I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Having watched these two on Tik Tok I am thrilled that they got a book deal. Fun to watch them online and in this book.

’ve been following the CrunchBros for a while now on Instagram and had made some of their recipes already, all of them which were super easy to recreate and are absolutely delicious.

Their cookbook was a logical next step, and while I haven’t made any of the recipes in the book yet, I bookmarked every other page on the first pass through. I could have bookmarked every page, but I tried to stay clear of the recipes that were quite rich in mayonnaise, sugar, butter, or pork. The book itself is well done, good size, neatly designed, and presents the entirely family in a very adorable way.

Most featured dishes are non-vegetarian (I would think that many of them can easily be converted to a vegetarian dish) and hover right around 5-6 ingredients. I appreciate the glossary in the back with Japanese/Korean terms and ingredients. Speaking of: once you have the (limited number) of ingredients on hand you can whip up pretty much most if not all of the CrunchBros’ recipes.

This books is filled with easy to follow and engaging recipes that can be followed by kids and adults alike. It is a great intro into Korean and Japanese meals and treats. How sweet a cookbook! I think I liked the family aspect more than I liked the recipes and I LOVED the recipes! The recipes were so unique and not hard to make. I loved that they gave Asian spins on some common recipes. Their take on Mac and cheese blew my mind.

Every parent has the responsibility to teach their children skills, including cooking. Kids often love learning to cook, and it improves relationships. One of the most fun cookbooks out there is Cooking with the Crunch Bros: Casual and Fun Korean- and Japanese-Inspired Recipes from Our Kitchen to Yours by Jeff and Jordan Kim who are a father/son duo popular on social media. The unique thing about this excellent cookbook is that the recipes are Korean and Japanese, and they are mouthwatering. While most children’s cookbooks include easy American basics, this one includes easy recipes from a different world. The prose in the cookbook is fun to read, and there are explanations and comments at the beginning of each recipe that are helpful. The recipes are mostly simple and quick, so kids won’t get bored making them. However, these recipes are a good primer for adults who may want to hone their Asian cooking skills. The recipes are very appealing, with the fun aspect of involving the whole family in the preparation.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed on one side of each page and the step-by-step instructions on the other.

While there are many professional, beautiful photographs, all of the recipes aren’t pictured, which is a slight drawback. However, that’s not a reason to avoid this cookbook. Most readers will welcome the yummy recipes whether pictured or not, and want to make lots of them.

All told, this is an excellent cookbook and makes a great addition to every household cookbook collection.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I've never seen their channel before, but I will definitely be checking it out after reading this book. The recipes look delicious and easy enough to follow. I can't wait to make some of these.

I was unaware of the author's YouTube page, so I went into this cookbook without prior knowledge.
The recipes are easy to follow and, I feel, to recreate. The authors talk you through creating these yummy-looking meals, sides, and snacks. There are meals that are very American with an Asian flair for those wanting to ease into the cuisine.
The book also includes a helpful glossary of Korean and Japanese foods.
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to try some if the recipes.

I was familiar with CrunchBros since I have seen him many times on social media. Little did I know he and his family published a book! Cooking with the CrunchBros has lots of easy, fun, approachable recipes you can whip up on any weekdays with the exception of a few ingredients you will have to get from Asian market or online, but overall this book really offers very easy & fun (your little ones can make them, too!) recipes. Most of recipes have a photograph, only a handful of recipes have more than a dozen ingredients (even then they are all pantry-ready), instructions are very straight-forward, and it's a good mix of Korean and Japanese. What really sets this cookbook unique from other books is quirky fusion recipes such as Kimchi Pico de Gallo, Kimchi Guac, Miso Mayo Dip, and Macbokki. I own quite a bit of Korean-American or Korean cookbooks, but have never seen any recipes like these and these recipes are not difficult or fussy! I can't wait to make them and enjoy with my family. If you're looking for easy fusion food, please give this cookbook a try. Highly recommend!!!

A lovely family cookbook book with authentic Korean dishes. I have two boys with ASD and they are very picky with what they eat but love Korean/Japanese dishes. We had a look through together and bookmarked what they would like to try- Miso corn, ramen salad, easy salmon rice and many more dishes.

I love how vibrant the book is especially with all the family pictures. The steps are very clear and easy to follow which will also allow my boys to try out some of the recipes on their own.

Such a lovely family cookbook!

Thank you for allowing me to review this advanced copy of this book! I have always wanted to try making some authentic Korean dishes, and this book will help me to achieve that. Since glimpsing through this cookbook, I have found quite a few recipes that I can't wait to make and taste, though they all look mouthwateringly good! They're such a cute family as well, I was entertained just by their family pictures of the children enjoying the good food and preparing the ingredients. I've never watched the CrunchBros videos before, but after reading through the cookbook, I will definitely check their Youtube page out now! If you want authentic Korean/Japanese style recipes, this cookbook is for you, I highly recommend it!

I received an ebook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I really like watching the CrunchBros on TikTok! They are fun, cute, and their recipes are a nice mix of Korean and Japanese cuisines. I like how they've made the recipes easy to follow and accessible to readers who may be unfamiliar with Korean or Japanese cuisine and the ingredients needed to make some of the dishes. I was also happy to see Jordan's favourites included- it shows kids that their opinions do count in the kitchen, and may inspire other children to get interested in cooking!

Lots of nice colour photos of the dishes makes this book even more wonderful. Definitely worth it, if you're looking to branch out to other cuisines than your own!

Fun Asian cookbook with gorgeous pictures and great recipes! I love asian pasta recipes... raised in Italian culture I appreciate pairing asian flavors with a traditional italian pasta dish. The Wafu-style bacon and mushroom pasta is insane!

This is a cute recipe book! Drawing inspiration from Korean and Japanese food - one from each parent - the book is broken up by where the food is inspired by. There's great photos of the food as well as a variety of recipes and helpful instructions. While the book has a bit of a for-kids-by-kids feel to it this book has recipes that everyone will enjoy. Overall a good find!

Easy-to-make Korean and Japanese recipes. These would be great introductions to cooking with kids. A handy glossary at the back explains unfamiliar ingredients.

I liked this cookbook, which has a mix of Korean and Japanese recipes that complement each other. I appreciate that the measurements are also given in grams and mls. The recipes and ingredients are straightforward and easy to follow. I also like that they are pictures accompanying most of the recipes. One thing that is missing is the desserts section. I have a sweet tooth, so for me it was a little sad that there are only savory recipes.

Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press for the e-arc.
