Once I got into the story, I couldn’t put it down. Some of this novel reminded me of The Silent Patient but in other ways it was better cause I liked some of the characters. Great story with tough choices made. Open ending to keep you guessing as to what really happened.

When I say a love a good thriller! I love a good thriller.

This was a great read that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what would happen next.

Meghan is an ICU nurse who is currently taking care of a woman in a coma. Something is astray within the first few pages and sets up the story for a wild rollercoaster. There’s a killer on the loose and a woman who might not have committed suicide.

I loved how everything connected together in the end but that little cliffhanger at the end… oh my gosh. I feel like I need a little more of an explanation at the end but I can kind of fill it in myself.

I would recommend anyone to read this. It’s worth reading!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan is an ICU nurse and single mom. Although she tries not to get attached to her patients, she can't help but be pulled to Caitlin, a woman in a coma with a traumatic brain injury due to her fall from a bridge. Was it suicide? Did someone push her? She wants to find out Caitlin's story. But Meagan is also still dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and while attending a support group, she runs into Natalie, a woman that she went to high school with over 20 years ago. Natalie appears to be in abusive relationship with her husband, and even though she won't open up, Meagan wants to help her any way she can. As a nurse, Meagan's heart is always to help others... but sometimes secrets should stay hidden. (And there are a lot of them in this book!)

The beginning of the book was a bit of a struggle for me, but once you see a big twist coming, things really get interesting. At that point, the story became fast-paced with secrets being revealed all over the place. Overall, an enjoyable read that will keep you guessing until the end.

I knew that this would be a good book because Mary Kubica is a fantastic writer and this book was no exception. What I didn't anticipate however would be how fast I would get hooked and how hard it would be to do other things. This book centers around our main character Megan who is a nurse at a local hospital. Megan is given the task of looking after a young woman (Caitlyn) who is in a coma after a recent suicide attempt. Or at least that is what we are led to believe. The more that Megan digs into Caitlyn's past the more she discovers that not everything is as it seems and Caitlyn might not be as good as she previously thought. I really liked Megan right off the bat. She had lots of redeeming qualities and I liked how the story was told through her point of view so it let the reader slowly discover what actually happened to the Caitlyn, and the more her story unfolded the more I was left gasping. This book was perfect because while there were so many twists there was just enough not to confuse the reader with a lot of useless information. I loved the plot line of this book and I loved the characters even more. Everything was so magically written that I found myself submerged in the story and desperate to find out what was going on. This fast paced thriller is one that you won't want to miss. And if you are the kind of person who has to figure things out before the reveal and this is the perfect book because all of the twists and red herrings make that a very hard but fun challenge to complete. Just like Mary Kubica's other works this is one that will be glued to your side until it is finished because you won't be able to put it down. And the ending... man oh man, all I can say is you have to read this one! Right when I thought it couldn't get better it broke through the glass ceiling. Great read and I can't wait for the release date so I can start recommending it to everyone I know.

Just finished She’s Not Sorry and I really liked it. It had me totally hooked….and, it was set in my hometown, Chicago, and at my hospital! It was really awesome to read about places I know and love so much.

Meghan is a nurse who is looking after a comatose patient. At first we think it’s a suicide however, we come to learn that Meghan’s patient was pushed. As all of this is going on, there is a local predator hunting women in the streets of Chicago.

As Caitlyn’s family comes, Meghan is slowly learning bits and pieces about her patient’s life. She comes to realize that may be her. Patient wasn’t such a great woman after all. She becomes kind of overly involved. All of this mingled with a curious high school friend returning, a contentious divorce, and a teenage daughter.

It all comes together though, in the end. A few twists were obvious, but a few really threw me! However, the ending kind of disappointed me, but I’m someone who doesn’t like endings like that.

As always, Mary Kubica does not disappoint. 4 solid stars.

The beginning of the book made me hesitant to continue. The author gave the sense of over-explaining medical devices/practices which made it feel as if she was just looking to increase word-count. Being in healthcare, I may have more insight than an average reader but even if some of the details were not shared, the average reader would still have been able to understand a critical care setting. After the initial 30% or so, the book became a page turner with multiple mysteries that make the reader guessing----the relationship between Declan and Nat, Meghan's patient and the mysterious man that lingers, and an event happening at Meghan's apartment building while there is a madman on the loose assaulting women. These ideas lead the reader to continue guessing what is going to happen next and if/how these things are connected. The story continues with many layers, a brother showing up to the hospital with a story that doesn't add up, a "friend" showing up with obvious distaste for Caitlin's parents. The story starts coming together at an odd point, essentially the mysterious stranger that gives Meghan bad vibes shows up out of the blue, seeking Meghan out. Half-way through, the reader is hit with a huge twist that you didn't see coming and then slowly all of the pieces start falling into place.

ICU nurse Meghan Michaels is taking care of coma patient who jumped from a pedestrian bridge in Chicago. Or did she? There's also a rapist on the lose, attacking women as they enter their apartments alone. Early on, Meghan runs into an old friend from high school at a divorce support group and immediately suspects she's being abused by her husband. The story had potential, but it turned into a big mess of weak red herrings, insignificant side plots and stupid decisions. The scene from the prologue doesn't re-emerge until probably 3/4 of the way into the book, at which point you've totally forgotten about it and it upsets the timeline that you thought the story was on in a confusing way. The rapist is obvious from the moment the character is introduced and questions are left unanswered at the end because Meghan would prefer to be oblivious to the truth. I think? To me, it was a few too many ideas put into one story making them all too weak.

I loved this book. It was unpredictable and the tension kept building. I seriously read it in one evening and thoroughly enjoyed.

What the heck was this?

First of all, I understand an ARC isn't going to be perfect and there will be errors throughout. That's fine. But there were zero page breaks in the formatting, which made it really confusing to figure out timelines. You'd be reading a scene and then the next paragraph is a new day, new location. It was jarring and unexpected because it threw me for a loop and I had to go back and see if I missed something, only to determine there was probably a page break that never got formatted.

Here's where this book went wrong for me. Possible spoilers will be tagged.
- Too many things going on at once. I kind of went in blind (read the synopsis forever ago but forgot what it was about by the time I got the ARC) so most of this book was a surprise. Was it about her divorce? The man assaulting women throughout her city? The gal in the ICU? Her friend that came back into her life? The Beckett family who seemed to have a ton of secrets, including the brother who was def hiding something? I feel like if she focused on one or two of these things, it would have worked. Not all of them.
- The pacing. Holy shit this was rough. It was so slow. I had no interest in any of the characters, including the main one, Meghan. She seemed kind of...dumb? I can't place my finger on it. But she wasn't too bright. It's hard to continue a book when you don't give a damn about anyone or anything. I think 65% if finally felt like things were "picking up."
- Mary spent wayyyyyyy too much time describing where Meghan lived. Listen, I don't need to know street signs and landmarks. I don't need to know--as she's chasing characters down the road--what the air felt like and how the trees smelled or the way the buildings looked in the shadows of the afternoon. I'm being harsh. But I skimmed PAGES (maybe a single page if we aren't talking paperback as opposed to my Kindle setting) of random crap and info you don't need to know about in this story. Like apartment layouts and hospital info that gave nothing to the story but filler.
- One "twist" was so freaking obvious, I was like wait a sec. (view spoiler) I feel like she got her twists confused and wanted to have too many that ultimately didn't work. You also need to create more red herrings if you want to play out one that she used in the book. That was lazy writing and honestly, I was really pissed.

Also Meghan just DROPPING THIS BOMB on her friend and confessing....SPOILER...was outrageous.

What else? I don't know. This just didn't feel like her writing. To compare this to The Other Mrs. is blasphemy. Those are two different worlds, two different books. I gave Mrs. five stars. Loved that book.

I don't know about this one. If you love Mary's books, you'll love this one. If you're on the fence and always rating maybe 3 stars or less, you might not like this one. Skip it. Or read it, come back and read my review, and let me know what you think. Am I crazy? Too harsh? Probably. But this one really fired me up.

This was INSANE. I’m dizzy from the last 100 pages in the best way.
This was a slow burn thriller following Meagan an ICU nurse who is caring for an attempted murder patient. Meagan is recently divorced and doing her best to raise her teenage daughter. She’s overwhelmed by her patient’s case and wanting to find answers while also having to deal with fearing a rapist and murderer who is on the loose in her city.
I’m not kidding when I say this had more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. Loved it!!!
Thank you net galley for the digital arc🤍

Mary and her ability to give me whiplash with all the twists she puts in her books lol a good book with all creepy hospital feels. This book will keep your attention there isn’t an excessive amount of stuff going on but the perfect amount to keep you wanting to read more and more !

This was a pretty good read although I felt like there was a lot going on. I liked the timeline aspect, that threw me off. I felt like Luke being the attacker wasn’t the strongest piece. I would’ve liked to hear more about Caitlin’s roommate and brother, I thought those were interesting leads that ended up useless.

Local Woman Missing is one of my favorite thrillers I’ve read so far this year so I was ecstatic to be approved for a ARC of She’s Not Sorry! Mary Kubica did not disappoint in this latest release of hers.

I recommend going into She’s Not Sorry mostly blind for the best reading experience, but it does follow a ICU nurse who has a patient come in tbat is in a coma from a botched suicide attempt. We soon begin to realize everything may not be as it seems with this patient. There is also a side storyline of a serial predator terrorizing the city and I found that storyline super creepy and it added an intense/creepy undertone to the story.

I reallly enjoyed the first half of She’s Not Sorry. I couldn’t stop reading and when I had to it’s all I was thinking about. I just wanted to see how everything played out (although I did figure out one of the twists pretty early on). Unfortunately, after the first big twist/reveal I felt everything was a bit rushed and wrapped up too nicely for my liking.

Still such a solid thriller and Mary Kubica is fast becoming a favorite of mine!

She's Not Sorry is a heart pounding thriller centered around an ICU nurse, Meghan Michaels who finds herself entangled in the mystery surrounding one of her patients. Every step Meghan takes to uncover the truth behind what led her patient to the ICU inches her closer to danger.

"One more chapter.." That's what I told myself at 9pm. I screamed silently with each plot twist and eventually finished the book at 2am. There was the right amount of suspense with perfectly timed twists to throw you off track, you never really know who you can trust. I thoroughly enjoyed She's Not Sorry and was entertained from cover to cover.

I'll be raving about this one for a while!

I. Loved. This. Book. It is right up there with Local Woman Missing as my favorite read from Mary Kubica, and I will need to add a physical copy to my shelf ASAP!

She’s Not Sorry focuses on Meghan, a single mom and ICU nurse going through a rough patch. So many things are happening in he vicinity at one time- she is taking care of a woman in a coma who someone may have attempted to murder, she meets up with a friend from high school who is in an abusive relationship and has no support system, her daughter is pulling away from her, and a man is attacking women in her neighborhood, so she is living with fear.

With so many divergent plots happening, I was amazed at how well the story flowed. Meghan is a sympathetic character just trying to do the best for her daughter and to make it through the day to day. Her interactions with others felt authentic to her character, and the portions about being a nurse were well done. As a nurse myself, it can bother me when an author doesn’t seem to do their research when writing about this role, but Kubica did a fantastic job.

There are plenty of twists here, moments that had my anxiety piqued, and an ending that worked perfectly. Twisty, fast paced, and very bingeable, I’ll be recommending this one!

Thank you to HTP Books and Park Row for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley, Harlequin, and the author for my ARC copy of this book. She’s Not Sorry is a heart pounding psychological thriller with twists lurking around every corner. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time attempting to guess what was coming next. The pacing and plot development was perfectly executed and kept me wanting more with each page that I read. This is a must read for anyone who loves psychological thrillers!

This book captured me from the beginning and kept my attention all the way to an end. Mary knows how to keep you on your toes!

Mary Kubica never fails to keep me on my toes while reading her novels. This one certainly was no different and I ended up reading this in under 24 hours because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

This fell somewhere in the middle for my ranking of her books, and I think that's because some of the plot points didn't feel like they were all properly flushed out and I was left with a handful of unanswered questions at the end which felt frustrating.

While the main character is not very likable, I still found myself rooting for her. I loved seeing how she fell prey but quickly pivoted and gained the upper hand of the situation, but it would have been nice for the first major reveal to come into play a bit earlier on in the story to really draw readers in. I also think the prologue was a bit of a red herring which frustrated me and took away from the beauty and uniqueness of the real plot.

Overall, I'll definitely be recommending this one to my followers and continue to look forward to more by Kubica!

Mary Kubica did an amazing job with this thriller. It was so gripping and kept me hooked with all the twists and turns. I was completely unable to guess any of the twists in the story. Mary is an expert when it comes to surprising the readers. the characters were very mysterious; each in their own right and it helped me kind of love the characters even more. This was definitely a popcorn thriller or me. so fast paced and twisty and turns that i loved it right now but probably will not be something I remember months from now. As an avid thriller reader its very hard to find something that sticks out completely to me anymore.

She’s Not Sorry

🩺🩺🩺🩺/5 (4/5)

Mary Kubica does it again. She is becoming an auto buy author for me. I LOVED Local Woman Missing and although that’s still my favorite from Kubica, this one is really great too.

This is definitely one that will make you think and there are so many red herrings that you won’t know where the twists are going to take you. I didn’t figure this one out and to me, that’s a great thriller!

Really interesting characters and plot twists. There were some parts that seemed unnecessary to include to the plot but I think the author threw in a lot to distract you from what was really going on. I gasped audibly at this book and that doesn’t happen often.

Also the premise of the book being in a hospital is creepy too…and makes you not trust nurses. Can’t wait to see what else this author puts out.
