This was such a cute start to a new BL romance. The art is gorgeous and the characters are so adorable. I absolutely loved it! I have it on my “bookseller faves” endcap.

This is one of those manga that I expected to really enjoy but I'll admit, I did struggle to get through it a bit.

Don't get me wrong, the art style was brilliant, it was both cute and fluffy by turns and I'm intrigued to see what happens next but I did struggle to get into the volume at first and I'm still not quite sure why. I suspect it might be more of a right manga wrong timing kind of thing!

I do not support their relationship because Honda is such a jerk. He was nice to Kaido at first, but when he made fun of Kaido and then doubled down ALL BECAUSE he was possessive of Kaido, I really started to hate him. Kaido was so cute though. I had to give this 3.5 stars because of him and only him.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha USA for the e-ARC!

really fun mm manga! I loved the characters and the art style was adorable. I loved how sweet the characters were even though one was a supposed bad boy and the other is popular.

DNF

I tried twice to go forward with this volume but I just couldn't keep going on.
I really didn't like the story nor the concept nor the drawings.
Unfortunately, another BL that wasn't able to get my attention. Maybe the BLs going in a comedy direction aren't for me and I simply prefer deeper stories instead of funny and light ones...

Thank you to Kodansha Comics and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this manga. This is a soft MM romance with Tokasastu involved (which was brief and hope it continues on throughout the series) It reminds me of Sasaki and Miyano in the characters but I Hear the Sunspot when it comes to the drama and the plot. I think my only issue is that the tone drastically changed towards the end of the volume. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars

It was a nice reading. I wasn't fond of the drawings, it felt a bit sketchy. The story was interesting, and I liked the evolution between the two characters. It was nice seeing by what kind of thoughts they were going, especially on how the were imagining that the other would react on them loving the other one. It was also pretty cute at some times. Overall, I liked it pretty much.

I received an eARC of this title through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I was not sure what to expect of this title honestly. But I thought it was kind of cute in the beginning. The “tough” guy at school turns out to be a big softy and the other character is an extrovert.

The artwork is well done and the story is interesting. The conflict toward the end is real. It felt like a real high school with rumors and becoming friends and how others react.

I would read the second volume as the first is mostly about how the two main characters met and realize their feelings for the other.

This book started out well in my opinion - the characters are high school boys and do act a bit immature, but that wasn't something that was a huge bother for me. The manga is compared to Sasaki and Miyano and Hitorijime My Hero, which are 2 of my personal favorites so I was automatically interested. Kaido does remind me a lot of Masahiro from Hitorijime My Hero and I really liked him as a character - he appeared to be very tough and like a delinquent almost, but then as you get to know him his character is very soft.

The thing that did bother me was the very end. I don't think the extra scenes needed to be added in at all, they didn't fit and honestly didn't make any sense because they seem to be out of context. Is it the future, is it right after they graduate? Who knows. The manga went from something I could have in my library to something I can't all because of a scene that didn't need to be included. Obviously, this is my personal opinion, I just didn't think it was necessary. Also the way the story seems to be set up it almost reads like a one-shot, but is listed as volume one.

Thanks to #NetGalley for an e-copy of #SuperMorningStar by Kara Aomiya to read and review.

This was an okay read for me not the best but not the worst.

It's been a long time since I've read a BL manga, but I really liked this one! It's cute, the relationship development is fun, and the characters are enjoyable to root for. It's easy to see how they come together, to criticize the immature actions that come with youthful reactions to love, and it was interesting to see these characters' realize they have feelings for one another. This is a really enjoyable manga and I would definitely recommend it to my fellow manga readers. It's a cute story that's like a faster, super cute, Japanese Heartstopper.

I LOVED THIS. I can’t wait to read more in the series.

Kaido is a “scary delinquent” but really is a softy and honda is more of the popular guy but they become really good friends and maybe more….

I loved the story and how cute they act towards each other. I enjoy the coming to terms with each of their sexualities. It is well done and I also enjoy they realize their feelings in book one and I’m excited to see how dating, school life, and everything else will go for them in the next books.

Super Morning Star was very cute and I loved how it was about a high schooler, Kaido, who acts as a sort of power ranger and does all the action moves himself. The main couple, Kaido and Hondo, were cute but I didn’t really feel their chemistry. Also, Hondo said and did some shitty middle schooler stuff to Kaido and I did not like that. He did apologize and say how that wasn’t right of him, but still…

There's some promise here. I can tell somewhere in here is a good idea, but I'm sorry to say that the first volume didn't do enough to grab me and hold me. This may sound harsh, but I'm just being honest when I say in a few weeks I'll probably forget I read this. It's not bad, but it's not good. Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.

When Honda bumps into his classmate Kaido at a local superhero show, where Kaido works as a parttime performer, Honda is initially avoiding Kaido because there are a lot of rumors going around of him being a thug.

Honda is just there working for the day and when he starts talking with Kaido and he pushes Kaido into having dinner together, he finds out Kaido’s secrets and that he’s actually a kinda nice and ambitious guy. What I mean with kinda nice is that especially at the start of this Manga, Kaido can be mean (like making fun of Honda) but it’s no match for how awful Honda behaves.

Before and during dinner, Honda constantly alternates between being incredibly mean (and pushy) and complimenting Kaido. This is awful to watch (and confusing!) but we soon learn that Honda is a very confused person (with a runny mouth and no respect for personal space).

There isn’t much of a story. Honda keeps being mean, pushy, obsessive and making Kaido feel very uncomfortable and me too if I’m being honest. I felt so uncomfortable, sad and sorry for Kaido. Because of how toxic Honda acts and because Kaido is so lonely that he lets him. I honestly wish they never met.

This is unfortunately a very forgettable read but there is probably an audience for this and the story did flow well so I was mild rating this.

A romcom about two high school boys navigating their crushes, while also trying to juggle jealousy and self-esteem. This book had some of my favorite dynamics in BL: rough looking softy bottom x sadistic social butterfly top. The gap moe really does it for me! Though their appearance was brief I enjoyed the side characters. I wish we had more panels of the athletic stunts! The bullying scenes were rougher than I expected and left a bad taste in my mouth even after they made it up. I had difficulty with the ebook format; specifically, swiping from left to right instead of the inverse. This made it difficult to take in two page spreads. I was a but disappointed, because I felt it spoiled the climax of their romance.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for sending this e-book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

The beginning of this story was cute and sweet, like a typical highschool romance where one person pursues the other for friendship - or more? It quickly became more of a romance type manga, but the jealousy Honda showed seemed to be more than was warranted - and more than should have been forgiven during one simple conversation/confession.

<some spoilers ahead>

I will admit that pacing seemed to be off at times, as after the confession they both suddenly admit to loving each other, despite them not having dated before that point - and Honda intentionally embarrassing Kaido due to jealousy. If this were a one-off comic I could forgive the speed of which it ended with them together, but if this was continued I think a proper ending would have been something like Kaido punching Honda for his actions and making Honda actually prove he would change for the better.

Also, the last chapters kind of confused me after they were together - as the timeline both insinuated they had graduated, but also did not tell me that at the beginning. So it felt like just the chapter after the confession. After the initial few pages there seems to be a flashback, but I thought it would have been better shown with something telling us that they’ve graduated - the flashback - and then indicating another timeskip.

The bones of this manga are there, and the relationship had cute moments, but overall I felt it was a bit rushed and underdeveloped to where they ended up at the end. Since this is the first in a series, I think there could have been more time dedicated to them bonding and becoming friends with feelings before a real relationship starts.

A huge thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Kodansha Comics for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was so cute! We follow our two main characters, Kaido and Honda. They are classmates but there are tons of rumors swirling around about Kaido - that he's a delinquent, that his hair is bleached because it was stained from blood, all sorts of rumors. But Honda is determined to get to know Kaido. Over the course of the volume, they become friends and then even more.

This was a really sweet manga and I can't wait to read more of it!

I missed reading a bl manga and this made me wantimg to read more of this manga genre.
The characters were so cute mostly Kaido when in appearance seems cold and mysterious when at the end and inside he's such a cutie and the drawimgs do justice to make him so sweet. He's vero appassionate toward his bobbies and rhis male him a good character.
The other character, Honda, the main one made me laufgh sometimes for his little sadistic side even if when he started the conflict and I wasn't really happy but I was glad that it was solved, more or less, quickly.
I wouldn't mind countinuing this serie because i want to see more ofvtheir story and mostly the interaction between them, that's very funny.
And not less important Inrealy enjoyed the art style
It's a good volumes for people who want a simple and cute manga with a bit of serious parta.I.

Thanks NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this arc!

3/5 stars

I thought this was ok. I didn't really like how mean Honda was when he was jealous, I understand he was confused with how intense his feelings were, but all the things he blabbed about Kaido after specifically saying he wouldn't, idk. I get having motor mouth when you're anxious, but I just felt so bad for Kaido 😅 It didn't matter tho because they got together in the end, which is good for them. I probably won't read more of this series though, it just kind of fell flat for me
