Anyone here want a monster romance this is the book for you. I have recently got into monster romance so I was a little nervous going into this book but it is actually really good especially if you’re not hundred percent into the monster romance scene yet I thought it was fun it was cute it was whimsical and I also just generally love the romance and the way each of the characters interacted with each other, it was just generally really good book generally, and I would be reading more from the author and in the genre in future

I’m totally guilty of judging a book by its cover with Fate Unchained. I almost passed right by this gem. I’m so glad I did read it though. I’m fully invested now and need to go back and read the first two books in the series, plus I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book! I liked the world building, I liked the side characters, and I loved the spicy times.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another good addition to the series. I like how each character and couple has been different so far and how the story is moving along smoothly while going from new couple to new couple. I liked how Lilah sort of just went with things as they came at her, but it's so frustrating to have every couple fight the bonding and always create misunderstandings because of it.

Lilah has a rough life and things got worse when she was tricked into signing something making her responsible for a family member's debt. Now she is constantly hounded by a shady guy that knows of her unique magic skills to unlock books. As if things couldn't get worse already, turns out that he knows that Lilah also has the ability to decode and activate runes. Using his connections he gets it so that he owns her debts and if she doesn't pay he'll have her thrown in prison. And what he wants from her isn't the money. He ended up with the grimoire from the last book and he intends to capture a Vulk with what he's learned from it. He just needs Lilah and her rune abilities to do it.

Kyril is definitely not a friendly Vulk, as we have seen. While tracking the dark kabal, he sees a huge snow storm coming and decides to hunker down in a cave instead of meeting up with the others near by. He's taken off guard when Lilah shows up, and even more so when instead of running, she somehow takes him down.

Usually, Lilah is pretty smart, but she definitely had a stupid moment here. Her task was to use the rune spell from the grimoire to trap Kyril within pretty much a magical prison. But she felt so bad about what she did to make sure that he didn't attack her, that she was inside when she sealed it. Trapping them both. All things considered, Kyril doesn't take it as bad you'd expect. But they end up getting attacked by a shade and rune bound, and everything just becomes more complicated. But they do come to an agreement where they will help each other out. Kyril will help Lilah free herself from the guy manipulating her, who just so happens to be the guy with the grimoire Kyril must get back, and Lilah will help him with that.

These two do work together pretty well and it was nice to see a different side to the cold Kyril. When the other two Vulk show up it's time to go after the bad guy. And Morana. Because they now know where she's been hiding from them. It won't be easy, and these two will definitely make some frustrating decisions, but in the end they make their choice. Plus the Vulk do manage to get at least one win out this whole ordeal.

This was a strong third book in the Werewolves of Ulterra series, it had everything that I enjoyed from the first two books. I was invested in what was going on in this universe and from the authors writing. I enjoyed everything that was going on and can’t wait for more.

this. was. amazing.

I had no idea what to expect going into Fate Unchained from Jocelyn Montana. The book blurb said to me “read me, I’m what you like” and I listened. Result is I loved this book - I have a happy spot in my heart and feel tingly and sparkly and full of light. This is a story that really blends the larger connected storyline of the book series with the immediate romance between Lilah and Kyril.

we get:
🩶 A Fantasy Monster Romance
🩶 Grumpy-grump MMC
🩶 Fated Mate
🩶 Deal/Arrangement
🩶 Touch her and die
🩶 Dual POV
🩶 Found family
🩶 Forced proximity

Did I immediately go out and buy books 1 & 2 after finishing Fate Unchained? Absolutely! Was I squealing, giggling, kicking my feet when I found out about the couple in the next book? You betcha! This is for you if you like romantasy, paranormal, shifters, magic, mystery, danger, sweet and spicy.

I chose to read this book because of the Baba Yaga reference and the cover looked really cool. I enjoyed this book a lot. I need to go back and read earlier instalments in the series because I think I was missing some back story on the characters. I really enjoyed the overall writing of this book and the fun bookish quirks of the email female character were really fun to read.

Disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I’ve not read anything by the author before and so haven’t read the other books in the series. I got 35% of the way through the ebook and DNF’d. I’m usually a fan of fantasy romance, particularly fated mate tropes, but this fell short for me. The character development was lacking and I just didn’t buy into them. We got very little world building and then all of a sudden they were together.

Perhaps I would have had a different experience if I’d read the other books. With so little background I struggled to follow and the blurb read as though each book was standalone so I expected more.

I can't get enough of the Werewolves of Ulterra! Jocelyn Montana has become one of my favorite authors and can't wait for more adventures in Ulterra.
