WHY did it take me so long to pick this book up?! It's cozy adjacent.
It's cute.
A tad spicey.
Snort out loud funny.
I will most definitely be purchasing a physical copy and continuing the series.
P.S. The new cover is gorgeous!
Thanks to NetGalley & Orbit for the eARC!

First- this cover is beautiful!
Second, I’m so glad I got the chance to read this cute story!
Not just steamy smutty goodness, but humor, an actual plot, with an actual connection. I laughed, I smiled, I got a new book boyfriend- what else could you want?!
For fans of cozy fantasy, this is for you!
Thanks to NetGalley for my copy to give an honest review- all thoughts are my own!

This e-Arc was provided by Net Galley - thanks!
Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book around 36%. I was really looking forward to the story which is about a young woman who goes on a journey with the demon she saved from a rock slide to destroy a witches for homes. When it got to the first romance scene, it just really wasn’t working for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read all kinds of romance books with all levels of spice and I am a big fan of this genre. But the spicy talk from the demon, caused me too uncontrollably cringe. I will not be finishing the series which is disappointing because I know a lot of people really like these books. I would be willing to try the author again in the future though.

This was so cute and spicy. It was almost a bit too cozy for me, however. I still want to continue the series, but this book left me wanting a little more angst.

I was not a huge fan of this book. I really thought this book would be an amazing fantasy romance but instead got what felt more like an unedited first draft. I was extremely surprised to see this book in this condition after it being picked up by a publisher. Wasn't any changes made to it? There's so much that could have been done to make it better. I hated the characters in this book they felt flat and didn't have much of a build to them. The time line in this book was crazy. It feels so extremely rushed and like we missed alot of time. Things happened in this book almost too easily. The witch was killed too easily as well as destroying all her cups. They met the bar keep and she just agrees that the goddess is a witch and agrees to help her. Or how the hero from the beginning sees that the goddess they serve isn't really a goddess but a witch and switches sides so easily without a fight or any questions. It just seemed to not have a real conflict. I know that the book over all was supposed to be more of a cozy fantasy but I expected some cooler fight scenes and more explanation of the world building. The whole lore behind the demons wasn't explained well at all for it being such a heavy foundation for the book.
I just feel like this book was a rough draft and could have been so much better with more work.

Disclaimer : I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it. This in no way impacts my opinion.
Wow. I wasn't expecting this to be spicy but hot damn. I liked the mixture of fantasy and romance in this - the stakes were high enough for me to enjoy the fantasy element and the descriptions of sex were good enough for me not to care.
For a 182 page book, this really packs a punch in terms of storyline, worldbuilding, characters, romance, smut, both real and found family vibes and incredible humour! It literally had it all and I absolutely loved every world and couldn't put it down.
It did read a little fan fiction at times and using lingo from the present was a bit of a juxtaposition but overall I did really enjoy this!

Hilarious spicy romp
Did you see what I did there? "Spicy"? I crack myself up.
This was so much fun. Putting aside the HEAT of it all (Lemming rocked the smexy scenes), this was full of laughs, banter and a relatable heroine who, like me, would never have been chosen to be...well the Chosen One.
Cin, yes short for Cinnamon (her brothers ate Chili and Cumin sooo yeah), is happy with her life. A thriving business, good friends and a family she doesn't necessarily want to kill day to day make for a content life.
Until, you know, Fallon crashes in, convinces her mother that he's totally acceptable as a demon and essentially blackmails Cin into helping him destroy the false goddess's bases of power.
If you enjoy GA Aiken, Molly Harper or Lynsay Sanda you'll enjoy this story. Its light hearted without being syrupy obnoxious, humorous without being banal and the secondary cast is a lot of fun!

Thank you, net Galley, for the early copy of "That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon" By Kimberly Lemming. I enjoyed this spicy adventure book. Cinnamon is hilarious, and Falcon is a sexy demon that can turn into a dragon. I love Cinnamon. She is like my spirit animal.

After I finished this book I told all my reader friends that they need to stop what they’re doing and read this! This is such a good soulful fantasy romance and it’s actually funny too??? If this is how I feel about the first book in the series. I can’t wait to get read the rest. Lemming literally slayed the house down with this one.

So incredibly cute and fun. This is the perfect light hearted read if you want to dabble in some monster romance.
The writing is absolutely perfect. The storyline is paced wonderfully and a great mix of humor, plot and spice. I really can’t say enough good things about this story. I need this to just be an epically long series because everything Kimberly writes is divine and I had SO much fun reading it.

Okay, I SO enjoyed this book. Ultra fast paced, cozy fantasy with plot holes I am all too willing to ignore for the simple fact that this book was chaotic in every perfect way.
A spice hailing, funny as hell heroine with a penchant of whirling apples at assholes?
A demon with serious golden retriever crossed with touch her and you die energy?
A quest that’s so ridiculous that you just can’t help but be taken along for the ride?
Count me in.
I absolutely loved this more than I thought I would. It was the perfect bit-size cozy-chaotic fantasy with the perfect amount of spice. There weren’t too many spice scenes but when they happened 👀. I know this book has been independently published and is now finally being published by Orbit (one of my favs), but I was super lucky to receive an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review. Massive thanks, Orbit!

Thank you to Orbit Books and NetGalley for the chance to read this earc.
I thought this was a fun, light story. But there is a lot going on, without much for transitions.
Cinnamon lives on a cinnamon farm with her brothers and parents. Her sister died in an accident. She gets drunk at a festival and ends up walking home, getting chased by a demon. She then finds out that she must travel with the demon to destroy these chalices that make them mindless and evil.

This book was so hard to put down. This was such a fun time to read. I loved the main character and hero and the found family aspect. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

4 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Who wouldn't want to go off on a gran adventure with a bunch of hot heroes also chosen by the goddess?"
Me bitches. No thank you. Biceps are nice, but so was not having my guts eaten by an orc.
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is the first novel in the adult fantasy romance series, Mead Mishaps, which are a series of interconnected standalones set in the same universe. In this novel we follow Cinnamon, a young woman and spice farmer who finds herself on a whirlwind of an adventure when she ends up saving a demon's sanity and life after a drunken escapade through the forest. Said demon, Fallon, is captivated by this tenacious human and is determined to have her...help him save the world from an evil lich, that is. And the chaos ensures.
This is a vibes only book that is so easy to devour. Cinnamon is a delightful female main character who just roles with the situation time and time again.Watching her try to control her attraction of a demon that kinda, sorta, kidnapped her while also enjoying her adventure was all I needed in this book.
Fallon is a demon in all the good ways. I cackled at his morally grey actions and his absolutely adoration of Cinnamon. He knows exactly what he wants and is focusing on the long term goal throughout and I was living for it. He's a demon who knows how to love...and he has no qualsm against violence.
In terms of spice, I would place this book at 2.5 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. The romance is absolutely absurd in all the great ways. They may be "enemies" in the loosest notion but their attraction and connection is obvious and the banter that follows was PERFECTION. I would place this book around a medium burn romance which was all I wanted. The spice is detailed, has a little twists in it, and Fallon is a male that knows how to TEASE.
" You certainly know how to feed a man's ego, Rabbit...I don't think I'll be letting you go after we finish this quest."
"W-what do you m-mean?"
A devilish grin sent shock waves to my core.
"I mean, I'm going to take you as my wife when this is all over."
The world is quite light and you unravel it rather quickly alongside the story. It's a light medieval feel based on technology but with character personalities that feel modern. I feel as long as you don't look too deep in anything it was easy to fall into and enjoy.
The story is absurd in all the best ways but still has a good structure that allowed me to ride away with it. The quest element as well as the different challenges and new characters to join our merry band helped keep the pace and action; though, we still get some sweet slices of life and banter amongst the character. The journey can be felt easy as character travel across the map and I liked how, despite the quest, it was not a rinse and repeat to acquire what they need. The romance is really want glues everything together seamlessly and the ending was the cherry on top I needed with the sweetness and vibes these character exhibit.
Overall this book is a perfect example of a fantasy vibes book. The romance, the adventure, and the character all grappled for your attention and leave you thoroughly satisfied and enjoying every minute of the insanity.
Thank you Orbit books and Netgalley for this e-ARC!

So cute! An enjoyable romp of a cozy fantasy - loved it! Exactly what I needed to get through my work days this week. Cin and Fallon are hot and sexy, as well as perfectly suited for each other. Again, so cute!

While the plot of this book felt very light, it was overall very enjoyable. I think the characters had good chemistry and there were many moments where I laughed out loud. I think the author did a great job of writing in a way that showcased natural conversations authentically.
Certain elements of the book did feel a bit lacking, in that the parts of the plot that were most action packed didn't have a certain anticipation or thrill to them. I think the suspense could have been built a bit better. Overall this is a great, light read.

5 stars - I loved it!
This book was just what I needed right now. This was a delightful fantasy adventure that was hilarious and steamy. Spice trader Cinnamon’s quiet life is turned upside down when she accidently rescues a demon who isn’t the mindless beast that her supposed goddess preaches they are. Now she is on an adventure with him to stop the supposed goddess and rescue the demon race from her spell.
Like I said, this was a delightful and hilarious adventure. From the very beginning I was amused by Cinnamon and Fallon’s story. Cinnamon is a woman who doesn’t want to be an adventurer but has no problem kicking ass when forced to. I really loved how snarky she was and how she didn’t automatically give in to Fallon, but also didn’t deny that she felt something. She just admitted that she needed time, which is reasonable. Also, drunk Cinnamon was hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing at the cheese queen.
Fallon was an intense character. He is a demon who can shift into a dragon, which is cool. I loved how honest he was from the beginning about wanting Cinnamon and how territorial he got over her. Fallon and Cinnamon’s relationship started a bit slow with Cinnamon not trusting Fallon but once that passed and things got serious it got quite steamy. I really enjoyed their relationship, especially the banter between these two. It was just so much fun and a great blend of adventure, humor, and romance. It was just what I needed right now and I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Overall, this was a wonderful surprise. I can’t wait to read the next book and see Brie the cheesemaker fall in love. I also love how on the nose the names of these characters all are. Lemming really has done a wonderful job creating a fantastic world with fun characters that I can’t wait to read more about.
TW: alcohol consumption; death of a sibling mentioned; attempted mugging; assault; violence; death; slavery;

I loved the comedic aspect of the book! I giggled, laughed and rolled my eyes a couple of times! It was a much needed comedic relief in a dark time. Unfortunately, I found the storytelling rushed. Everything was happening all at once and was so easy for the characters it felt fake. I had a hard time following the action of the story. It was definitely spicier than I thought, I felt like reading a fanfiction hihi. Anyway, I still enjoyed reading it, but more for the characters and their comedy than for the story!

I am not really a spicy romance reader but this book That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon was a book that I literally could not put down. Between the amazing writing style, the wonderful characters, and the narrator this book was the best time. I cannot wait to read the next book up in the series!

Thank you NetGalley and Orbit Books for giving me early access to this book! All opinions are my own.
I am so incredibly happy that cozy romantasy is becoming a thing, because I am here for it! This book had everything you could want; a sweet romance, set in a fantasy world, and while yes there is some conflict it is still incredibly cozy to read. I also really enjoyed the modern slang used, though I know for some that can be a turn off when the book is set in a fantasy setting. But this book is just such a light, fun read, definitely pick it up! You won’t regret it!
