This was a super cute romance between a studious college girl and the star of the basketball team. When Kendall helps Vincent find a book while she’s working the late shift at the library, the encounter suddenly turns steamy with a kiss. But after, Kendall is having second thoughts about whether she can put herself out there for the basketball star, or if she should just leave it as the one moment she would always remember where she was the main character, just like the romance books she reads.
This book was surprisingly spicy! I expected a little steam based on the premise, but it was a lot more than that as Kendall gave in to her desire to try new things. There were moments of laughter, embarrassment, and happiness for the characters as they figured out what came next.
Thank you to NetGalley and W by Wattpad Books for an advanced copy of this book!

I had high hopes for "Night Shift," but unfortunately, it resulted in another basic romance. The fact that it came from Wattpad was evident in the lackluster storytelling. The love story lacked depth and felt forced, making it difficult to connect with the characters. The book is easy, making it perfect for a cozy night in, but it failed to captivate me. Overall, it's a light and enjoyable read for anyone looking for a sweet and romantic escape.

Yikes. This one was a major miss for me guys. It was… bad. If it weren’t that NetGalley provided it, I wouldn’t even bother with a review. I don’t like writing negative reviews and usually just rate and move on when they aren’t my thing, but because I committed to an honest review in exchange for the book, I feel like I have to say something. So here goes… holy miscommunication trope, from a book loving character that supposedly hates miscommunication tropes. It felt so juvenile and immature, but spicy. Which honestly just kinda gave me the ick. The MCs were sorely lacking in character development and their relationship was instalove based on a makeout session minutes after meeting. I didn’t want to finish it but I do my darndest not to DNF ARCs. So here we are. Didn’t like, do not recommend.

This was a great steamy, college sports romance between the basketball star and a bookish virgin that was good on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Grace Reilly, Rebecca Jenshak and Elle Kennedy. I am so excited to read more by this author and could not get enough of her two main characters. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest feedback!

I have been wanting to read a basketball college romance for a while. I feel like we’ve mostly only gotten football and hockey so this was a really refreshing take on a sports romance. Not only does the cover cell its cuteness but so do the characters. There were a lot of cute moments, but also lovely writing to pair with it.

This was so so incredibly sweet I fell in love with Annie Crown’s writing! Definitely going to be looking for more from her.
The characters fit so well together and I actually didn’t want this one to end.
Thank you so much for the arc :)

Cute but spicy college/sports romance. The FMC loves to immerse herself in romance books but has that in strong independent woman attitude. She has a chance encounter with the captain of the basketball team that throws her off kilter, and allows fear to dictate her actions by not going after the MC. The attraction is strong between the characters but so is their connection. It was a fun read for me.

When Vincent comes in on Kendall's overnight library shift for a poetry book they don't realize it'll turn into much more.
I really liked this and it was an easy read.

This was such a great story.
Don’t let the cover fool you. It is book full of spice.
The banter between the characters was very well written and had me laughing. I read the book in three hours because I didn’t want to not know what was happening next. Will definitely read more books by the author!!

A great college-age sports romance. A fun romcom with a good mix of sweet and spicy. A fast but fun read.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Night Shift is a fun college romance novel that is well aware that it is a cheesy rom com type of book. It follows Vincent who is a hot shot basketball player that is more innocent then he seems on the surface and Kendall is a shy tall girl who loves reading romance books. Given that you can imagine that Kendall calls out every single trope that falls under the sun between her and Vincent.
The story itself is not super complex, but the gem of the story is really how self aware it is. It commonly breaks the fourth wall within itself, and I can see how some readers would not appreciate that, but I felt like it was super fun. The romance itself is a bit insta-lust, but in the end the couple is cute and fun, and has a lot of good vibes throughout the story.
Where this book can struggle is the amount of miscommunication in the story, and it feels like a constant struggle as the two main characters are trying to figure out their feelings and they are learning about themselves and each other at the same time. Also there are some pacing issues because it seems like they are somewhat on again and off again within a couple of pages due to assumptions.
So taking that into consideration, this book does have a bit of whiplash, but it's cute all and all. If you like fluffy fun romances I think this would give you a couple giggles along with having a really solid cute couple to follow in the beginning of their relationship.

First of all, I loved it. Vincent is an angel and I was in love right away.
The way they talk about tropes felt so real, it‘s literally how my friends and I talk about it but whyyyyy did it have miscommunication when they say they hate it?
It drove me crazy but well, it‘s typical for romances so it‘s fine.
I have to admit tho, Kendall got on my nerves sometimes. It’s probably because I can relate too much to the anxiety she feels and I don‘t like that about myself so of course it annoys me in her.
It was super relatable and kind of appropriate for the situations and informations she had at the time.
The whole time I thought it‘ll be a 5 star read. I loved it and was so addicted but then this suuuper long sex scene happened which took all the space for romance away which I honestly didn’t like. Totally fine with spicy scenes and it‘s cute how it went but it was too much in my opinion and not enough cutesy romance in the end.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an earc

Thank you for allowing me to read this book. I enjoyed the characters and their arcs, and found the plot interesting. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Hot and spicy! Devoured this book within a day. I don't know why it took me so long to read! Will definitely be looking out for Annie's next book!!

- steamy contemporary romance
- opposites attract
- golden retriever mmc
- sports romance
- cute banter
- spicy 2/5
As adorable as the cover :) It was a fluffy romcom college sports romance with some spice. Entertaining read, though somewhat predictable - though that's not always bad, sometimes we read books just because they're predictable :D

If you liked Ice Breakers you’ll love Night Shift. College sports romance where he falls first. This was a fast-paced spicy romance where the star basketball player needs a tutor to pass his literature class and keep his spot on the team. He finds his tutor and love in the library stacks one Friday night. The banter was fun, the character development made me love the MMC, and the spice was just spicy enough.

This book was fun and cute! Definitely felt amateur but was a light hearted sports romance! It was a bit too fluffy for my taste but would be willing to read another book by this author- i look forward to seeing them grow!

This was certainly a cute and fluffy book. I realized it is a Wattpad story, and I am so excited for the author to get it published! But, with the constant miscommunication that bypassed being called a trope, it become more frustrating than enjoyable.

This one didn't really capture my attention straight away, so I didn't really have much interest in finishing it.

From the promising synopsis, I was anticipating a cute college romance, but the execution left much to be desired. The novel fell short of my expectations and ended up feeling rather bland.
