I loved every second of this book. It's fast paced, short, sweet, and all around a great time. It was a wonderful Rom Com, Fantasy that is borderline cozy fantasy -- and I adore that.

I will absolutely be recommending this to people.

I can't say enough good things about this book. It is a perfect balance of comedy, Romance, and action.

Cinnamon is a strong black female protagonist who wants nothing to do with adventuring but sometimes that's exactly what the people need in an Antagonist as they end up doing the most good. This book had me laughing like I have not laughed in a very long time. That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is the perfect cozy read for any time of year.

Kimberly Lemming's That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon is a perfect blend of cozy, fantasy, romcom, and spice. Cinnamon is super relatable (our cheese queen) and Fallon is so sweet (when he's not tearing people apart). Just a great time all around!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.

First look at that cover? Isn't that a hot cover? Like damn, maybe I need to save a demon.

This book was a fantastic late-night read. I read this clutching my pearls and my glass of wine. I had a few gasps and giggles as I read this. Was it a little on the nose? Sure, but the thing I loved about the author is how self-aware she was. This book knows what it is and leans into it. It's a fast-paced romance fantasy novel with terrible names. I mean, Cinnamon Hotpepper is a ridiculous name, but that made me love it even more.

Cinnamon, or Cin for short, is in her mid-twenties and lives on her family's cinnamon farm. She gets drunk at a local party celebrating the departure of the goddess's chosen hero. On her way home, she is almost mugged by a local ruffian. Instead, Cin turns the tables by throwing apples at him and chasing him through the trees. When she pauses to continue the chase, she hears a person who is trapped under a nearby landslide. When she rescues the stranger, it turns out to be a demon. She runs for her life and makes it safely home, but not before beating the demon with a cinnamon branch.

In the morning, said demon intrudes on family breakfast. It turns out that the cinnamon she hit him with broke him from a spell and that the goddess all humans worship isn't a goddess at all, but an evil witch. Fallon, the rescued demon, asks Cinnamon to join him in destroying the witch. Of course, she goes and what ensues is a fun sexy romp in taking down the evil witch.

Seriously, this was a fun book. I could not put it down. The only reason it wasn't a 5-star read for me is because I really didn't like the names. Again, Cinnamon Hotpepper? It just pulled me right out of it. There were also a few times the book could have benefited from heavier editing. A few times, sentences ran into others and it jumbled the structure. I had to go back and read things a few times.

Favorite scene? Without spoiling, it was when Cinnamon, who is naked in a river with a demon, spins and kills a crocodile. HOT AF.

This was such a fun read. The romance is quite cute, a lot steamy, and definitely extremely insta-love. I really loved our cast of characters A LOT, and the fantasy storyline was a lot of fun as well. I think Kimberly Lemming did a really great job creating a captivating world, a hilarious crew, and decent romance in so little pages. I've read plenty of fantasy romance who did worse with WAY MORE. So yeah, this book was an absolute delight to read, and I definitely HIGHLY recommend it.

This was a fun, cute read! Cinnamon was adorable, and Fallon was definitely a heartthrob. I don't know how she held out so long, but a fire breeding dragon was more than enough qualification for me lolol. I loved their banter and I also enjoyed how he was ready, willing, and able to burn the world for her! I'm usually not into romcoms, but this book is hilarious. I'm always amazed at all the new curse phrases the author comes up with in this realm.

Honestly I’m not sure what I was expecting going in to this, but this was so much fun! It’s funny, witty, and spicy (🌶️🌶️🌶️/5). I’m such a sucker for good banter.

Thank you Netgalley and Orbit!

Cinnamon just wants to live quietly in her family's spice farm. But Cin meets Fallon and he tells her about the evil witch enslaving his people.

It's a very short but very fun book. Very sexy and cute at the same time. Cin is terrific and so is Fallon. Love them both. The two books after this one are terrific as well. A fun series.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I genuinely mean this, if you don't enjoy this book, "Are you okay? Blink twice if you need help, a hug, anything."
I'm joking but really this book is a good time. It's a cozy read, with spice, AND features woman of color in lead roles.
The characters are hilarious. You can't help but invest in their journey. I NEED every book in this series. I absolutely loved this read.
Thank you so much Kimberly Lemming and Netgallery for allowing me to read this book.

The voice is fun and flippant and rather easy to follow along with. Easy three stars, four for the right readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit for the ARC.

If you love cozy fantasy, monster romance, spicy books, a protective (borderline obsessed) male main character, and a sassy, caring female main character this is the book for you! Cinnamon and Fallon are one of my favorite book couples. Cinnamon has such a vibrant and strong personality and combining that with Fallon, who is a little used to getting his way and also a little mischievous, you have such an entertaining pairing that you can't get enough of. This story is full of laughter, adventure, romance, found family elements, and some spice. I seriously cannot recommend this cozy book enough! I mean come on what romantic story doesn't start with the guy threatening your family so you go on a quest with him?

"Spice trader Cinnamon's quiet life is turned upside down when she ends up on a quest with a fiery demon, in this irreverently quirky rom-com fantasy that is sweet, steamy, and funny as hell.

All she wanted to do was live her life in peace - maybe get a cat, expand the family spice farm. Really, anything that didn't involve going on an adventure where an orc might rip her face off. But they say the goddess has favorites, and if so, Cin is clearly not one of them.

After Cin saves the demon Fallon in a wine-drunk stupor, Fallon reveals that all he really wants to do is kill an evil witch enslaving his people. And who can blame him? But now he's dragging Cinnamon along for the ride whether she like it or not. On the bright side, at least he keeps burning off his shirt...."

I mean, who wouldn't want to read this book? A hot demon that can burn off his shirt?

This book was unfortunately not for me, I could not get past the ridiculous names and modern phrases and slang.

A huge thank you to the author, Netgalley, and Orbit Books for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you were looking for a fun, cozy, romantic comedy romantasy, then look no further. This is such a fun read that as soon as I started reading this I devoured it until I was finished.

I love some tropey romantasy where I don’t really need to focus too hard and I can just join the ride, and this fits that niche perfectly. There is a touch of BDSM thrown in, a smidge of “fated mates,” and a LOT of “touch her and die” from Fallon. (If you think too hard about the multiple mutilations and deaths in this book, you might explode to be honest, but honestly I’d just enjoy the ride and let the story do whatever it does.)

The worldbuilding was interesting, and while it tackled some heavier topics, none of them took away from the romance between Cinnamon and Fallon - as it shouldn’t! Along the course of basically a road trip to save the world, they fall in love (and have sex) and save the world and free the demons from the evil witch. I thought the world building was fun and easy to get into, and made me want to continue reading this series for as many characters as the author could dream up.

I have seen some criticisms that I do agree with - namely, the violence against innocent people in this book (ie. People are killed for not knowing something, while another character is saved from the same fate by happenstance; Fallon simply kills people for not immediately listening to Cinnamon when she doesn’t really give a compelling argument for them to believe her; Fallon is a little too gung ho about murdering people and Cin is a bit too “oh well” when he does, etc, etc.) Honestly, if I was intending to read this as a serious fantasy and not a fun romcom then I think it’d bother me more. But as it is, I just wanted to vibe for the 2 hours it took me to read this so it was fine.

ALSO. Can we have a book on Ambrose. Please? Or literally ANY snake demon? That’s all I’m asking for here, as SOON as he showed up I immediately wanted a romance with him. I’ve been obsessed with nagas since I can remember and I’d kill for a romance with either a naga or a lamia. (I also love dragons, do NOT get my translating-the-runes-in-my-Dragonology-books ass wrong, here, but. But! I also need a lamia romance. Stat.)

4.5 out of 5 wine glasses. This was so much fun - especially for a paranormalesque romance (which tend to be super doom and gloom and serious). The characters are memorable and the world is vivid. I also appreciate that the heroine is not the typical damsel in distress but an integral part of saving the day. I can’t wait to read more from the author.

This book is a solid 3 stars! I enjoyed the easy-going story line, and as far as insta-love goes, this was very expected. I didn’t super enjoy the how much modern slang was used, but this is a very easy to read, cozy, fantasy story. I wish the smut was a little more versatile, because let’s be honest, why else are we reading this book. But it felt like the same scene over and over again. Overall, this book is a good time, and I’ll be adding the rest of the series to my TBR for when I need a lighthearted romcom fantasy read.

I am obsessed with Lemming and the world that has been created. If Lemming writes it, I’m reading it.

I love cinnamon!!! The character that is. The is book had just the right amount of fluff, plot. and smut. It is a quick and fun read with lovable characters and a satisfying conclusion.
If you are debating whether or not you should read this, just read it, it's amazing and will keep you hooked.

“Who wouldn’t want to go off on a grand adventure with a bunch of hot heroes also chosen by the goddess? Me bitches. No, thank you.”

This book was the literal definition of a romantic comedy (plus fantasy), which made it very funny and enjoyable to read. For some reason though, I just wasn't that into it, which was a bummer! I normally love stuff like this, and I can't quite pinpoint why I felt the way I did about it. Cin and Fallon have good chemistry but I wasn't really into either of them and sometimes the humor was a bit ~too~ slapstick/over the top. But I'm definitely interested in reading the next one for when I have more capacity for such a humorous book!

3.75 rounded up!

When I picked this up the way I was fully just expecting some slutty spicy nonsense, which it fully delivered on don't you worry. HOWEVER the plot??? it was so well developed that I was actually shocked almost? Anyway if you want a fun, goofy, sexy, dare I say poignant book check this one out.
