This would be a wonderful classroom read a loud! Especially when looking at seeds and also when discussing how long it takes to get older and grow.

Avocado Magic by Taltal Levi is an adorable book! In this world of instant gratification, a young girl grows impatient as she waits for her avocado seed to grow. However, as it begins to sprout, disappointment and urgency turns into wonder and excitement.

The illustrations in this book are truly divine! I can't wait for this book to hit the shelves so I can share this story with my students. The captivating pictures and life lesson about growing and waiting with grace is something we can all reflect on!

I absolutely adored this book! I don't know if I've ever been this affected by a picture book before. It had such a powerful message about growing up and having patience. The recurring line about magic being slow and taking time to watch it grow was genuinely so beautiful, and the warm colors of the illustrations were the perfect compliment. The story came full circle in a way that gave me goosebumps. I highly, highly recommend this book!

I adored this book. The illustrations are very lovely and it’s very pleasing to the eyes. This will be a book that my daughter will enjoy for sure once she’s of that reading age. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book in advance!

This picture book has lovely illustrations with soft colors, and it has a nice message about being patient. Throughout the story, you see the little girl struggle with impatience as she waits to get older and waits for her avocado plant to develop, and then you see some of the changes that happen over many years. At the end, the little girl is now an adult with her own family, sharing the same avocado plant with her daughter. This book will have the greatest appeal for adults, since they can relate to the many life stages the character goes through, but it's a sweet, beautifully illustrated book for all ages.

I didn't know what to expect from this picture book. But I do know that I wanted something a little humorous and entertaining. Avocado Magic was none of those things.

Though I loved the colorful illustrations, I didn't quite like the narrative. It was a little boring for me. However, I did like the part about growing an avocado tree from seed. That was very educational and informative.

I get that the book provides a lesson in patience, but I feel that a more humorous angle would have been a better approach to capture a pre-schooler's attention. Two okay stars.

I received a DRC from NorthSouth Books through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

I am always so impressed by the children's books I get to read through NetGalley. When I was younger, there were never this many stories about loving yourself and taking care of yourself from childhood. Watching Ellie grow through the story but continuing to take the magic and love for herself and others that her and her father gave to the avocado seed was magic. I got full-body chills at the end with her family and seeing her continue the cycle of love, growth, and patience to her own child. Such a sweet, kind message paired with gorgeous illustrations.

This book is about a young girl and her father's love. It is all about patience and how if you wait and believe good things will come. I love this story and would give it a graduation gift. The illustrations are as beautiful as the story.

So sweet! I love stories about growing up alongside plants. I liked how the tree came with the girl throughout her life and we got to see them both grow.

A dad shows his daughter the magic of growing is not something we see in a day, but it takes time to see the magic. As the avocado grows, so does Ellie. Beautiful illustrations show how both girl and plant grow to become adults over time. When it’s time for Ellie to pack up and start her own adventure, she takes her avocado plant along with her. At the end of the story, the author shows the reader how to grow their own avocado plant! VERDICT: A heart-warming story about the magic of growing up with a beautiful visual of both plant and girl becoming adults over time.

This was a wonderful way to explain growing up to young children. I loved the "Sprout your own avocado" instructions at the end of the book. The illustrations were gorgeous and I loved the final scene.

Loved this book teaching kids about growing and being patient. The metaphor was done really well and I loved that it can teach kids not only about gardening but also about giving yourself time to grow and change. The illustration were beautiful as well. It was simple but had deep meaning. I would absolutely get this for my son.

Ebook received for free through NetGalley

I finally got a chance to read this book to my elementary aged kids and they both thought it was the best story ever. It was beautifully written, elegantly drawn, and overall a great read. I could see finding minor things in the photos each time you read it. Loved it.

My 15 month old got a kick out of this book’s pictures and my 4 year old is super excited to read this book and add it to his library. I especially loved that the author included directions to grown an avocado at the end of the story and I already know that we will be heading to the store to buy an avocado just so that we can try to do exactly that once my 4 year old catches wind of this fancy idea.

“You, Ellie, are like an avocado seed: small but full of magic.”

Avocado Magic is about a little girl named Ellie who is frustrated that she isn’t growing up fast enough. Her dad teaches her the magic of patience by giving her an avocado seed to care for. As the avocado seed magically grows and grows into a giant flourishing avocado tree, we see Ellie change and grow up as she patiently nurtures it.

Avocado Magic is a wholesome read with absolutely beautiful illustrations. The story also includes directions on how you can grow avocados just like Ellie did.

Thanks again NorthSouth Books and NetGalley for the eARC to read in exchange for an honest review!

A beautifully illustrated picture book reminiscent of "Love You Forever," about a parent sharing the magic of an avocado plant with his daughter Ellie, who cares for the avocado pit until it grows into a tree that accompanies her own growing family. It has some lovely rhymes and is a quick read.

Avocado Magic by Taltal Levi is an adorable story about a girl named Ellie, who is in a rush to grow up. Her father tells her she is just like an avocado seed, small but full of magic. As Ellie grows, so does the avocado seed and she is able to bring the eventual tree with her through her life changes.

A sweet book for kids and a great component of how to grow an avocado tree. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book!

Very cute children’s story with repetition and rhyming. Simple lesson many people will relate to. I recommend for ages prek/ kindergarten. Illustrations were lovely.

I was expecting something sweet but simple. This was so much more than that. It was surprisingly deep for being a children's book about a tree. The illustrations were sweet and the story was something that could easily become a tradition. In fact, I am sad I didn't think of this before my kids were grown. I don't consider myself a sentimental person, but this book had me tearing up.
