“Take a deep breath and remember to say: ‘All will be well, and I am okay’” I needed this book. THis was a spectacular book and I wanna share it with the world. This is a children’s book that every adult needs to read. I know we all go through hard times in life and we don’t know how to get through it. We may not realize it but children go through those hard times too, but they may not understand and know how to deal with those feelings or explain them. That's why this beautiful book is perfect to share with your little ones. Wow! Such big emotions when I read this book. This story is packed with ideas for our little ones and even us adults to use to help conquer those hard feelings and times. I would love to quote every page because each one is so meaningful in so many ways. We did have a few favorites like when “your heart pounds like thunder” and “you can’t catch your breath” it tells you to say “this feeling will pass, there is no danger here. I am just fine, there is nothing to fear” Me and my little one needed this book. Gentle, colorful and imaginative illustrations add to the outstanding impact of this book. You will love this and treasure it as much as we do. We received this as an ARC but I am definitely buying it for our home library and to share with some friends and family. This would also be a great idea to share in the classroom. Enjoy this book, trust me it's just what we needed to share.

This would be a good book for an SEL lesson to demonstrate what anxiety is like, that everyone deals with it to some degree, and some ways to help cope with it.

A Wallop of Worries is a very sweet book about tacking anxiety and stress. Unfortunately, anxiety is becoming more prevalent in our young people these days and they need the tools and information as to how to tackle it.
This book gives different strategies about how children (and adults) can manage those emotions. There is a lot of practical advice with simple things all children can do to help remove those worries they have. It gives the reader 5 things to centre oneself to reality. The illustrations and poetry throughout the book are beautiful.

My daughter is struggling with her feelings and I felt it helpful to get some journals and reading we could do together.
This book really helped her open up a little better. I think we have both benefited from reading this

A potentially really useful book, but one I felt too full – the snappier lesson seemed the better in this instance. Don't get me wrong, there is not too much to read here, and it is all in easily-read rhyming verse. But in being a book about telling a kid how to snap out of a low mood, it seemed to offer too many suggestions. First we're being made aware of the temporary nature of our quibbles with life, then we're being mindful, then we're offered up several verses to chant and meditate with, then we're being mindful again, engaging with all the senses – and that's as well as having hugs, doing jumping jacks and so on and so forth. There is so much here, and it all has to be prettily illustrated – it's certainly that – but the metaphor of the wallop of worries (think Mr Blobby, unfortunately) can barely get a look in. I think even a younger me would have been very suspicious of a book pointing to so many ways to put something right. Three and a half stars, mind – and the visuals are a great calling card for their creator.

A Wallop of Worries is an adorable book that demonstrates tools they can use when they get worried or scared. I am a chronic worrier and have seen the benefits of these strategies in my own life! This book will be a staple in preschool/elementary classes to teach students about wellness and how to cope with difficult emotions.

A wallop of worries is a children’s book about the different feelings we feel and how to manage them, with illustrations and poetry. ”Now, try to feel peace and find a sense of calm, because no wallop of worries ever lasts very long. Or, when you feel worried, from your head to your feet, try using a phrase that you can repeat.”

As a person with anxiety, this was a well written book about feeling anxiety and stress: I hope young readers will benefit from reading this book where they have included list 5 things to center oneself to reality. With nicely written text alongside amazing illustrations that fit the text a lot. ”It will get better, do one thing at a time. I can’t get to the top, without having to climb.”

Lovely book to help children who battle anxiety and worries. Loved the practical advice of simple things any child can do to help when worries take over. We need more books such as this to help children find ways to not let worries and anxieties take over their mental well-being.

This was so lovely! I loved that it rhymed and I really adored the illustrations. I especially liked that the same children were used consistently in the illustrations. I also really liked that it takes children through the five senses and gives helpful strategies to be able to know what to do with those emotions. I think some children might find it difficult to relate to because there is no story/plot as such but still a really lovely book!

This is a wonderful and well illustrated children's book on feelings. It addresses the various types of feelings children encounter and how they can tackle their feelings. It teaches children to take a deep breath and repeat that they are okay. It's perfect for children who are learning how to handle the changing times. I absolutely enjoyed this book.

Anxiety can be overwhelming, but with some tips, children can learn resilience.

The advice in this book as a whole is referred to as a "tool box" to help fight anxiety. Some of the things children can do are assure themselves that they are okay, everything is going to work out, and that they shouldn't be afraid to try new things. Other ways to handle these feelings are to distract themselves by doing things they love and spending time with people they care about. When it all seems like too much, they can slow down and take in their surroundings. Stop and smell the roses - literally! They should focus on the sensations from their five senses.

This was a cute book with advice that's actually good for anyone at any age going through a storm of their own.

I thought this was an adorable book. The illustrations were colorful and very kid friendly. I love when stories can teach kids about feelings and that having worry and/or some fear is normal and okay to feel. This book teaches them strategies for how to overcome which is great!

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for giving me an ARC copy for my review ( and my classes review). First off, I appreciate the rhyming scheme of the book. It flowed easy for the kids in class, and helped keep them engaged. I also appreciated the illustrations. It was helpful and clear for the kiddos in my class to understand.. The concepts were definitely big concepts to grasp, but the pictures were easy to understand ( and super cute ). I enjoyed the clear instruction for the breathing technique that it gave, and we practiced in class. We practice affirmations, so I enjoyed that being mixed in as well. My favorite part was going through the grounded technique that involves all of their senses as well. Extremely useful tools.

I loved it and the kiddos did too! Great work!

A Wallop of Worries provides young readers with a toolbox full of resources to ease their stress and anxiety. Kids have not yet learned the skills for managing worry. Alyssa Caparaso Hurley provides a beautiful book full of lyrical ideas on rejecting worry and stress. Many simple tricks are presented like singing a song or talking to a friend. The author even adds a focus on sensory awareness to shift the worry elsewhere. This is one book that should be in the hands of all children. Very highly recommended for all to read.

We don't like to think our children are stressed or worried, but they are. This is the perfect book to help them put words to their feelings and find healthy ways to manage stress, worry, and fear. I love it!

A Wallop of Worries does a great job of exploring different ways to identify and address anxiety in young children by ensuring that their feelings are validated appropriately and that they are given age-relative and practicable skills throughout the book. This would be a great addition to any SEL collection especially for those who need help with anxiety and for others developing empathy for those dealing with it.

With rhymes here and there, this picture book deals with worries and lots of emotions. Go ahead and read about the children who practice positive thinking with friends and by themselves. Anxiety and stress can bloom from within, but keeping a healthy attitude can help oneself in the long road. It's colorful, from the fields of yellow to the shady vines of green. "A Wallop of Worries" can help any age let go of those pesky worries and begin to feel happy inside.

A Wallop of Worries is a wonderful tool for kids who deal with anxieties and fears. Adults generally have the awareness and the tools to deal with anxiety, but kids don't. Often they don't understand their feelings, and they don't know how to deal with them in a healthy way.

This cute rhyming book, with beautiful illustrations, helps kids identify their anxieties and negative feelings, gives them concrete ways to face them. From affirmations to other tools on mental health, this is a must for young kids. Absolutely recommend this for home and school libraries.❤️

This is an adorable book with rhyming text and really lovely illustrations. There is a lot of diversity in terms of the images of children portrayed in these pages, and care has been taken to make them seem cute and relatable.

The book is also packed with good practical advice for children who are experiencing anxiety, offering multiple ideas that may help.

It also tailors the suggestions to the particular form of anxiety the child may be experienceing, and gose further to suggest alternatives if one particular tool does not work as expected.

Affirmations are built into the text and the book also uses the well-known 5 senses method to allay anxiety. Highly recommended for young children who may be having problems with an abnormal level of worry or anxiety.
