeper emotional stakes is unmatched. I loved how she gave life to side characters, making them just as compelling as the leads. It's rare to find a book where you’re just as invested in the supporting cast as you are in the main romance, but Lemming pulls it off effortlessly.
If you're a fan of fantasy stories with spicy romance, hilarious banter, and a dash of heart-pounding adventure, this book is a must-read. I can't wait to see what Kimberly Lemming writes next—she’s officially an auto-buy author for me!

This was so fun. I loved Cin and her demon and the mishaps they get up to on the quest to save other demonkind. Fun, spicy and hilarious, this quick read was so entertaining that Kimberly Lemming is a must-read author on my TBR now.

Though I wanted to love this one I couldn’t really get into this. This might be more of an amazing thing as others quite enjoyed this book.

This book was very cute and funny but ultimately not for me because of the modern language and references and level of explicit content. I would recommend it for people who are interested in New Adult type books.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it's my second read of December and it was very nice and easy to read, I loved the cocktail of fantasy, adventure, romance, and fun all mixed in. I had my doubts when I started the book and was very skeptical until about 40 percent in and then I realized I did in fact enjoy it.
I really adored the characters, meeting them and learning about them was so fun. Fallon and Cin are so cute together.
I also enjoyed the fact that there weren't many sex scenes, I may enjoy them but once in a while, a palate cleanser is nice.

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved A Demon is a whimsical, cozy, romantasy. A humorous read that readers of Assistant to the Villain and Legends and Lattes would enjoy.

Well this was interesting lol. I'd heard a lot about this author and her books and when they finally got new covers, I was definitely more intrigued! I know the humor was really marketed on this one, but to be honest it didn't start getting really funny to me until later? And even then, some of the humor wasn't the type I really enjoy. However, the book was really fun in general, just took awhile for me to really get into. Once it finally got going, it was a good time. The romance was cute and I loved the easy magic of this!

I was so excited to see a Kimberly Lemming book on Netflix that I apparently didn't even read the title before diving in. A few pages in, a whole lot of deja vu and it hits me—I’ve already read this one! Honestly, I guess it must’ve been republished or something. But hey, my memory is like a goldfish, so I got to enjoy this delightful ride all over again with only a vague recollection of the plot.
Now, I’d love to say my review is unbiased, but let’s be real—I’m a huge fan of Kimberly Lemming! I’d read anything she writes (sometimes twice, apparently).
This book follows Emily, who, after a few too many drinks, stumbles upon a demon in need of saving. Talk about a wild night! The humor is on point, and Lemming’s writing is sharp and witty. Emily is super relatable—I mean, who hasn’t had a night where they ended up in a supernatural mess?
The world-building is fantastic, blending the magical and the mundane in a way that makes you think, “Why can’t I have a hot demon who worships the ground I walk on?” Plus, the supporting cast is just as entertaining, with characters that add to the fun without overshadowing Emily’s journey.
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is a hilarious and heartwarming adventure that’s perfect for anyone who loves a good laugh and a little bit of magic. Both cozy and deeply hot, I highly recommend it, even if you’ve already read it—because who doesn’t love a second helping of fun?
Thank you to Kimberly Lemming for writing the coziest, most diverse spicy romance around and thank you to Orbit Books for providing me with this ARC so I could write the most unbiased review I am capable of. I'd give it 11 stars if I could.

3.5 stars!
This is a super fun read! Is it revolutionary? No BUT is it an easy read that is going to make you smile? Absolutely! This is a short book, coming in at 260 pages which makes it easy to add if you are falling behind on your tbr.
