This was an adorable and fun rom-com. I loved all of the Gilmore Girl references. I was instantly pulled in. This is a closed-door, slow-burn romance but packed full of mutual pining and tension. (He does not know, and neither does she). Carter and Lana are so hopelessly in love with each other and I kept waiting for their love confession.
Carter is such a great guy and I loved his devotion to Lana and her adorable daughter, Allegra. Ten years worth!!!! He is top-tier when it comes to cinnamon roll heroes.
This has taken the top spot in my list of friends-to-lovers, fake relationship books. This was such a heartwarming, cute, and swoony rom-com. I adored the friendship, family dynamics, and all the longing and sparks between Carter and Lana.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I listened to the audiobook. The narrators captured all the feelings between the two, including all the adorable and laughable moments.

This book was too cute! I read it as a standalone (haven't as of yet read the others in the series) and while I'm certain there are cameo appearances from the first book, I don't feel like I missed out on anything in order to enjoy this listen.
Lana Mae and Carter have been friends since she showed up on his doorstep looking for her boyfriend/his roommate. That night wasn't ideal but their friendship made the heartache worth it. Now, she's a single mom and he's a famous actor but their relationship has remained. Unfortunately, Carter is not looking so great in the tabloids and running back to Atlanta to prep Lana Mae for his fake engagement news turns out to put them in an unexpected and sticky situation.
I loved the narrators, Avery Caris & Chris Ruen, and would happily listen to them team up again. They personified Carter and Lana Mae together in an adorable performance.
Thank you to Dreamscape and Netgalley for the alc. All thoughts are my own.

Lana-Mae and Carter have been best friends for years and this book is a very slow burn take on friends to lovers. It is a clean romance but it still builds tension and sweet moments throughout the book. I listened to the audiobook and the narration, especially from a dual perspective with two narrators, was perfect. Having Allegra (oddly named child) added to the sweetness of the book. I didn’t read the other book in the series before reading this, but I already added it to my TBR! While this is very much fits into the friends to lovers and celebrity-normal person tropes, it’s a sweet read that isn’t too cheesy and is just relaxing and enjoyable to read. 3.75⭐️, 1🌶

For anyone who is a fan of the friends to more trope, make sure to pick up this book.
I absolutely loved Carter in this story. As I listened to the audiobook of this romcom, I was cheering for Carter and Lana Mae from the moment they had their meet cute. Carter is the best of men and legit Lana Mae’s best friend. I loved the bond he had with not only Lana Mae but Legs too. If you like cinnamon roll heroes, he had this giant heart that made me want to hug his character many MANY times.
Read this book if you enjoy:
*Friends to more romance
*Celebrity romance
*Single parent trope (and a precocious little girl that will steal your heart)
*Fake engagement
*Some semi-forced close proximity
*Relatable characters who deal with anxiety and self-doubt
*Supportive siblings/found family
*Sweet closed-door chemistry
I received an advance listening copy of this book from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I liked both narrators and found the dual POV and way the two represented Carter and Lana Mae to really bring them to life and connect them for me. It was an enjoyable read/listen and I recommend it.
Content: closed door romance with some mild innuendo and mild language throughout.

This was such a sweet and fun story! I loved their relationship and his protectiveness over Lana and Legs! So many sweet moments! Carter is the best!!

I loved this childhood friends-to-lovers romance. They met when they were so young and helped each other get through a lot of difficult things in their lives. They were always there for each other and it was obvious that they had chemistry from the start.
It made me so happy to see how involved Carter was in Lana and Allegra's lives. No matter how famous he got, he was there for them like he always knew that's where he would end up. This book gave me all the butterflies. It was filled with so many sweet moments and it made me so happy to see them finally get their happily ever after.

I liked the book. I thought it was light and fun.
I am not a huge fan of friends (for a very long time) to lovers. I feel like things could be moved along a lot faster if they would have just talked about how they felt. But besides l
That I loved the book. I like when a regular person gets together with a celebrity- it’s fun and I also love fake engagements.
The characters were sweet especially the daughter.
I was able to listen to this book on audio and it was wonderful. It had both a male and female narrator (which I LOVE). They both did a great job. I do listen to my books at 2x speed though….

This is the second book in the Donovan Family series but can easily be read as a standalone.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for my #gifted ALC. This is a dual narration and dual POV story. I think these are both new to me narrators and they both did a great job of adding to the characters' personalities.
Carter and Lana Mae met when they were 18 and 17. Lana was in a relationship at the time and soon found out she was pregnant. Carter has been her support and best friend in their nine years of friendship. They both think the other isn't interested. Present day, Carter is now a famous actor and they become fake engaged to help Carter through a scandal. But the more time they spend together, the more they don't want it to end.
This is such a sweet story! I loved their friendship, chemistry, and how fiercely they protected the other. There is really fun banter, I laughed so much throughout this story, and there were quite a few sweet moments. Carter Callahan was a very swoony male lead!

Book 2 in the Donovan Family series. Works as a stand alone.
Carter and Lana met when they were eighteen and seventeen. Lana was in a relationship, but thought Carter was cute. Carter practically fell in love. Despite Lana's relationship ending nearly immediately after, they stayed both friends. They were both attracted to each other, but thought the other wasn't.
They were also afraid of ruining their friendship. Then they become fake engaged to help Carter through a scandal. And the more time they spend together, the more they don't want it to end.
I really enjoyed this one. I liked both Lana and Carter, and loved Legs. Their connection felt genuine. Though I do wish they had opened up sooner.
My complaint is Legs. (Lana's daughter, Allegra) She is supposed to be nine, but acts more like five/six most of the time. This is a pet peeve of mine in books. I happen to have two nieces- ages five and nine. I assure you, even some of Legs's actions and phrases were immature for even a five year old. (I also am a former elementary teacher.)
This book is a dual POV. The audiobook is narrated by Avery Caris and Chris Ruen.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Best friends to lovers with a fake dating trope? Yes, please!
Carter is a hunky {yep, I said it!} movie star and Lana Mae is his best friend. When they both need to have a reason for a significant other, they make a deal to get "engaged"
Such a cute, fun story that you should definitely read it!

This was a GREAT story to listen to! AWESOME narration! Great main characters. The plot was easy to find. The story was engaging and easy to follow. Will be purchasing this book. Shout out to Netgalley and publishing for allowing me to listen and review this story.
4 STARS!

Absolutely loved this story. Really loved reading about Lana Mae’s story, and I’m pretty sure Carter is nearly the perfect man. “So that happened” was one of my favorite reads last year as well. I’m hoping we get more books in the Donovan world soon! Would totally recommend this book if you’re wanting a sweet, clean, hallmark-esque romance.

Well wasn't that just the sweetest story!
I THINK HE KNOWS is chock full of sweetness, friendship and chemistry. There were so many times I laughed out loud or swooned over Lana and Carter's relationship! This is Book 2 of the Donovan Family series and you better believe I'm hunting down Book 1 now
I loved the narrators, they really brought the characters to life without over performing.

Thank you to netgalley for a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute best friends to lovers romcom story. I liked Lana being a single mom and how Carter interacted with "Legs". I think the book felt a little flat to me, I feel like the conflict was not really a conflict and they got over it so easily. I also was expecting spice but there was not any, this is a closed door romance.

Gah! This story! I absolutely love these tropes! Second chances of a sort. Famous person. Small town. The audiobook was perfectly done! Each one brought these people to life! The story is so sweet and sizzles without the open door content! I loved everything about this!!

Blurb:
I fell in love with Carter James Callahan’s smart-mouthed smirk long before it was labeled “The Sexiest Smile in Hollywood.” I also fell for his broad, muscular shoulders, his impossibly blue eyes, his… Nope! Not going there anymore.
Because while Carter may frequent my dreams every night, I will only ever frequent his friend zone, which is why I’m on an official mission to rid myself of my pesky feelings for him. I’m gonna put myself out there, start dating, and stop hopelessly crushing on my best friend.
Deep down, I know this is for the best. It would never work between us: I’m a single mom with an impressive collection of stained sweatpants; he’s a serial-dating celeb heartthrob who never wants to be tied down to anything or anyone.
So when the media breaks a story that Carter is getting married, nobody is more shocked than I am.
Especially when I click on the article and see that his mysterious fiancée is… me?!
Review: So thankful for the opportunity to listen to another book by Katie Bailey. It was so easy to fall for Lana Mae and Carter. This book is funny and full of love and passion. I found myself laughing out loud particularly due to the witty daughter. I also really enjoyed the narration. It really added to the story. Overall, if you want a funny romcom check this one out I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this ALC for my honest review.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the review copy of this audiobook.
This one had so many tropes all wrapped into one lovely, sweet and innocent love story. Celebrity, friends to lovers, single mom, fake engagement. It's all here. This is book 2 in the Donovan Family series and can be read as a standalone. However, Book 1 is just as good. And the narrators do great!
I would definitely recommend this one for those looking for a sweet romance. Also.... #teamjess #iykyk

This was a quick and light story.
It was an average read, but I was missing something. This was a SLOOOOOOOOOW burn and there didn't seem to be a lot happening throughout. I was hoping for more relationship development, funny situations, or romance.
However, what we did see was lovely and I had a good time reading it.

This was a really sweet friends to lovers, single mom, fake relationship, celebrity, closed door romance. I liked Legs a lot in the first book, so I was excited to hear about her story. I liked Lana and Carter together, and I liked how easy this book shows love can be. Quick, easy, mindless, but enjoyable read.
I listened to this book, and it was good! Avery Caris and Chris Ruen did well portraying these characters. Overall, i just don’t think there was a ton of character depth to begin with, but they put on a good performance!

This is book 2 in the Donovan Family series, but it could definitely be read as a stand alone if you haven’t read So That Happened yet. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first book! I thought the prologue was a great intro into the book because it really gave Carter a personality beyond being just some celebrity. I loved all of the different characters in the book — especially Anthony. This is the perfect mix of cute, funny, and romantic.
