Another great entry in the Lewis Cole series, it had everything that I enjoyed from other books in the series. Brendan DuBois has a great writing style for the genre and as a series writer. The characters worked well overall and I was invested in the thriller.

Everyone thought he was just an old man with his own view of history, but someone believed him enough to kill him. Lewis Cole's friend Jon has been looking for proof of his claim that the Vikings landed in New Hampshire long before the Pilgrims but no one really takes him serious, until he calls Lewis and says he has the proof. Now he's dead and Lewis will not rest until he finds the killer.
This is book #5 in the Lewis Cole series. Lewis is a retiree with several friends who all play their part in solving crimes. The cast is an excellent cross of professionals and amatuers who pull together to keep their small New Hamshire town safe and relatively crime free. Their stories work well to solve the mysteries while still providing some real pictures of how this group of semi retired but stubborn crew refuse to give up or give in. If you love the RED or EXPENDABLES movies, this series is for you.

I liked this book but I just couldn't get into the story. I didn't like the writing style but overall the story was good.

I'm a fan of Brendan DuBois's Lewis Cole series, but BURIED DREAMS was a bit of a stumble. The beginning was difficult to get through, written in a series of present moments and flashbacks, and the stakes and motivations of the characters were often questionable. When the story finally reached the climax, multiple moments in the ending felt like deus ex machina (even though Lewis didn't even solve the mystery). Still, Lewis is a likable character, as is Felix, and they carried the book enough to get me to the next one.

Buried Dreams is another book in the Lewis Cole series that is wonderfully entertaining. Lewis has a quirky, fun mystery solving technique that can often be quite unorthodox but is very effective at uncovering the solution. A quick, delightful read!

Fans of Lewis Cole are in for another treat as Tyler, New Hampshire’s columnist, who does very little writing, is off on another adventure. His past remains rather unclear, and his relationship with his usual sidekicks continues to be unusual. But his determination to find out what happened to his friend once again reveals his dogged determination. Watch out, bad guys.
