I am new to the basketball romance book, I typically tend towards the hockey ones, but this was a nice change! I enjoyed the characters and how meta everything was. The callout of the tropes and how there romance isn’t like a book was cute way to move the plot along. I’m not sure the characters would have immediately kissed like they did, but maybe I did college wrong and people did that all the time? Either way, I enjoyed it and would read it again!

While Night Shift definitely has its audience, unfortunately, I don't think I'm a part of that group. I started it a couple months ago, but almost immediately stopped. I picked it back up this week because I wanted to give it an honest shot, even though the first chapter or two didn't grab me, but I'm officially dnf-ing at just under 20%. I wanted to like it. I was an English major, and I worked at the university library in college, like our FMC. Library girles deserve their moment. I I like college romances as much as the next girl, but the insta-connection, straight to making out situation in the library just didn't do it for this demi-sexual. Through no fault of the author, I was just struggling to connect with the characters, and one of my goals for this year is to not waste my very finite amount of time on books that don't absolutely capture my attention. (Also, even though I know a lot of people feel this way, right off the bat the author chose to have the FMC be ashamed of the "shirtless covers" on her romance novels, and that gave me the ick. Read romance proudly, babe!)
But if you like instant attraction college romances, featuring a FMC who loves romance books, definitely give this one a read.

This was such a cute, quick read. I enjoyed both the main characters a lot. If you're looking for a romance that's a little cheesy and a little spicy, this one is one to check out!

This was a really cute and easy read. If you want a book you can finish in one sitting this is the one for you.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the review copy of this title.
I really loved this story. The characters felt so real, especially the main character. Her thought spirals were way too real (in a good way). She was a little arrogant, but she is a college student, so that tends to be the arrogance of youth.

sweet and easy read! This book was very well written in terms of flow and intrigue. I will recommend to my friends :)

Think of Vincent, the MMC of this college romance book, as the basketball hottie version of Nate Hawkins from Icebreaker. He requests the help of our FMC, Kendall, introverted smut lover in the campus library one night while she is on the night shift. Throw in an unexpected late night make out sesh in said library & readers will swoon over these two on every page. The banter, tension & S P I C E in this book is *chef’s kiss.*
My only caveat was the amount of like ‘don’t be a trope’ talk from the FMC & her friends while simultaneously being a book trope (miscommunication mostly). I read this one in 24 hours so ya know it was good 😝 I would recommend it as a ‘pallet cleanser’ or a quick easy read for people who don’t mind a bit of cringe 😏

3.5 / 5 stars. i found the story incredibly unrealistic, although that's sometimes to be expected with wattpad books. there was a lot happening very quickly, with little to no character development and poorly used tropes to engage readers. unfortunately i just don't think the "insta-love" dynamic is for me, as this is one of several arcs i've read using the trope not executed well. i think if there was more development, the fmc had a lot of potential as the author was doing great work with her. the mmc? forgettable. unfortunately because of the insta-love plotline and the lack of development, i felt like this book could've easily ended much earlier on and the length a little unnecessary.

Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed. And I loved the college setting.

Honestly just the spicy book to bring me inner piece. It’s not trying to do too much and it was everything I wanted and more.

I really enjoyed this romance story between a basketball player and a romance reader. I thought the tutoring trope in this was done so well and I was hooked right away.
This was a super quick read with Insta love vibes between Kendall and Vincent. I absolutely loved both characters (and side characters). The story is very lighthearted, and the writing and pacing were fantastic.
There’s also a found family aspect in regards to Kendall’s roommates, I loved the friend group in this. I also absolutely loved how Kendall was a romance reader - so relatable.
Although both characters were amazing, I would’ve loved a bit more depth with each. I also wasn’t expecting it to have spice - the cover completely threw me off. I didn’t mind it though. There’s also a bit of miscommunication, which I didn’t love as much.
Charming, humorous, and enjoyable, Night Shift has such a rootable romance between lovable characters. This was a quick, easy, and engaging read! I would highly recommend checking this one out.
Thank you so much NetGalley and Wattpad for the review copy in exchange for my honest review!

2.5 stars - The book was cute and fluffy. Kendall and Vincent meet at the library where Kendall is working the night shift and instantly fall in love. However, my issue with the book was that for 80% of it, the plot revolved mainly around miscommunication between the two main characters. We do not know much about their personalities except Kendall is an avid reader, particularly of romance novels, and Vincent is a basketball player. The plot felt very rushed and some parts were cringy to me.
Thanks to W by Wattpad Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Uhn, I think this wasn't for me unfortunately. I did read this in one sitting, but it it wasn't anything new or exciting for me. I definitely wanted more character development. A cute little book to pass the time, but not something I would remember in the long run.
Thank you for Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a book lover, reading a book about a book lover is SENSATIONAL because GURL, I RELATE and I'm now like dreaming of working in a library and finding my perfect, hunky match. This was SUCH a cute, spicy, swoon worthy book and I adored EVERY ever loving minute of it!

🏀 this book made me relive all the reasons I have loved Wattpad since grade school, and this book is just everything I could have wanted and more (thank you, @wattpadbooks for the eARC that I am a tad late on point about 🙈)
🏀this book features ALL of my favourite troupes of the bookish lead, MMC falls first, major miscommunication, and so many more (also, the open door scenes were 😌💋). Kendall is our quiet bookend who spends her Friday nights working the late shifts at the campus library, and the last person she expects to encounter is basketball start Vincent Knight…let alone make out with him in the dark corners of the library 😳
🏀 while Kendall is living through her books, her real life is taking a turn for the bookish when she finds herself the main character of her own romance. Oh, this was such a fun and simply read, and while I did scream because of the miscommunication, I am still a sucker for them coming together in the end 💕

This new adult college romance is so good. I highly enjoyed the bookworm and the jock theme, one of my favorites. But the banter was cute and it was spicey so this was a solid 5 star read!
I just reviewed Night Shift by Annie Crown. #NightShiftBook #NetGalley

This was almost perfect. It’s a great new adult kind of read with the college age and setting. I found the FMC to also be very likeable! Kendall works the Friday night shift at her college library and has a steamy encounter amongst the shelves with Vincent - a hot basketball player. It’s way out of character for her and she fumbles her way along getting to know him and finding her feet with real life romance.
There is a lot to love about this. It’s very astute - the way it references romance writing whilst being a romance novel. I loved how self aware it was, and the attempts to ground it in a bit more reality! The structure was also surprising, in way of bucking romance trends - the fact that the grand gesture doesn’t come right at the end! Instead we have a grand gesture then get a bit time seeing these characters afterwards which is pretty refreshing. I also loved the idea that Kendall and Vincent are similar - rather than the opposites attract vibe, they are both awkward and not smooth when it comes to sex and romance. It’s sweet seeing them try to figure it out together. The only reason I’m not giving this 5 stars is because at some points it felt a bit one step forward and two steps back in terms of the relationship.
What to expect:
- college romance
- student librarian and basketball captain
- tall FMC
- meet cute
- quite spicy

I really enjoyed this book! it was super cute and sweet! Their banter was so amazing and the chemistry and spice was... AMAZING honestly!
I love a good, easy read, you know, one that you can binge in a night and just have you giggling and kicking their feet all the time! LOVED! Cant wait to see what else Annie does :)

Spice Level: Medium
Trope: Insta Love
Synopsis:
Kendall is a college student who is an avid reader of spicy romance novels. She encounters a basketball player named Vincent while working her usual shift at the library. He happens to be the captain of the basketball team. Vincent needs her assistance to find some books to help with his poetry assignment. Let’s say that her love for romance novels might be outmatched as sparks fly between them. Now, that’s not to say it will be a quick love match though.
My Thoughts:
This book was such a cute and spicy read. I liked how Vincent challenges Kendall’s view of herself. Her attraction to him gets her to step out of her fantasy world and see what a real man can offer her. She challenges Vincent as well. I liked the sisterhood between Kendall and her roommates. I hope there will be more books about how their stories go. I don’t want to add too much more as I would spoil some great moments in their story. Overall, Kendall and Vincent’s love story made me smile and the spice level was great too.
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Love Always, Catherine

Really cute read - super light and quick.
I do wish there was more character development, especially in the beginning - the book leaped right into action and while I liked that the opening didn’t take forever set up, I wish there was a little more before things really were set in motion.
I did enjoy the ending from the reconciliation through to the final chapter, but I wish there was a little more to the end to wrap things up!
Would like a sequel or spin-off of this!
