Meghan is a single mother and full time nurse. One day during a shift, a patient named Caitlin arrives at the hospital in a coma with a brain injury because she jumped from a bridge. Soon after her arrival a witness comes forward indicating that Caitlin may have been pushed. Meghan doesn’t typically get so close to patients but she finds herself inserting herself into her family's lives. Soon Meghan realizes that getting too close may have put her and her daughter in danger.
A riveting tale that will not only keep you on the edge of your seat but keep you guessing until the end. This was a really quick read that is full of mysterious secrets, lies and deception. I didn’t see the final twist coming.

This month the #literarylovelies read my pick! I chose @marykubica’s newest thriller which just came out in April. I loved her books Local Woman Missing and I thought this could be a good fit for book club.
There were some mixed reviews amongst us, but I really liked this one! The last thriller we read together was missing big twists and She’s Not Sorry had tons! It also had a few topics that were interesting such as life after divorce, moving on as a single mother, domestic violence, etc.
Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse working one day when a young woman comes in with serious injuries. She fell from a bridge and no one knows if this was her own doing or if she was pushed. When it looks like it was a crime, who did it? At the same time as this is happening, a friend of Meghan’s from HS appears one night at Meghan’s divorce support group and they pick up their friendship again. But Nat’s story is hard to hear and she wants to help her in anyway she can. She’s also raising a 16 yr old daughter who keeps her on her toes and there’s a man in their neighborhood who is attacking women. All these things keep Meghan’s mind going.
This book flew by! I read most of it in one evening and I really couldn’t put it down. I had to know what happened to Caitlin. There were also a few twists I didn’t see coming at all. It made for a great discussion because I love to see who could guess what was happening and which really did take us by surprise. Our book club meeting nights are always my favorite and I love catching up on my friends’ lives as much as discussing the book.
Thank you @parkrowbooks @htpbooks @htp_hive and @bookishfirst for my gifted copy.

She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica is a slow-burn thriller about a nurse named Meghan and a patient she's caring for in the ICU who jumped from a pedestrian bridge in an attempt to take her own life Meghan's life is a little hectic with this patient, a 16 year old daughter who is pushing some boundaries, and ex husband who is constantly being a pain, and now a person who is attacking women in her area of the city at night. She also attends a divorce support group meeting and has run into an old high school friend named Caitlin. Caitlin seems to be scared of her husband and Meghan offers to help, glad that her old friend is back in her life. But all is not what it seems in this story.
I thought this book was okay. It was a slow slog through the first half. The constant inner monologue of how horrible men were, how scary the city was for single women, especially single mothers with teen daughters, the drone of the names of area in the city, the whine of how hard her life is. I really wasn't interested in all that. Sometimes it seems like Meghan was overly cautious, but most of the times she just seemed dumb and made dumb choices.
The twist near the end was a relief. The book was too slow and repetitive with too many plot points going on. I think if you enjoy slow burn thrillers with a nice surprise you will enjoy this book by Mary Kubica. I personally have enjoyed her other novels, but this one was a miss for me this time.
Than you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This was a quick and fun read that differs from Kubica’s previous books. There were two different stories unraveling at once, and while I guessed some of the twists early on, there were still some surprises at the end. I always love to read books set in my hometown and there were so many scenes that took place late at night on the streets of Chicago, which were creepy! However, there were some plot holes in the story where I don’t think some characters would have got away with what they did if this was real life. If you can get past that and just enjoy, it’ll be worth it.
Read if you enjoy:
-Domestic suspense
-Serial killer storyline
-Complicated mother/ daughter relationships
-Chicago setting

My jaw dropped and I audibly gasped at the twist. It was not what I expected. At times there was so much going on, that I wasn’t sure who to believe, who to suspect, or how things were connected. There were so many layers and unreliable and untrustworthy characters. The way the layers are slowly pulled back to carefully weave all the storylines together had me riveted and left me shocked.

This book successful weaves multiple dark storylines to culminate with a successful unexpected ending. It is a well written mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. It begins with Meghan Michaels, a recently divorced ICU nurse, assigned to a critical care suicide patient in a coma from jumping off a bridge. But the question becomes did she or was she pushed? Unable to keep a professional distance, Meghan delves into the patient’s life. The author is a skilled story teller creating this book full of twists and turns.
I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I'm obsessed with Mary Kubica's writing! She is able to suck me into her story and I won't stop reading until the book is done! Her twists are always SO well done!!

I've been hooked on this author for the last four years. She is a great thriller/mystery writer. This was a great read. I loved the twist! That girl Caitlin really is sick. The book left me with the same questions Meghan had though. I'm not sure I could have just left the questions unanswered.

If you like slow burn but twisty thrillers this one is for you!!!!!!! Mary Kubica never disappoints with her twists and turns.

I enjoyed this one, it was a quick twisty thriller, but not the best one I ever ever read. It did take me a little while to get into it and there were def a few loose ends that didn’t get tied up and that always irks me. But overall I think it’s worth a read.

I didn’t finish this book. I wasn’t invested in the characters. I figured out the ending, which never happens because I’m a naive reader. I’m always surprised, but this one was easy to figure out.

She’s Not Sorry is a story about mistakes and the regrets, or lack thereof, that go with them. The story starts with two main events. One is from the perspective of the narrator, who has to care for a patient who recently jumped off a bridge. The same narrator also has a story that involves meeting an old high school friend at a divorce support group. These two stories eventually intertwine for a shocking twist! While I did enjoy the story for the most part, I found parts to not be entirely convincing. Everything worked out that the narrator’s life was just an utter mess. Also - how do you not recognize someone that you know? I’m not quite sure how someone got away with lying about their identity…
For the most part though, the story was engaging and interesting. Sienna was my favorite character by far ;)

This is my second Kubica thriller since "Local Woman Missing," which I enjoyed, and both have been pretty solid trips. Kubica is an expert at pacing and also incorporates suburban topics that have me rooting for the characters, ideally to make it to the end of the books unscathed, though you never know! There is a unique "tenderness" about the way she approaches this, almost as if there's a reason behind why she's writing them and not just devolving into typical salaciousness or lurid details. I appreciate that and will definitely seek them out more in the future!
Specifically to this one, we have medical drama, family turmoil, long-lost classmates, and city strife that can be ripped from the headlines. Some of it did hit a little too close to home, and there was one trope that I wasn't particularly sold on; still, there was at least one twist I totally didn't see coming, so I appreciate that! Definitely a solid read from me, and I'll be checking out more of Kubica's work in the future, for sure!

This was fantastic! The suspense builds up and sucks you in! The characters are well written. This is one of my favorite thrillers I've read this year! Highly recommend! Special Thank You to Mary Kubica, Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I rated She's Not Sorry 5 out of 5 stars. In this novel, like in all her others, Mary Kubica builds a world full of rich characters with something to hide. You are introduced to Meghan Michaels early on and you get right on her side. You believe the good in her as a single mother and caring nurse. But everything is not as it seems when Caitlin arrives in the hospital in a coma. Mary Kubica has a brilliant way of illustrating a world you can imagine yourself in. I lost myself in this story and did not put it down often. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an intriguing, engaging and captivating read.

I absolutely loved this book!! I couldn’t put it down.
I just loved all the characters. I highly recommend this book.

I could not get into this story it was just not for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Mary Kubica has long been a favorite author of mine so when I found out she had a new release out, of course I knew I had to read it.
And it was everything and much more than I expected from Mary!
Meghan is an ICU nurse and her newest patient survived a suicide attempt and is in a coma. As always, Meghan takes good care of Caitlin as she’s always done for all of her patients.
In her personal life, Meghan runs into an high school friend, Nat, and they pick up their friendship.
And then the twists hit. Oh my. There are several and I honestly didn’t see them coming. They certainly left me with my mouth hanging open.
I’ve read most or all of Mary’s books and I believe this one is my favorite!
*Thank you so much to Harlequin Trade Publishing, Park Row, and NetGalley for the eARC!*

I'm indifferent about this one. I thought it had potential, but kind of reminded me of a bunch of other popular stories that were just thrown together. I found it to be quite boring.
