I like the idea behind this book - it’s unique, and fills a clear gap in the market. The book is full of a lot of helpful and reflective practices and passages. I think if you are able to be reflective within yourself, this is a good book to consider race in the world around you and how everyday racism is affective your real world experiences.

However, the chapter on religion spoils the book for me. This is clearly for an American audience, so I can understand the thinking behind it. But psychological well-being and religion are 2 separate things, and with the chapter being placed so close to the end it makes the reader feel as though a solution to their problems is god, rather than give them an opportunity to reflect upon religion in their life int he same way they are asked to reflect on everything else.

But that is one bad chapter out of many, so 4 stars overall. It’s a good book, and I would recommend it.
