Feedback on "PRESERVING THE ETCHINGS OF THE MIND" by Jaime A.B. Wilson

The book provides a clear explanation of dementia. It makes a valuable point that dementia is not a normal part of aging, which is a common misconception. This distinction is crucial for raising awareness and reducing the stigma around dementia.

The prevalence and the age of onset are helpful in understanding the scope of the problem.

The risk factors associated with dementia are invaluable.

Useful illustrations enhance the comprehension of the concepts presented.

I appreciate the detailed referencing in the book.

I would recommend this book.

I just finished Dr Wilson’s excellent treatise on dementias and was impressed to say the least. As a non-mental health practitioner, my first impression was the readability and accessibility to the layperson. I loved the wonderful metaphor in the title. I was engaged from the start, and as an aging adult with deaf family members I anxiously read the descriptions of signs and symptoms with myself and family in mind.

I was so impressed with the simultaneous accessibility of the material and the scientific rigor of evidence-based conclusions. What a comfort and confidence builder to be armed with knowledge that we’re not helpless as we move through the mental health challenges we all face. If only I had read this book 40 years ago!
