Mahy helpful activities for the kids I work with! Will be buying copies for my practice. I like the self assessment and being able to go straight to what’s helpful!

I really liked this book as a resource. I am a mental health therapist and I can see myself using this book with clients.

Downloaded to use in my professional practice. I work with teens and I wanted more information and ideas and techniques to implement. A great way to integrate in your practice.

This book is an incredible resource! It’s relatable, age appropriate, and a gift to our teens. I’m so thankful this book was written and can’t wait to let teens in my life use it to reduce stress, learn skills, and feel encouraged. I recommend this to all counselors and families.

This was an interesting workbook! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist that works frequently with teens, so I was excited to see this available on NetGalley. The authors are clearly researchers who have done a great deal of exploration into the common stressors experienced by adolescents, and how this affects them. My one complaint about this book was the focus on changing your emotions, rather than accepting your emotions and changing your response to them (which may alter them). I wish that the radical acceptance in this book had been extended to include feelings and internal experiences, as well as external ones. The conflation of feelings and actions made it seem as though in order to avoid acting a specific way (i.e. yelling), you need to stop feeling a specific way (i.e. mad). I disagree with that premise and think that, while we do not control what emotions arise, we can do things to adjust those emotions and our responses to them. As a result, the focus on decreasing the frequency of specific emotions, rather than changing behaviors in response to these emotions or using behaviors to moderate the intensity of these emotions, didn't land for me.

With that being said, this was a pretty good overview of DBT concepts for teenagers. Thanks so much to Debra M Garcia, PhD, and Wilson Ho, MFT, for this ARC through NetGalley. The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook for Teens will be available November 1st, 2023!
