When a pair of trespassing boys discover a car within the lake of a private property, Police Detective Colt is galvanised. For the bodies of a couple who disappeared twenty years ago are inside the car.

Suspicion soon falls on the reclusive owner of said lake, Thomas Blakely. Especially as he has a habit of shooting at trespassers.

Zipping back in time, we then follow the story of Laura Blakely, subject of this cold case, as her story edges forward to her untimely end, whilst Colt tries to solve the mystery in the present. And there is no lack of suspects, any one of whom may have had enough motive to be the killer.

Recommended for all lovers of whodunnits and a good murder/mystery yarn.

A fifteen-year-old cold case heats up when a drought causes the water level to a lake and exposes a car in it.
In it is two bodies, could it be the missing persons from an old cold case? Colt worked that case back then but wasn't happy on how it was investigated. He is now more 'seasoned' and is NOT going to let another chance of finding out what happened slip away. A very good mystery. So many people got the answers wrong. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Interesting cold case mystery, a detective who doesn't give up, plenty of intrigue, and bodies found in a lake. Keeps you page turning to the end. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

A 15-year-old murder mystery – a husband wrongly suspected and a police detective who would not give up. This is a 4-star Colt Jessup book. I receive an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed are my own.

A pretty decent detective novel. A solid cold case storyline. Colt is a good detective protagonist, and there wasn't anything that I particularly disliked about him. All around, an enjoyable book, but it was nothing I haven't read before. Fairly standard.

After reading the description for this book I knew I had to read this.
This book had it all!
The main character, Dectective Colt Jessup is fantastic.

He is very hardworking and he is determined to solve this missing person's case and doesn't give up until he does.

The story itself is gripping and has you reading non stop to find out what is happening and has you guessing right the way through.

If you are into crime stories then this is the book for you!

I loved it such a brilliant read.

Colt Jessop was a new policeman when a couple go missing. 15 years on and there is drought. A car is found in a dried out lake. It contains the bodies of a man and a woman. Could this be the answer to the unsolved case from 15 years previously?
