⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"The Gift of Sensitivity" by Elena V. Amber is a transformative exploration of the power of emotional engagement in both life and work. In this enlightening book, Amber beautifully demonstrates that sensitivity is not a weakness but a superpower waiting to be embraced.

From the moment I started reading, I was captivated by Amber's insights and wisdom. Her deep understanding of human experience and psychology, combined with her international business experience and profound meditation practice, provides a rich tapestry of knowledge that is both enlightening and empowering.

What kept me up at night was the profound realization that sensitivity is indeed a gift—one that holds the key to unlocking our most extraordinary and profound faculties. Through embracing sensitivity, we can tap into our creativity, originality, intuition, and inclusiveness in ways we never thought possible.

Overall, "The Gift of Sensitivity" is a must-read for anyone seeking to harness the full potential of their emotions and unlock their true power. I am deeply grateful for the insights and inspiration this book has provided, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I really enjoyed the book and found the information very interesting and informative. I really liked the writing style of the book and the way the information was organized throughout the chapters as well.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the information about highly sensitive people to be fascinating and relatable. As a therapist, and highly sensitive individual myself, I found a lot of really great information in this book. I feel that it's a great resource for any clinician helping other empaths or sensitive clients in general. I also feel like the book offers so much insight into what means to be a highly sensitive individual and the benefits and drawbacks of this character trait. This book really gave me a lot of insight into myself. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.🌟🌟🌟🌟

I DNFd this at 45%. While I was able to get into the flow of writing once I adjusted my exceptions like everyone else (I think most of us thought this was self-help, but it was more of a memoir and the author did a lot of tying in her life into the points she was making), I found this to be a bit trauma dump-y and heavy for heavy's sake at some points. I also struggle with feeling like that is unfair to say because it's the author's life and the author's story, but it just wasn't what I was expecting.

I am someone who identifies as being sensitive and I often tell others being sensitive is a great thing to be, but I would have loved this a lot more if the author had inserted a bit less of herself into the story because the parts where she drives her points home really shone.

Thank you to Practical Inspiration Publishing and NetGalley for providing an ARC.

I really struggled with this book as I was expecting it to be a self-help guidebook based on the description but found it be more of a flowy prose style memoir. While the author does include some research to back up her thesis, the majority of the book focuses on her personal story and how she found her sensitivity to be a strength rather than teaching others to do the same. I was able to find some relatable pieces of the story that offered me another viewpoint and how to see certain situations but for the most part, I found myself struggling to read each page.

I think for anyone interested in the topic and learning more about HSP and using their own sensitivity as a strength, this book could be a good starting point but it doesn't offer enough research and teachings for it to be more than just that... the starting point.

As a memoir, I would rate this book higher but given the description leans self-help and I was not the only one that was under that assumption before reading, I would have to say 2.5 stars.

Like a lot of others have said, I went into this expecting it to be sort of self-help. But it was really more of a memoir - and once I adjusted my expectations I enjoyed the intimacy of the story and prose. It definitely had some thought provoking moments and phrases.

At first, I thought this was going to be a self-help book, but it is not. It reads like a diary, like prose, like a memoir of sorts. It was a lovely read though!

Seeing the blurb & the cover, I was expecting a psychology/self-help nonfiction that explores sensitivity. Though, upon reading, this reads more as diary-like entries of memoir rather than self help. This, doesn't give that feeling of a book written with research put into it: again it felt more like an ordinary sharing of insights, based on author's experiences. Which is appreciated still, but I was going in with a headspace expecting something more. Good starter for beginner, fiction readers who want to tread into the territory of non-fiction water. But not the best for someone who's specifically interested in the topic & have known it well, thinking & hoping to get more juice on it: it didn't add many new things to the discussion about sensitivity & HSPs.

Thank you NetGalley & publisher for lending me the eARC of this book in exchange for this honest review

Not a typical self-help book. Instead, it's written as dream-like flowy prose, the autobiography of a mind thinking about sensitivity. I appreciated the contrast of dreams vs. an unhappy reality, and the potential portal dreaminess could provide. That sensitivity is nothing to be ashamed of. Made me feel better about being a softie!

I've read a lot of books about sensitivity. Unfortunately this one didn't convince me. So I haven't read the whole book. I crossread it but it didn't change. It's a good approach though, but not my style, sorry. Thank you anyway.

"The Gift of Sensitivity" is a fantastic book with lessons that can carry over to both personal and professional situations. I appreciated that sensitivity is approached as a strength and not such a weakness. We tend to overuse terms like sensitivity in a derogatory sense but The Gift of Sensitivity focuses on how we can harness it to our own potential.

A great read for those looking to get more in touch with the softer side of their emotions!

The author skillfully weaves a narrative that captures the essence of navigating life as a highly sensitive person, offering practical advice and relatable experiences. The book's refreshing take on the subject makes it an insightful-read for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of sensitivity and personal growth.

It does read more biographical than self-help and the language at times felt a bit awkward.

I was really interested in this book as a sensitive person myself, I used to see sensitivity more as a curse than a gift to be honest. That's why this book drew my attention: why would it be a gift, a superpower even?! I couldn't realize it so I started the book. It totally changed my mind and I enjoyed reading this :)
