Wow, She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica took me on a thrilling ride from start to finish! As a newbie to Kubica's work, I must say I'm completely blown away by the depth and intricacy of this story.
Following Meghan, an ICU nurse juggling the challenges of single motherhood and a demanding job, the narrative dives headfirst into the mystery surrounding Caitlin's tragic accident. Was it a suicide attempt, or something more sinister? The tension builds with each page turn as secrets unravel and suspicions arise.
What I loved most about this book was the way Kubica skillfully weaves together multiple dark storylines, keeping me guessing until the very end. There's a palpable sense of unease as two distinct narratives unfold simultaneously, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, Kubica throws in some unexpected twists that left my head spinning.
The medical setting adds an extra layer of intensity to the story, and I found myself completely immersed in the drama and chaos of the hospital environment. Plus, the characters are so well-developed that I couldn't help but become emotionally invested in their fates.
While there were a few loose ends left untied, they didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. She's Not Sorry is a gripping thriller with plenty of surprises and characters you'll love to hate. Mary Kubica has definitely earned a spot on my list of must-read authors, and I can't wait to dive into more of her work!

hank you to @htpbooks and @netgalley for this advanced copy.
I am a big fan of Mary Kubica so I was super excited when I got approved for this ARC on NetGalley. Her books was some of my early favorites when getting into thrillers.
This book felt like a lot was going on, and at first, I kind of had trouble keeping up. However, this is the first book I read postpartum and we were in and out of the hospital with my son so I could have just been distracted.
I trusted no one in this book. Every character made me feel uneasy and it kept me guessing until the very end.
There was a great mid-story twist and then the big twist at the end. I did not guess what was going to happen.
The formatting was kind of wonky on my kindle due to it being an ARC which I think contributed to some of my confusion while reading at first so I think the finished copy would likely be a better reading experience.
I rate this twisty thriller ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.5) stars.
Is this one on your radar?

Wo w this book has a lot going on! You start off with a bang and get thrown around into two other parts that eventually lead up to one really screwed up ending lol. This was a fun read and I was lucky to be able to get an advanced copy. I think the only thing that bothered me was how the mom was really really nervous for most of the book, until you learn why.

This book is very slow at the beginning. Keep reading and it will pay off with lots of twists and turns!
Who is this patient? What happened to her? How is everything connected??
Everything comes together at the end!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy to read.

I have such mixed feelings about this book. It made me feel actual paranoia and fear at one point which almost never happens to me and the dual timeline twist shook me to my core and had me questioning if I had missed something. I even went back to check the tenses between the timelines.
That being said, there were several issues I couldn’t stop thinking about. Having the prologue placed verbatim into the story was so annoying. The prologue made the beginning of the story deeply confusing anyway to be honest so I feel like this book could’ve done without it. There were several times when the main character rattled off very well known domestic violence statistics in a way that felt like I was being talked down to. I would guess that the vast majority of domestic thriller readers already know that information so it didn’t need to be inserted in such an educational way. I also immediately predicted who the predator was and that was disappointing because the other twists in this book were quite good.
I feel like if these minor issues were recognized they would’ve been very easy fixes which would’ve made this book an easy 5 stars for a lot of people, including me

Meghan Michaels is trying to navigate life a single working mom of a teen girl in a crazy world. With a lunatic on the loose, attacking women in their tow, she is trying desperately to hold it all together. On her caseload in the ICU, is a woman who was thought to jump from a bridge, trying to commit suicide. That is, until evidence comes forth that she was pushed. Does this attack align with the others that have happened recently? Or is this one closer to home?
Thank you to NetGalley and Mary Kubica for the advanced copy of this intense and twisty thriller.
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The main character was relatable and I felt her pain the entire way through this book. There were many surprises and some things that I am still questioning.
Will there be a follow up? I sure do hope so!
This book will live on in my brain for quite sometime, I'm sure!

She’s a caring person, an excellent nurse, a devoted mother and still is not sorry for the horrific measures she implemented to keep her status as such. This is an exciting, nonstop read that has you wondering how many “bad” men can one woman encounter. Some are tangentially in her life but all seem to be hiding something.
The author gives the the big “oh my” moment mid book that sends the story in another trajectory and adds twists that all circle back on themselves, most of which the reader did not see coming.
The ending still leaves secrets in place, a teenager that’s way too mature to be believed by this reader and the expectation that while she’s not sorry for her actions, they will still have her looking over her shoulder forever.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mary Kubica's latest thriller, a bingeable, fast-paced story that is chock full of twists and turns. The protagonist, Meghan, is an ICU nurse who is a single mother of a young teenage girl. Meghan is caring for Caitlin, a client who has a traumatic brain injury after jumping from a bridge and landing on train tracks. Megan becomes overly involved in Caitlin's life, and the lives of her family members.
Kubica weaves several plots throughout the story, adding to its mystery and depth. Most every character seems suspect, leading the reader to question their motives and actions. The characters were well-developed and the pacing of the story was perfect. The first major plot twist took me by surprise, I didn't see it coming.
Did Caitlin jump or was she pushed? Who is the man that Meghan finds standing over Cailin's bed in ICU? Who is the man that has been stalking and raping/killing young women in Chicago? The reappearance of a high school friend. Are these incidents related? How does a person know whom they can trust? Read this delicious thriller to find out!
Trigger warnings: Suicide, sexual assault, domestic violence
Many thanks to NetGalley, Mary Kubica, and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Let me be very clear, I devoured this. I read this in two sittings and during the in between aka sleep, I was thinking about this book.
I personally, as someone who has read a decent amount of thrillers, found parts of this to be predictable but still very fun. There were some moments that I absolutely was not expecting.
I will say, I found the serial unaliver plot to be totally unnecessary and wildly predictable.
I would still without a doubt recommend this to someone who wants a very fast paced thriller that is impossible to put down.

This book was so interesting to me, I really enjoyed reading about the medical information. Along with that, the twists and turns in the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. Definitely recommend.

Interesting plot. I like Kubica’s writing. Difficult to read pages discussing suicide, needs a content warning.

In true Kubica fashion, I could not get enough of this book!
What do a woman in a coma, a divorcée, and an old high school friend have to do with each other? Maybe nothing. Maybe something. This is an expertly woven tale of lies, deception, and how far people will go to protect their secrets. A couple parts fell a little flat for me but I'd still give this a solid 4.5 and absolutely would recommend!

Add She’s Not Sorry to your TBR- it comes out April 2
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mary Kubica always just wows me with her endings! Like what did I just read, how did that just happen, how did I not catch this- or not fully? As a mom of a daughter I so related with this one. A phone call that completely shakes her. A man out on the loose, being a nurse and seeing first hand what he’s been doing, and then a secret that was shared that would change lives and ruin them quickly. Someone from her past appears, and all the lies and truths that come with their appearance. My heart dropped those chapters. I closed my book and thought, oh my gosh, no! The thought process of “would I do the same thing in that situation?”. A nurse who had to make a choice, or her life would be completely ruined. What’s the worst that could happen? How do you know it’s the right choice? But for your daughter, how can you not? So many characters who I keep thinking “it’s them!”, and was completely thrown off. The way the part two of this book unfolded, was incredibly good. It all makes sense. I am always amazed by Mary Kubicas writing and how well she keeps you hanging on. Add this one to your suspenseful thriller TBR list 📖☕️

Sigh. I STRUGGLED with this book. Hard. I started reading it when it was sent to me sometime in late 2023. It’s now the end of February 2024 and I’ve finally forced my way through the rest of it.
Like most of Mary’s books, you get what I call the three whammy. She’ll give you the shocking gasp of a twist, then she hits you with the shock and awe of a second turn, and at the very end will give you one more to leaving you guessing. Except this time- you have to yawn through almost 60% of the book to even get to the first shocking gasp.
I will recommend this book to my people, because really it’s not that long of a book. And if you manage to get yourself engaged within the first half, it would go pretty fast and make a great beach read.

This book was exactly what I was looking for from a thriller right now. After reading so many romances I just wanted a good thriller and this gave that for me.

She's Not Sorry is Mary Kubica's latest thriller, and I was not sorry that I read it (bah dum tiss). Kubica's books are consistently great, and this is no exception.
Meghan is a recently divorced ICU nurse. She lives in Chicago with her teenage daughter, Sienna. She is caring for a woman (Caitlin) who jumped from a bridge and survived, albeit with severe injuries. Caitlin is in a coma and Meghan becomes more intrigued by her life and story, especially as it is revealed that Caitlin was pushed and didn't attempt suicide.
The first 2/3 of this book are a slooooooooow burn, but not boring. There are a lot of side plots-a serial rapist in the city, a friend of Meghan's that is trying to escape an abusive husband-but everything comes together with a bang. Once the pace picks up it's great-I read the last 1/3 of this book in one sitting. My only dislike was the overly detailed and somewhat unnecessary descriptions of the streets and routes Meghan would take when walking through the city.
Overall I enjoyed this one a lot, a solid 4 stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book

This book had a very slow lead up to the twists and reveals when the story unfolds. It did however do a good, if not repetitive, job of portraying what women go through when they are alone and the dangers that face women in particular. The story itself was well told and surprising. I wasn't expecting where this was going and I liked how things came together and were explained. There were a few loose ends surrounding Caitlin's family and that could have been delved into more which is the only thing I can think that would have helped to make it a better, more well rounded book. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers, especially slow burn thrillers.

Another thrilling adventure by Mary Kubica. You think the book is going one way just for it twist and turn the opposite direction. Meghan is a divorced, single-parent trying to do it all on her own. With a predator running lose through the city she tries to watch her back at every turn but, she should be looking in front of her for the real danger is close to home. Sienna is like any other teenager and gives her mom a hard time when some family secrets come out. Things aren't always what they seem. I was completely shocked thanks to Mary's amazing writing.

Firstly I want to say I’m a huge fan of Mary Kubica’s writing. The twists in this book took me by complete surprise!! I could not put this book down and read it so quickly. It was fast-paced, action packed, and it was genuinely shocking how everything ties together in the end. This was a 5⭐️ read for me, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know!
