Funny, fantastical, and incredibly steamy! Lemming delivers a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy romance in a well developed world.
Cinnamon has lived her whole life trying to avoid being called on to be a hero for the goddess Myva. Her careful plans are ruined, though, when a demon attacks her, setting off a chain of events that may lead her death, or love, depending on how her adventure goes.

I had so much fun reading this book! I found Lemming’s writing to be fun. Her world building was enjoyable!
The journey the characters went on was written well and the characters and their relationship developed well. The interactions between all the characters were funny and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Okay so I made the dumbest (or most genius, depending on how you look at it) decision and started this book at like 9 o’clock on a work night and got so hooked I stayed up until around MIDNIGHT binge reading the story because I was so hooked. If y’all don’t know me, well know this: sleep is sacred to me. If I stay up past my self-appointed bedtime to finish a books, then that’s a dang good book!
🍻almost reverse grumpy/sunshine
🍻reluctant heroine
🍻sinnamon roll demon
🍻forced proximity
🍻a dragon is involved 👀
🍻Touch/hurt her and you ☠️…unless she graces you with mercy
🍻morally grey
🍻quest to fight evil
🍻she loves to cook 🤤
🍻he’s a violently protective softie (see above: morally grey)
🍻various demon types (dragons and werewolves and lamia, oh my! Plus more)
I walked into this one quite blind actually and am very glad I did. Beyond knowing it had a hilarious title, a gorgeous cover (original and revamp), and the fact that several of my Booksta friends highly recommended it, I knew next to nothing about this book and the sequels that follow. And honestly, I think it was for the best so I could experience every single bit of the book for the first time while reading it myself.
Our FMC Cinnamon is a girl that prides herself on avoiding the limelight. That is more comfortable staying at home and eating mounds of cheese than being considered to be The Chosen One for adventures or saving the world (truly a profoundly introverted mood that I can support 👏🏻👏🏻). So of course, the moment she gets super drunk after dying her hair Main-Character-bright-pink, she runs into and saves a demon. That one interaction starts a whole chain of events that ropes her into the very adventure and role she’d been trying to avoid her whole life.
The banter had me cackling but then that spice?? Holy heck that snuck up on me sometimes amidst all the laughter. A perfect blend of the paranormal and comedy and smutty goodness of romance. Honestly it was just an overall wild and wonderful ride that I can definitely see myself returning to in the future to reread again and again to reexperience Cin and Fallon’s love story adventure.

Although Cin has never had aspirations of adventure, when she accidentally saves a handsome demon, she is drawn into a quest to rid her country of a lich masquerading as a goddess.
What really sells this novel is the humour that is grounded in both plot and characters. Cin is a reluctant heroine with a quick retort and Fallon finds her charming. The book is well paced with a cast of quirky characters that are sure to expand the universe. I look forward to reading the next installment.

This was such a fun read, I truly had a blast while reading it. It is definitely one I will always come back to!

I liked the STORY, but I didn't care for the writing. It felt too modern and anachronistic. That being said, I really liked other things about this story. I loved that the MC was a woman of color. I enjoyed the world that Lemming created. I wished there had been a little more characterization for the side characters, but it was still nicely done. I just felt like the language of the writing took me out of the story too much. I wanted to love it, but it's a 3 star for me.

Oh wow. I mean i get how people can like this but I didn’t love it. And I wanted to so bad :/
It did have a cozy underlining feeling. It was fiction in the most ridiculous manner, and I understand how you can so easily fall into it and live in this cozy fantasy world.
I just wasn’t the biggest fan.

A very lovely romance, I loved reading about their romantic journey to happiness. I very much recommend reading it!!

One of those books where you can absolutely tell if you have the right audience when you mention the name. I first read it out of sheer curiousity, but ended up really enjoying it! Hilarious, thought-provoking twists, and loveable characters.

This book was incredibly cringey. I could not get through the first 3 pages. I was looking for a fun fantasy romance but this was unreadable.

"That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon" is a fast-paced, fun, somewhat ridiculous fantasy romp and I loved it!
This is a pretty short read, so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting. The characters, setting, and plot were so well done and absolutely delightful to read. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the lines and utterly enjoying the spice. If you’re turned off by modern language and sayings in your fantasy, this may not be the book for you, but it was just right for what I was looking for.
This book does touch on some heavy themes but the tone remains light-hearted and quirky.
I will absolutely be continuing with this series and I can’t wait to see what comes next!!
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I needed a good light read and this was exactly it. It was a quick read and as much as I love an enemies to lovers trope I also love when the main character doesn’t fight against her wants for too terribly long! Look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I first read this when it was self published. I absolutely love the new covers! The heroine is spunky and hilarious. The whole series is full of crazy antics and the BEST spice. Highly highly recommend.

Full disclosure - I already knew that I loved Kimberly Lemming since I have already read these.
These books are wonderful to read - strong characters, fun storylines, and interesting takes on typical fantasy and romance tropes. When I first read these a few years ago, I loved them, and re-reading them now they are even better than I remembered. I'm sure in part just my memory blurred some parts, but I think there has been some editing and changes that have only improved the story. My favorite part about this book is just the general humor of them - they are a breath of fresh air. The story is engaging and past faced so there is that thrill of adventure, but also the humor at the mild ridiculousness that they find themselves in. The world building was the perfect balance of fully realized with its own new takes and twists, without overloading or turning into info-dumping.
It's great to see a more Indie author become mainstream, but still have all the vibrance and uniqueness from being able to be truly themselves - I think that's where some of the best books lie (at least this one does). I can't wait to re-read all the rest (and have many many more)!

Cinnamon a spice farmer has a little too much to drink and on her way home she helps save a sexy demon by the name of Fallon. Cinnamon is tough, awesome and cool. Fallon is handsome, sexy and also a badass. They story is engaging and fast paced. The slow burn between the two makes you want to find out more. They are very steamy together and you just want them to stay with each other. This was my first fantasy romance and the writing wants you to read more. I am looking forward to read the other books in the series and to find out more about Cinnamon, her family and her life. Highly recommend this book.

"That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon" by Kimberly Lemming is a delightful rom-com fantasy that combines humor, romance, and adventure in a unique and entertaining way.
The story revolves around Cinnamon, a spice trader who desires nothing more than a peaceful and uneventful life on her family's spice farm. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she saves a fiery demon named Fallon while in a wine-induced stupor. Fallon has a mission: to defeat an evil witch who has enslaved his people. Despite Cinnamon's reluctance to get involved, she finds herself drawn into an adventure that is anything but ordinary.
One of the novel's strengths is its irreverent and witty humor. The banter between Cinnamon and Fallon is genuinely funny, and their interactions provide plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. Cinnamon's dry and sarcastic humor contrasts perfectly with Fallon's fiery and sometimes clueless personality, making them a lovable and entertaining duo.
The world-building in this book is creative and well-executed. It blends elements of fantasy with a contemporary setting, creating a unique and engaging backdrop for the story. The magic system, including demons and witches, adds depth to the narrative and enhances the overall enjoyment.
The romance between Cinnamon and Fallon is a central theme, and it's executed with charm and sweetness. Their relationship develops naturally, and the chemistry between them is palpable. Readers who appreciate a slow-burn romance with witty dialogue and sizzling tension will find this aspect of the story particularly satisfying.
Despite the lighthearted tone, the novel also explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and the idea that sometimes life's adventures find you when you least expect them.
"That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon" is a delightful and entertaining read for fans of romantic fantasy. Kimberly Lemming's clever writing and memorable characters make this book a fun and enjoyable romp through a fantastical world. If you're looking for a book that combines humor, romance, and adventure, this one is worth a read.

I don't have too much to say about this one other than I enjoyed it. It was cute, silly, and a bit funny at points. I think it 100% delivered on what it intended to. This is a light-hearted, unserious, spicy romance fantasy book with not a lot of depth or character development. The book would have benefitted from taking a bit longer to build the tension between Cinnamon and Fallon but overall, it really did allow me to turn my brain off and just enjoy this fluffy romance. I think if you enjoyed Ice Planet Barbarians, this will really work for you. It has the same tropes/feel but with more of a fantasy vibe.

I genuinely don’t know what to say about this experience other than it made me laugh?
Was it supposed to be funny.???

A close friend recommended this book to me, so the minute it went up on NetGalley I had to grab it. If you want a fluffy, spicy fantasy romance this was SUCH a good read. My only gripe is I wish it were longer with more drawn out yearning and more general fantasy world stuff. I would have loved to see more of the world, or stay in certain areas a little longer, build up some of the side characters more, and have the romance between the love interests build a bit so there was more depth and not quite a 0 to 100 instant connection like there was.
I found the plot itself to be pretty good, especially for what is more a fluffy fantasy than anything. It was predictable but still good. The side characters were a lot of fun and had a ton of personality when on screen, enough so that I still remember their names because they stood out so much. The steamy scenes were pretty good--I don't have much to comment on that as I don't usually read books for spicy content. I honestly was just here for the romantic banter and dramedy of it all.
If you're looking for a quick fantasy romance with a side of adventure, some sexy stuffs, and a really fun protagonist, I highly recommend.

A quick, spicy fantasy with surprisingly lovely descriptions of food! This book is perfect for someone looking for an easy, fun read.
