ALTERED HELIX OMNIBUS collects three novellas of Near-Future (how near, one wonders) Dystopian Science Fiction, set in Kansas City, Missouri. Underscoring are Dark themes of socioeconomic dystopianism, potential for anarchy, federal government collapse, noncooperating states, homelessness; and a theme of black-market organ theft and transplants focusing on certain humans possessing "altered DNA." On the surface level the female Protagonist, Austria, is a semi-orphaned emancipated seventeen-year-old house-sharing with a good friend and hoping to become a writer. Mixed in are street kids, frat bros, and the good-guy owner of a Haunted House Attraction with a passion to uplift street kids and put them on a firm life footing.
But like the shadows that haunt Austria, the Dystopian darkness constantly threatens to overwhelm.

This is an interesting book. The plot is unique and, although we only have Austria's POV, we get to know and understand the side characters quite well.... but I would have love for Tiff, Josh and her father to have POV's too.
I will love to read more of your books.
