This is the perfect holiday romance - The spice in this is 🌶️🌶️ I found the characters to be relatable and lovable, and overall a really easy read!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Almost Perfect by E.F. Dodd.

If you want a Hallmark movie type storyline but with lots of smut, this book is for you. I was surprised at the amount of smut in this book, just wasn't prepared for that.

It is a good story of respecting your partner, making sure they are ok with the boundaries that were set...and testing the waters.

This was a fun read that feel short of the Christmasy marketing. V and Dave were great characters, but I am not a fan of insta-love and I felt we could have seen more relationship building. Although steamy scenes are always appreciated, I just wanted to fall in love with these characters and for them to resonate in some way. The novel was a entertaining and I will read more from this author.

I loved the dual pov and thought this was a quick, lighthearted read. The cover was a bit deceiving as I would not characterize this as a winter/holiday romance book. Overall I liked it. Thank you for the ARC.

I received an ARC on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I am. But delayed due to a family emergency but here we are!

This is a cute read and definitely very spicy, but it didn’t quite draw me in like I was hoping for.

A quick trip to Rochester, to support a friend was all Vivian ‘V’ had in mind. But when she unexpectedly meets Dave, she can’t deny their instant chemistry. With neither of them able to cut ties, they decide to give a relationship a go. Will they be able to survive long-distance, or will they ultimately end up heartbroken?

E. F. Dodd’s Almost Perfect is a realistic look at a new, long-distance relationship. Vivian and Dave are tasked with learning to navigate their new partner’s personality, job, and lifestyle, all while maintaining their own. Add in the pressure of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, it’s enough to break up the strongest of couples, let alone one without a solid foundation.

In a rare twist, it was fun to see Vivian, the female protagonist thriving in her career as a doctor while Dave, the male protagonist is still trying to figure things out while he tends bar. Their socioeconomic differences and families concerns over a viable future created major issues.

Overall, I found this to be a fine read. It was heavy on the spice and light on the Christmas vibes, which ultimately resulted in my lower rating. I did notice that it is apart of a series. While it worked as a standalone, I am sure reading the other books would have helped me connect more with the characters.

Special thanks to Netgalley, Sugar Beaver Books, and E. F. Dodd for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

A story of two people who were not looking for love. A bartender and a doctor. The doctor is there for her friend's engagement and is attracted to Dave almost immediately. Vivan caught David’s eye from the beginning, what starts as just a night turns into a weekend and then longer. How will they make the distance work and how will they make everything else work as well especially when she hears his family talking about him not putting his degree to use? A good story of two people working through all of the external noise to be together, David does have some issues to work through and she helps him. I found this to be a good book with good characters and an easy read.

I received this book for netgalley in exchange for a review.
I found it easy to read and quite spicy but nothing about it drew my attention or to want to read it again. It was still a good book just not my cup of tea.

Dave and V meet when she is on vacation in his home town, will they have a chance at long distance? I liked how it was told from both points of view. I want to go back and read the other books in this series now!

This is a romance book that I read a few weeks ago and forgot to post about! I have to comment on my pet peeve again which is I don’t like it when characters are referred to by an initial. In this case Vivian is called V or doc throughout the book. Overall this book was a compelling romance story and it kept my interest.

3.75 stars. I was given this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is a cute romcom. I enjoyed it. I felt emotionally connected to Dave and V and was rooting for them at the end. I enjoyed V’s friends Kes and Rea a lot. They were super fun characters. It is a little spicer than my typical reads but nothing too raunchy. The author does refer to the women’s vagina as “the sex” which gave me the Ick. I’m a little disappointed that there was not much of a Christmas element to the book. With the Christmas focused cover I expected a lot more Christmas. The book spanned from September to December with the smallest section being December. Overall a cute quick romcom.

Happy Book Birthday to @e.f.dodd !

This book was kind of an interesting grab for me. I was scrolling through netgallery and saw the cover and I clicked the request now button in 2 seconds. I do not normally cover buy but this one got me.

Almost Perfect is a spicy romcom with sex and the city vibes. This is the 3rd book in a series but could be read on its own. The romance is a meet cute situation but grows through long distance. I personally believe everyone needs a Dave in their life.

The three friends are what got me on this though. Their banter is funny and each brings something different to the group.

The story itself discusses some heavy topics about long distance relationships, how one sees another, and how others see the relationship. Both V and Dave while in love also come from two different backgrounds and that plays some tension in their relationship to add a good plot to the spice.

This one is on Kindle unlimited to kick off the holiday season! Please go read if you want a good laugh and a heart full of love.

Thank you to @smithpublicity for allowing me to be a part of this book tour!

Although the cover is charming, and the title is good, I didn’t fully know what to expect from this book, as I had never read one from this author before.
I thought it was going to be a more basic Hallmark style romance, based on some of the things I read about it. But it actually was a little bit more than that.
I don’t read too many books that start off with the point of view from the male perspective. So, that was a welcomed change.
A bit abrupt in the way the story gets straight into the spark of romance side of it, but I actually liked that as well.
I do like an instant chemistry romance over a slow burn, etc. So this book was for me!
I think this book would do well brought to film in some way.
There wasn’t a lot of depth to the story though, so I couldn’t give it a full five stars, but I would definitely recommend it. And I would read more by this author, loved the pacing and the writing style.

Thank you to author, EF Dodd, NetGalley and Sugar Beaver Books for the opportunity to read this book in advance of it being released.

This was my first experience reading something by this author. It was a fast-paced and easy read, perfect for the holidays. Vivian is a doctor who comes into town with her friends on vacation and walks into the bar that Dave tends and pretty much takes his breath away. Vivian was the type of person who had a plan and made lists and like to check things off that list. Dave was back in his hometown tending a bar, and wasn't where he wanted to be at this point in life. But when he meets Vivian, he knows things have to change if he wants to be with a girl like her. But Vivian is here to have fun while on vacation, not expecting a permanent relationship. However, as she spends more time with Dave, she is not sure anymore that this thing between is only just a fling.
The characters were nicely crafted and entertaining and the chemistry between them was undeniable. This was a delightful, lighthearted read and I had a nice time reading it. I was, however, a little disappointed there wasn't an epilogue. I usually look forward to seeing a glimpse into the characters' future after the story has ended, and I didn't get that opportunity here. Other than that, it was an enjoyable and entertaining story.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Super easy, holiday spicy read! This was such a cute book but nothing I haven't read before with a simple storyline.

Thank you to NetGally for letting me read this book. Unfortunately I am giving it a 2 stars. I wanted to love it but I couldn’t do the 3rd person point of view. I ended up DNFing it because of this. At some point it became hard to follow and I think this would have done better in dual pov. The cover is gorgeous and made me want to read it and fall in love with it, it looks so Christmasy and It seemed like that really would not be happening until towards the end of the book.

Really enjoyed the first half of this book and then it kind of fell off and I felt like nothing really happened and I was putting it down more and getting bored. I enjoyed the characters, their spice and chemistry, and actually liked them together, but other than that there wasn't really anything special about this story. Also, I was expecting it to be a bit more holiday focused since the cover seemed festive, but the story takes place between Halloween and Christmas, with Christmas being one of the very last scenes in the book. Anyways, this wasn't a bad story per say, I think it just needs a bit of guidance. I'd still give this author another chance in the future.
