To be honest, I enjoyed this quick read. The story isn't particularly original and you have to go into it with an open mind (and reasonable expectations), but the characters are well-differentiated and the artwork is cute.

Sadly I did not enjoy this one. I went into this with an open mind, since this is not at all my kind of genre in manga. However, I found this to be very boring in terms of character stereotypes. This being a harem you have a lot of different kind of girls, though none of them really seemed interesting. That could of course change with later volumes.
What I liked was the art style, the girls all look really cute. With the nice artwork and the possibility of more in-depth character writing, I can recommend this manga to anyone who likes stories similar to the quintessential quintuplets, which this reminded me of.

I enjoyed the artstyle in this and the weird concept, which is similar to Quintessential Quintuplets in the marriage of convenience, harem, and studious main male character. However, this volume was too long to keep my attention since it is like other stories and I would recommend it if you'd sit through it. 4 out of 5 stars

Despite the fan service we get here and there this was a cute read.
Don't get me wrong it was nothing too exciting nor new or anything, but it's definitely a good read to pass the time and that free hour.

The story does have those appealing elements and it was ended in the perfect way too need another volume to see what will happen.

The characters are okay and as I said it's a pretty fast read to pass the time.

If I made it a drinking game, to drink every time something perverse happened I would have had alcohol poisoning.
I haven't run into a manga that made me cringe this bad in a long time, and the terrible thing is it's a plot I could have probably gotten behind if it didn't somehow have 2 (3?!?) boob grab scenes in just the first chapter.

10/10 don't recommend.

Uryu Kamihate is preparing for medical school while living in a shrine with three sisters who are maidens.

Uryu's first meeting with the Amagami sisters is awkward and weird; later, he accidentally gets caught in a compromising position with the sisters. On his arrival, he learns that he has to marry one of the sisters to take over the temple.

Things I didn't like were Uryu being into getting married, the youngest sister being 14 years old, and the fact that she had to go through a marriage interview.

As Manga progressed, we could see all three Amagami sisters' personalities were different from each other and their emotional sides and personal interests.

The manga was fun to read, and the art was beautiful.

I picked this up because of the shrine setting and the cover looked fun. However, there was just a ton of fan service and boobies in the manga. The male MC kept getting caught in compromising positions, which is a very common trope, but I felt like it was a bit overused here. It’s like every few pages he ran into boobs. He also has to pick a sister to marry, and they are all within his age range, although marrying the youngest sister would be a sketchy match since she’s only 14. The second half of the volume where he goes through the marriage interviews with each sister was nice in the sense that we got to see more of each girl’s personality. I wasn’t planning to continue the series, but the dream plot twist at the end made me want to find out what happens next. All in all, this was an ok manga.

Based on other reviews I had read of this I was expecting a harem manga with a bit more to it and because of that I was expecting that it wouldn't have certain tropes popular in the genre. Boy was I wrong.

While this wasn't the most ecchi thing I've ever read, it's very typical of the genre. So if you've ever read a harem manga before then you know exactly what to expect? The male protagonist falling on one of the girls and his face lands on a certain part of the body and then the others come to see what the commotion is and find them in a compromising position? Check. A group of girls of whom any could be the love interest but not really because it's quite obvious who it will be? Check. A questionably young character whos inclusion gives you the ick? Check.

Look, this isn't bad. It was cute and there were a few pages that made me smile. Would I ever finish it? Maybe.

As for you, if you're a fan of the harem manga and you haven't read this? Check it out. If you're not a fan then you should pass.

An incredibly fun start to this series about an orphaned atheist boy who ends up being taken in by a shrine, where he must live with three shrine maidens, one of whom he finds out he has to marry in order to inherit the shrine. A lot of conversation about the maidens' faith, the boys lack thereof, duty to others and helping others where people can etc. I got a slight hint that his dreams may become important, but I may be completely off-base with that!

A fun start with the girls each having distinct personalities, mishaps every couple of pages and a lot of comedy throughout. There are quite a few suggestive scenes but absolutely nothing happens, at least in volume 1. Definitely will continue this series, it seems like very good fun! Delighted to see there is a large amount of volumes out already so I will have to catch up!

On va suivre un jeune garçon qui veut entrer en fac de médecine. Pour cela, il va quitter le foyer où il vit pour être acceuilli dans un sactuaire. Dans ce santuaire, il y a le grand-père et ses trois petites filles "des moki". L'étudiant est vite embarqué dans un quotidien déchainé où il n'a aucune minute pour lui et ses études. Un jour, le grand-père lui propose de prendre la relève de la gestion du santuaire et il doit donc épouser une de ses petites filles.

Je ne sais pas trop quoi penser de ce manga. J'ai aimé dans l'ensemble l'histoire mais certaines choses m'ont posé problème...

Par exemple, dès les premières pages, on se rend compte du fantasme masculin très présent au niveau des représentations des femmes. Elles sont très souvents en sous-vêtement, la plus grande des soeurs a une poitrine très imposante et j'ai l'impression que son personnage tourne autour de son innoncence par rapport à cela. Le jeune garçon se retrouve littéralement plusieurs fois dans des positions compromettante avec les soeurs, allongée sur elles ou la tête dans leurs seins par exemple... Sachant que la plus jeune à 14 ans, je trouve ça assez problématique...

Je pense que si on rettirait cette vision dégradante de la femme dans ce manga, l'histoire pourrait être vraiment drôle et intéréssante.

This manga is about an atheist living rent-free at a shrine, with 3 shrine maidens, while he prepares to go to medical school.

Their first meeting is uncomfortable and it was a little over the top for me, that he found himself (accidentally) in compromising positions over and over with all of them. And I did not want to see (or hear about) boobs this much, but other than that, it was a nice story!

They go from awkwardness to the girls trying to make him leave after their grandpa tells them that his plan is that the boy marries one of them and inherits the shrine.

But eventually, when they really get to know eachother, they realize that they want to live together. If there’s a marriage or not, I guess we’ll find out in (one of) the next novel(s).

The art is well done, but that's about it for me. The story is flat, the characters are pretty stereotypical, and it's just not holding my attention - I've been trying to finish this for days. DAYS. I can usually read one of these in 20 minutes. I'm dnf'ing at about 64%. Can't struggle through this anymore lol

A gorgeous romance manga with an interesting plot line.

Uryu Kamihate wants nothing more than to study hard, go to university, and become a doctor. When he moves out of the orphanage and becomes a boarder at the Amigami Shrine, he expects his life to continue as usual.

He never expects that the old man in charge of the Shrine plans for Uryu to take over for him - by marrying one of his granddaughters.

The three girls couldn't be more different, and Yuna is determined to get rid of him. Uryu meets all their challenges, but concedes to giving up and moving on when their endless chores keep him away from his studies. Only to learn that there's no longer a place for him at his old home. Can he stick it out at the shrine? Does he really have to marry one of the girls?

So excited that I got an ARC from NetGalley for this, and I can't wait to see the next issue when it comes out!

Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister (Volume 1) by Marcey Naito is a manga style graphic novel currently scheduled for release on October 17 2023. Uryu Kamihate has had a rough start to life, but plans to forget it all by achieving his dream -- matriculating into medical school. But when he arrives at his new foster home, a working shrine, his dream of a quiet place to study goes up in smoke. Not only will he be living with three beautiful, lively Amagami sisters -- but he learns that he must marry one of them and take over the shrine!

Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister is a fun story. It is very well drawn, and I think the artwork and the story work together well. I had a few moments when reading that I was confused. I have watched a decent amount of anime and read a good deal of manga, and I had trouble figuring out what direction this story was going to go in- and honestly I still do not know. I thought the basics of the characters are all developed and there, same with several layers of set up. There are a lot of ways this story can go. It can get in to the spiritual aspects of shrines and beliefs, into Uryu finding his own path and succeeding, or a very complicated romance with one or three girls. In fact the story had all of these elements in it, and it could take all, one, or none of these paths. I enjoyed the book while reading, and this it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Uryu Kamihate is a 17-year-old orphan who is offered lodgings at a shrine in Kyoto. He intends to study hard to get to the university, but the three sisters also living there make things difficult for him. And then he learns that the price for the lodgings is marrying one of the girls and taking over the shrine. None of them are exactly happy about it, but they set out to getting to know one another.

This was cute. Uryu Kamihate was a good character who would’ve deserved some peace and quiet for his studies. The girls were a bit over the top. Illustrations were good with some gratuituous boob scenes. But it’s not so interesting that I’d continue with the series, even to find out who he eventually marries—or if it’s really all three of them.

Sorry previously to receiving this on NetGalley. I had actually read this book already and I didn’t realise until I put it in my Goodreads so I have now re-read this book and I still like it as much as I did the first time I think it’s cute, it’s adorable and it’s kind of about romance. It’s also about finding friendship with people who are different in religion and then coming to a middle ground I also like how he found something that was like from each of the sisters and how he tried with each of them, but I do think the middle sister is endgame. Personally I’m not really a Haram type Reader but this was actually really good and it was fun. It was a little over the top but it was still absolutely amazing would 100% recommend

The protagonist is a foster kid who is working hard to get into medical school and become a doctor. Right before he would get kicked out of the foster system, he was taken in by a Shinto priest and given a free place to live until he finished medical school. But there's a catch. He has to court and then choose one of the priest's granddaughters to marry to stay in the temple. This is honestly an interesting concept, but the execution of the story just really didn't hold my attention. All of the granddaughter's characterization is based HEAVILY on tropes, all of them largely cliche. They all feel a bit bland because of this. Unfortunately, I did not really care for this manga. It's mostly an ecchi comedy that relies heavily on the harem trope. It has some interesting basic concepts, but the over-the-top ecchi scenes that kept happening ended up really annoying me. You would get several ecchi scenes in every single chapter. It doesn't help that only a few pages in, you get a literal two-page full spread of an ecchi illustration. The art style was fine. Again, fairly typical quality of art for this style of story.

The cover is beautiful on the outside, and the manga inside is full of wonderful images.

I really liked the development of the story, full of comedy with a bit of romance and seduction.
We get to know each one of them and get into their story.
I loved him, he is dedicated and does everything he can towards his goals, but he lets compassion take over, and he end up caring for others.

I don't know what to think about that ending, I just want answers and the next volume.
