Super cute story about taking your time to grow! I read this one with my preschooler twice, and - because of how so many little kid books are written - he was initially expecting the avocado to be the main character. Our main character is actually a girl whose dad helps her plant an avocado seed. Eventually, her plant grows alongside her, and she even takes it with her when she moves out of her parents' house. Lush illustrations and a sweet little story.

Gorgeous illustrations, simple yet beautiful story about growth and growing up. Absolutely a picture book I want to share with my little one!

This was a lovely story about how people grow up, just as plants grow up. And though it seems like it will take forever for the avocado seed to grow, it does. The illustrations show the incremental growth of the girl and her seed. The writing is poetic, and the illustrations appear to be watercolor, and are layered in shades of green.

I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to more by this author.

This book may have some of the most beautiful art I've ever seen in a children's book! I was so entranced by the illustrations, and they added so much heart to a lovely story! Avocado Magic is such a sweet tale about the magic of growing up — I loved it and feel like the story will stay with me for a long time.

Avocado Magic is a very sweet picture book about family, growing up, and tradition.

When Ellie is little and impatient about growing up, he dad helps her plant an avocado seed and explains all the ways that she is like the little seed; they both need love, care, and lots of time and patience. Soon Ellie is getting older and growing up right along side her avocado tree and when the time comes, she begins teaching her new baby all the ways that he is like that avocado tree as well.

This is a charming, quick little story with beautiful, colorful pictures. Highly recommend for ages 3+.

A story about patience the magic within us and believing that it's there even when we cannot see it. Beautiful illustrations fill this book with the story of Ellie as she grows up.

Ellie is 5 years old and she is waiting to grow. Her feet can't reach the ground. When she asks her dad when will she grow, her father pointed her to the avocado tree. She planted her seed and it did not grow as fast as she thought it should, her father reminded her that patience is wisdom and change can be slow.

Once Ellie saw growth beginning in her avocado she was encouraged about the change that was taking back. It can be difficult to wait, Ellie's story helps young readers about the wisdom of patience.

A special thank you to NorthSouth Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This story feels like a warm hug.

Avocado Magic is about love, family, growing up and finding your path. The art style is stunning, the colors are beautiful an helped me feel like I was being transported inside the story. Even though it's short, it leaves a clear message of love and hope.

Take this from a family of avocado lovers: if you have kids, get them this book and read it together. It is beautiful. It is so beautiful. The drawings are pure art and the story is sweet and beautiful, and it is also deeply meaningful. But even if a child is too young to grasp the deeper meaning yet (which most kids are), the story is still super beautiful.
Also, avocados.

Avocado Magic by Taltal Levi is a really fun children’s book with beautiful illustrations and a great story about the magic of growing up. It’s easy to understand and follow along for younger kids and even has Sprout Your Own Avocado instructions at the end, which we’ll definitely be trying out once our Bebe is a little bit older.

Sometimes all it takes is just a little patience and something magical can happen. When a little girl gets an avocado seed she learns about patience and wonder as she watches it grow. This was such a sweet story about the wonders of plants and the joy of seeing a plant you grow yourself get bigger and bigger. Since this is inspired by the artist's own childhood, this was even cuter. The artwork was adorable and I think this would be a great read for young readers!

*Thanks Netgalley and NorthSouth Books Inc., NorthSouth Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

This is a very sweet children's book. It's a sweet story about growing up, family, and patience. The art work is beautiful and rich in colour. I love the avocado being referenced and how it shows kids how to care for plants and themselves. Great touch to include how to make your own avocado magic at the end of the book. A wonderful simple story for kids to get excited about nature. I now even want to grow a little avocado plant!

I received an electronic ARC from NorthSouth Books Inc. through NetGalley.
Beautifully written story of a child who is impatient to grow. Her wise father compares growth to an avocado seed and sets one to sprout and grow. By watching this seed, Ellie learns patience and to watch for small signs of change. Readers watch as the child and the seed grow together. The tree is transplanted just as Ellie grows and changes too. Love the ending when the cycle begins again. The artwork is lovely and captures the joy and love in this family. Levi includes directions to sprout your own seed at the end.

This is SUCH a great read for kids who are impatient. It teaches them to understand that sometimes, great things take time! We just have to sit back and let it happen and do whatever we can to help the process along. And I love that it ALSO teaches readers all about taking care of plants and how an avocado grows! It's such a great addition.

Amazing Avocado vibes illustrations, avocado goodness and a lot of avocado patience!

This book is about teaching kids the importance of patience and how to plant an avocado. Yes, kids and adults are impatient for everything. The father in the story does a good job in handling this issue.

Yes, it’s time to know more about nature and its course.

Love the idea. Love the lessons.

I was looking for some new picture books to read with my son. He's 3, so on the young side for this book, but he still really enjoyed it!

Avocado Magic follows Ellie, who is disappointed to find that upon waking up the day after her birthday, she still hadn't grown any taller. Her father then uses an avocado seed to teach her about patience, and that wonderful things can grow from a small seed.

We loved the illustrations, my son especially liked the full page spread at the beginning where Ellie is talking to her friends and there is an explosion of different things coming out of the avocado seed. He really enjoyed pointing out everything he could see.

I liked the repetition of the phrase "the magic always moves and always flows; it's hard to see, and rather slow. We need to wait and let it grow." This is something that I could see him being able to recite back if I were to read this to him many times, something that is helpful for children learning to read.

We also LOVED the instruction pages at the back on how to sprout your own avocado! We've been very into gardening lately and are now considering trying to grow our own avocado tree.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Saying that I live for books like this one won't be wrong.
It's such a fun perspective on growing and waiting for that growth. Certain things in l8fe cannot be rushed and Teh Avocado Magic, with it's beautiful and colourful illustrations, describes it well.

Would 100% recommend this to young parents and librarians 🤍
