Sparks has described the angry that a small child might feel through a series of illustrations and rhyming text. As Albie’s, the little monster, emotions grow, they are uncontrollable and lead to a series of natural catastrophes. In the end, however, he learns some steps to control his anger. I think this would be a great book for preschoolers. I thank NetGalley and ViaNova Productions for the opportunity to read this ARC.

My 4 year old LOVED these so much that he asked me to read all 3 books one right after the other. Then we headed over to Amazon to see if there were more books and are sad to report that there are not. Though he does hope the author decides to write more books about the monsters on Mill street.

These books are super quick and fun to read. They rhyme and depict different monsters who are facing a struggle with a different emotion or task, of course by the end of the book the monster realizes they simply can’t have it be this way and they give kids simple steps to follow to resolve the issue.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to review this ARC with honesty.

I read this with my almost four year old that enjoyed hearing about Albie (bonus points since our pet is named that) who struggled with his anger. It was a unique take on learning to work through your anger by focusing to the five senses and the things around you to calm down.

My kid smiled at the monster finding friends.

I loved reading this book.
The story rhymes, and it just made me want to sing throughout the book.
Which made it a very fun experience.

I really liked the illustrations that accompanied the impactful story. And how, in just a few words, he conveys lessons for children to use in their daily lives, showing them in the exhibition.

A super adorable story.

Thank you so much to ViaNova Productions and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Albie is small but his temper is huge, when he gets angry he can get large, as a storm rolls in and he gets worse, causing chaos on mill street. He realises this isn’t what he wants and has to find a way out of the storm he created.

This was my favourite of the three I’ve read in this series, it’s was actually really sad and very beautiful. Albie didn’t know how to understand or control his anger and it got worse and worse with each time it happened until he could no longer contain it at all. He didn’t want to be so angry but had no idea what else to do with everything just getting to him.

He caused such a mess with his anger, a flood, storm and tornado, but when he wanted to stop he took a step back and found the beauty in things and took a deep breath, he found friends and helped fix the mess. This is what makes this a perfect book for parents as lots of children have anger problems that they don’t understand or can’t control. This would be a great read to help them understand it and that they can find help, they can learn to regulate and let the anger out without it being a big anger ball.

The Illustrations are always beautiful within this book, the story still so imaginative, I enjoyed seeing the literal showcase of his anger and he he grew and grew, how the flood came from his angry tears. Such a beautifully done book, so much heart, so many sweet monsters and done in a fun rhyming story.

A cute picture book about controlling your anger and not letting it control you. The graphics were fun and the kind of rhyming words were good. I think kids will like Albie the monster and learn something at the same time.

The Angriest Monster on Mill Street written by Sarah Sparks and illustrated by Sypha Venders is such a great kids book! I am a psychiatric social worker at an elementary school and will be purchasing this book to read to the kiddos I work with. I teach all the kiddos I work with about coping skills and how they can be used when they are feeling big emotions. This book is a great example of the five senses coping skill :)

Another cute installment from the Monsters on Mill Street. The rhyming story contains a bit of silliness and a lesson learned, and the illustrations are adorable.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to reading these with my grandchildren.

This book is so well written! My kids and I loved reading the story about the angriest monster, how he got that way, and how he learned to calm down his anger. I Love social emotional books and this is a great one to add to the shelf. Relatable and intelligent, perfect for young kids.

A book that helps young readers to understand that sometimes our behavior when we are angry can be destructive. And that if that happens it is important to clean up the messes that were made and apologize to those you've hurt while throwing a fit.

This is very well done for young readers. As a mom with a preschooler who has big feelings, we enjoyed this one. New perspectives on how to view this and come down from the anger are well appreciated.

This is the 2nd one I've read with my son's ages 4 & 6. They both loved it. The book did a great job explaining the big feelings the monster was feeling and the mess and chaos that comes with throwing a fit. I loved that they gave examples of how to calm down and be aware of your surroundings to come down from the big feelings your having. The book ends with the monster cleaning up his mess and making some friends that can help him next time he feels this way. This book will be a great resource to teachers, therapist, and parents who have kids with anger issues.

This was a cute book. I appreciate that it sets the precedent that being upset isn't a bad thing. It's only bad if you let it get out of control and hurt others. Good lesson for a kids book. The art was also cute and captivating without being too busy.

This book, written in verse, is bright and fun… and helpful!

• It is designed to help children develop social-emotional learning skills and children will definitely recognize some of their own behaviors in the story.

• The Angriest Monster is all about controlling tempers. In the story, the monster’s anger created a lot of havoc. But even the monster understood his behavior was destructive, both to himself and others. He learned how to calm himself down and cope with his anger in a less destructive manner.

• This is a cute book with a great lesson. The book is 34 pages long and targeted at readers 3 to 8 years old. Perfect for any home or primary school library.

Thank you @NetGalley and ViaNova Productions for an eARC of these books, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I was able to read three books by this Author and in this series and I loved them all. This one helps children identify their emotions and I know that is hard for kids to do, so this will be a great read for every child! I will definitely recommend this to my patrons at the library!

The Angriest Monster on Mill Street is another great book in the mill street series. The author has done an incredible job of picking out behaviors that many children struggle with these days and write a story to help explain these behaviors and how to deal with them. I think that’s a huge issue with young kids these days - they have all these emotions but have not been taught what they mean or how how to manage them. So meet Albie - he is a monster that has a horrible temper and gets so angry that utter chaos erupts around him. Albie has to learn to not only control his tantrums but also fix the mess they cause. What I found interesting in this book is that it can show a child how big their tantrums can turn or be perceived when I often think they don’t realize how their anger comes across. (At least this is my experience some as a mother). As with the other books, the illustrations are bright, colorful and will definitely capture the attention of a child. The cute rhyming prose will help keep a child engaged and teaches some valuable lessons on anger management in a cute, entertaining way.

“But now when he’s mad, Albie knows how to cope.”

I really recommend these books to teachers and guidance counselors at schools. Great stories with great lessons in a way that kids will be able to relate to.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a colorful way to teach children how to deal with big emotions and giving them the skills to do so. I wish I had something like this when I was younger.

What a great way to show how big tempers can feel and help show children how other people see their tantrums. It really helps visualize and show that others have big feelings as well but that they have other options and to see that they question why Albie did it so they can reflect on their own actions.
