This was such fun. Do you know what is so great about small towns? The dating pool is super small. Alex and Mia's first date was not ideal, and thanks to their location, they kept running into each other. There is no major plot. The story is about two people who should not be together, fighting their feelings and sneaking around, hoping not to get caught by Mia's father. Did we mention Alex was her dad's boss?

It creates great drama, banter, and the most amazing SLOW BURN. You get a sexy man with puppies and a hot tub hook-up.

i reallllly loved the dynamic between the two characters because it was so parallel to nick and jess from new girl (my all time favorite couple ever). they're total opposites who attract and benefit each other in different ways. i also appreciated how realistic and sort of normal these two characters were.

mia is a pre-school teacher who loves her job but can admit it's sort of, a little bit soul crushing (lol), she's close with her family to the point where it may come off a little co-dependent but it's just a base she's always known and doesn't know anything else and while simultaneously kind of being co-dependent on her family she's desperate for freedom (mostly from her own mind like girl you're so real you're so me when i look at you it's like i'm looking at me actually).

on the other side, alex is so far removed (or so he thinks) from valuing other people's opinions, especially when it comes to opinions about him, that he's too dependent on himself. when he meets mia it's like he's (literally) opening up, and for lack of better terms (and to talk about one of my favorite cliche's) like these walls he's built down are slowly being dismantled by this colorful, chaotic teacher who is nothing like what he's used to.

loner boy x sociable girl is actually one of my fav microtropes fr idk i just love a (fictional) man who's kind of a loser (socially) you know what i mean? also they perfectly fit into the this is me trying bf x mirrorball gf which is very personal to me xo

the reason i didn't give it a full 5 stars is because i feel like the ending might've been a little too rushed and i felt like i was still missing so much. i would've liked to see an additional conversation between alex and richard, mia's dad, where they actually listen to each other. i would've liked to see what came of alex standing up to his cousin and maybe even a scene of him interacting with his aunt/uncle or just him coming to terms that he doesn't need to be grateful for them just doing the bare minimum (which we saw a little of, but i'm greedy).

other than those points, i loved loved this book!

thank you netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review :')

“Perfect isn’t real, but this is.

4.5 stars

A fun, sweet, sexy and swoony enemies-to-lovers romance, this book is funny and relatable, and so freaking cute. I loved these characters, and their story stole my heart. This is such a gorgeous read.

Mia and Alex match on a dating app, but their first date – though entertainingly awkward - does not go well. Things are even more awkward when they learn that Alex is the young, new, hot-shot boss that her father won’t stop complaining about. And things are even more awkward again when they are set up on a double-date by their respective best friends who are falling madly in love. They can’t get away from each other. But though they seem to have little in common and can’t stop bickering, lusty feelings are sparked.

"Her round eyes go wide for a few seconds before she plasters on a smile. “Mr. Conroy, was it?”
In an upsetting turn of events, the way Mia says Mr. Conroy has a filthy effect on me. Which means she needs to never say that again."

It's a great set up and a fun dynamic between these two, and over a series of awkward meet ups, snarky bickering and drunken nights out, feelings start to develop. And when they finally start to explore that chemistry, everything changes.

"For the life of me, I don’t understand why I’m preoccupied with her. It’s like having sex with her opened up a portal in my chest, and at random, when I’m brushing my teeth or leading a meeting, I’ll wonder where she is, what she’s up to, if she’s okay … Something either broke inside me or found redemption. I don’t know which one, but I would’ve handed her my soul on a platter if she’d asked for it."

I loved watching these two come together! The situations they are in are real and relatable, their changing feelings for each other feel natural, and the whole thing is just so real, without unnecessary angst and drama. They’re keeping it all a secret from the people in their lives, and given their circumstances I could completely understand that. And that just makes all the time they spend together even more intense as they unexpectedly start to fall for each other.

“I don’t want you to leave, you don’t want to go…Can we stop pretending this isn’t real?”

The banter is fantastic, the sweet moments are heart-clenching, and the sexy time is off-the-charts hot. Holy hell, these two are on fire together, and I could feel the intensity of their connection every time they are together.

"I wasn’t prepared for the exponential growth of my feelings today.
It’s not just sex; it’s being with Alex. It’s being held and handled by his capable hands, kissed by his confident mouth, lost in his eyes."

"He’s a goddamn revelation when he lets you get close, a Roman candle waiting to pop off and ignite the stars."

I felt so much for both of these characters. Again, both so relatable and likable. Mia is sweet and funny with a big heart, who cares so much about the people in her life. She’s got a fierce independent streak, but she wants her happily ever after, and I love watching her feelings towards Alex change as she keeps popping up in his life. And Alex is the most gorgeous hero. He’s had a devastatingly hard life, and his isolation and vulnerability really tore at my heartstrings. I wanted to hug him so bad, and loved watching him fall so hopelessly and helplessly in love for the first time.

“I’ve never been anything to anyone, let alone everything to someone.”

"I want more than anything for her to love me so much nothing else matters, the same way I love her."

I loved the early snark, I loved the slow thawing, and I love that they both eventually just throw their hearts open to each other and embrace everything that’s happening between them. It’s sweet and swoony (and did I mention sexy?!), and they are so freaking cute together! Of course they have a bit of drama to work through, but it makes sense to their situation, it’s short-lived, and even in their turmoil, they have nothing but love for each other. It’s just gorgeous!

“I’ve been yours for a long time. Whether we were ready or not.”
... “I’m ready now. I want everything with you.”

It’s a long book, and felt a bit slow in the beginning, but once the pace picks up and the romance really starts to kick in, I was fully on board and so invested in these two! I loved their journey, and finished this book in the early hours of the morning with a fluffy heart and a huge smile on my face.

I loved it! 4.5 stars.

After a disastrous first date, Mia and Alex are prepared to move on with their lives, never expecting to see each other again. But, as luck would have it, Alex turns out to be the fixer Mia’s dad’s company brought in to breathe new life into their Avondale branch. As if that wasn't enough of a coincidence, they wind up on a double date together set up by their best friends who have just started dating. Despite continuing to run into each other, the pair are dead set on not letting anything happen. But when sparks fly, something is bound to catch fire.

This was a fun, quick read with plenty of spice to get a smut addict like me through to the end. Mia and Alex are both interesting characters who are on vastly different paths in life, but that is also why they work so well together.

One of the biggest tropes that cause me angst and frustration (and not usually in a good way) is the miscommunication trope and it definitely pops up throughout various points of this story. That being said, I don’t think there is a way to tell this particular story without the miscommunication and Hart finds a way to make it funny instead of frustrating most of the time.

While there is quite the cast of supporting characters around Mia and Alex, no one felt like they were fully fleshed out, each being only one thing to either Mia or Alex. Even though it’s a love story between those two, it would have been nice to get a little more character depth in the supporting cast, especially considering how they were all so important to one character or the other.

The supporting characters may have been a bit lacking, but the spicy scenes definitely were not. Just like the act itself, Hart builds the tension beautifully before reaching the explosive climax. The chemistry between Mia and Alex is electric and though it takes them a bit of time to give in to it, it’s well worth the wait.

Oh, and despite some revelations that could have caused it, I am happy to report (for the sake of my bestie who absolutely hates it) that there is not a third act breakup, though there is an ambiguous separation that could possibly look like a breakup to the untrained eye.

Some Kind of Blunderful is sexy and sweet and fun! It’s enemies-to-lovers when a bad blind date reveals that he is her dad’s new boss (who he is not a fan of) AND new best friend’s new boyfriend’s best friend - meaning that no matter how hard they try, they can’t seem to avoid each other. Each run in is both fun and frustrating, because no matter how much they are determined to not be bothered by the other, they can’t quite get over it. And when they finally give in to their desires… *chef’s kiss*. My only complaint is that the resolution at the end feels too easy and neat.

First time reading a book by Livy Hart, and it certainly won't be my last! Her writing has an addicting edge that kept me glued to the story, desperate to devour the banter, the romance, the friendships, everything the story had to offer.

Despite a tough beginning after a blind date gone wrong, Mia and Alex were thriving whether they knew it or not. Each time they were in proximity of one another, it was like they lit up; they both would bring out the best in each other. The chemistry came alive through the pages; I couldn't get enough! Their dynamics were so believable and entertaining.

The romance was absolutely delicious! While we get a slow burn at the beginning, once that layer is gone, the spice appears and it's here to stay. I was impressed by Alex! His thoughtfulness added an extra ounce of hotness, especially that thot tub scene.

Friendship and family dynamics are ever-present in this story, something that I appreciate immensely. It was endearing to read about Mia's relationship with her father. She's a devoted daughter, sometimes at the expense of her own desires, but this is where a lot of growth happened for Mia. It was beautiful to see her navigate her feelings and familial relationships on her own.

Overall, Some Kind of Blunderful is an addicting, banter-filled, playful romance that will have its readers squealing and giggling!

Mia and Alex meet on a blind date, but before anything could happen, Mia realizes that Alex is her dads boss, the one her dad can’t stop complaining about. Mia knows dating Alex is a bad idea, but with their best friends dating they keep getting thrown together and controlling their attraction becomes impossible.
This was a very cute read. I enjoyed the push and pull between Mia and Alex, and their banter was hilarious.

Some Kind of Blunderful - Livy Hart

4.5/5⭐️

✨✨✨✨✨✨
The first thing I have to say is the way Livy can write such easy relatable characters was so nice to read. I love Mia and how she is as a teacher was just so cute! Mia is someone who loves her family hard and her friends just as much.

Mia has been taking on the dating apps after what happened. When she practically about to give up with them she finds her once again stood up and call her bestie. When trash talking her date on the phone in line, he shows. Mia had already decided by that point she did not like him. After the bad date she never expected to see him again. Life had other plans. In every way possible they constantly find themselves with each other again. She finds herself not knowing if she should hate him or love him.

This one is gonna be a blunder.

When I received this arc I was excited to read it because the author's previous books hooked me in but unfortunately I got into a book slump and could not get into it the way it deserves.

I might get back to it when the slump is gone away as the 7% I did get tovread was amazing.

All my apologies to the author.

After a decidedly not awesome first date, Mia and Alex never expect to see each other again, but it seems fate has other plans. Their best friends are dating each other, and Alex turns out to be Mia’s father’s new boss—the new boss who got the job her dad wanted.

The more the two are thrown together, the more their attraction grows until the two finally give in to their chemistry. And, oh boy, do they have sparks.

Nothing can come of this, right? Mia is reluctant to enter into a relationship and she definitely doesn’t want to start one with someone her father loathes and who has made a career out of not staying in one place for very long. Can they bring their secret relationship public? Can they make it last?

Buckle up for some delicious heat and some sweet reminders that the small, everyday, ordinary moments can be some kind of wonderful.

Some Kind of Blunderful was an opposites attract romance that was laugh out loud hilarious! With the most fabulous banter, this smile inducing book was so much fun! And I loved that the writing was seamless and so easy to devour. After finishing this book, I went and added Livy Hart's other books to my tbr. This book was easily my top favorite steamy romantic comedy for 2023!

Mia Madden was trying her best to get back into the dating world, after being left at the alter by her high school sweetheart. I was so happy she had her bestie Josie in her life, she had her back and was so positive. When Mia found herself going on a date with Alex, who she met through a dating app, she definitely needed her bestie's support. Mia's date with Alex was a horrific, awkward disaster. From their first few moments together, I couldn't help laughing out loud. They were the polar opposites from each other and were fumbling towards being the worst date ever. Yet after they parted ways, they would soon discover that wouldn't be the last time they saw each other. Not only were their best friends dating, but Alex was the new boss Josie's father loathed and ranted about. As the pages unfolded, we got to watch as they couldn't seem to escape from each other.

Alex had the cards stacked against him. Not only did he get the job Mia's dad wanted, but he came across as a shark. I wasn't sure I would like him, yet it wasn't long until I was proved wrong. As Alex blundered around Mia, Fancy Nancy disaster lol, I felt bad for him. Especially since he seemed so alone, except for his best friend Ezra. Since we also got this story from Alex's point of view, it was impossible not to fall in love with him. As we watched him spend more time around Mia, he couldn't seem to escape thoughts of her afterwards. And it wasn't that far into the story that I was already saying out loud oh my gosh I love him so much! Alex was thoughtful, kind, patient, protective and had a way with words that were sigh worthy. I loved that he knew what he wanted in life, but Mia definitely was struggling in that area.

Mia was so easy to adore and someone you would want to be friends with. I loved her oversharing. I absolutory loved her close knit family and the time she spent with her sisters! So as the story progressed, my heart felt for Mia. Disliking Alex was what she should do, in solidarity of her dad's feelings. Yet the more time she spent around the man, the more she saw into who he was. It was impossible for her not to having conflicted feelings when Alex was concerned. She saw a fun, caring side of Alex that others didn't. And she also couldn't ignore the sexual tension that was like electricity between the two of them.

This story had so many memorable scenes, and I fell in love with Mia and Alex each step of the way. One of the things I loved most about them was that they acted like adults and were able to realize the mistakes they made, and own up to them. Plus their banter was phenomenal! I couldn't stop smiling when they were together! So as their story went from sexual tension to more, their moments together were hot and so steamy! Yet, it was hard to not be nervous for them. What would happen when her dad found out that Mia wasn't feeling hate towards Alex anymore? Or that their relationship had moved to more? The only thing I'm going to say about this is that I loved seeing how Mia's family could struggle but still love each other at the end of the day. It was such a beautiful and healthy portrayal of families that made me so happy.

Some Kind of Blunderful brimmed with humor and romance! If you're looking for an adult romance story to read, definitely pick this one up! This story made me fall in love and cry twice. I closed this book with a smile on my face and I can't wait to see what Livy releases next!

Some Kind of Blunderful by @livyhartromance is a contender for my top contemporary romance of the year. The banter, the angst, and the I want you but I can’t have you tension is so 🥵. The writing is hilarious, the FMC is relatable/likable, and the hero is cinnamon role dream worthy (Dual POV🎉). Their best friends are also dating and can’t know about their disastrous blind date and or the fact that he is her dad’s new hated boss which makes for some fun acting on double dates.

You can Expect:
💙My Dad’s Boss/Forbidden Romance
💙Forced Proximity (repeatedly 😂)
💙Meet Disaster/Blind Date
💙Enemies to Lovers

SOME KIND OF BLUNDERFUL was absolutely WONDERFUL. 👏

Livy Hart delivered everything I could ever want in a Romantic Comedy in Some Kind of Blunderful. I've read all of her books so far and this one jumped to number one on the list. This book was a hilarious, spicy comedy of errors that had me laughing, crying, and laughing so hard I cried.

Our main characters, Mia and Alex, are a TOP-TIER romantic comedy couple. They have a rough start, but it results in the best banter, especially as they grow on one another throughout the book. I had so much fun guessing how these two would continue running into one another as the story went on.

The side characters were fabulous. The banter was amazing. The spice was spicingggg. Honestly, this book was just a whole vibe. I truly loved Some Kind of Blunderful and would definitely re-read it. Thank you to Entangled Publishing and Livy Hart for the e-ARC!

I loved this book.
This is such a fun low stakes romcom with characters that pull you in and make you invested in their journey. I loved the journey of their very awkward first date to falling in love and every encounter in between. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop!
Were there things in the book that I didn’t like? Sure, the ending felt a little rushed and the conflict towards the end of the book just worked itself out on its own. I also wanted to know what happened to Derek and how Richard was doing at work, but overall I really enjoyed this quick fun book!

Some Kind of Blunderful by Livy Hart was just what I needed at the moment and she managed to make this my favorite read by hers so far. I really enjoy Livy’s writing style, you can probably read all of her books in one sitting because of how hard you can fall into the story, but with this one I took my time since I was enjoying it so much and I didn’t want it to end.

At the beginning I had my doubts about where the main characters’ relationship was going since it didn’t start as the usual meet-cute. BUT turns out it was just the perfect thing for the two of them. I really liked getting to know both of them and reading their relationship developing into what came to be at the end.

I think that Livy found the perfect formula with this book. For me it had the perfect amount of smut and cute moments, while at the same time keeping me invested in the storyline and the characters’ actions.

The Meet-Cute of the year, I loved this book, it's cute, funny, snarky and steamy, what more could anyone want.

Mia and Alex have the absolute worst first date, I found myself cringing and thinking ohhh that's not good and then by the end, well it's just the perfect ending.

Witty and full of character this book will have you laughing and rooting for our characters, all of them. even when you know the odds are stacked against them.

Dating is hard enough but add in family drama, friends, and a whole slew of misunderstandings and you have an absolutely adorable read that will keep you reading way past your bedtime.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this E-Book, I have read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to Entangled for the free eARC.  This is my honest opinion.

Alex and Mia have an absolute disaster of a first date, total clash of personalities.  Then they just keep running into each other,  because he's the new boss of her dad, and the best friend of her best friend's new boyfriend.

This was an adorable fast-paced sweetly spicy new adult contemporary romance set in the deep south Georgia (state not country), and has all the honeyed southern charm one would expect.

4.5 out of 5 stars, and 3.5 out of 5 🌶 for the spice level.
