This book was way too long.
We follow Meghan, a nurse, go about her life. She spends a lot of time around trains in Chicago. I don’t know Chicago, and a lot of details like names of streets and L trains are thrown in. I didn’t understand any of that.
Nothing happens for the first 65 percent of the book. I struggled to get to that point. I didn’t care about any of the characters or about the plot by this point. I thought I’d end up giving this book only 2 stars. But once the action picked up, it got much better.
I’m not a fan of the step by step writing. For example: Her phone rang. She opened her leather bag and began the attempt to find her phone before it stopped ringing. Instead she found gum, her wallet, and her keys. Finally on the fifth ring, she found her phone. She pulled it out and answered it… Yeah, I get bored from that kind of writing. I know a lot of others love it and that it can build the suspense for them. It was just a miss for me.
The first twist really did surprise me, which is why the star rating went up. I’ll try this author again. She is obviously creative and talented.
I received this advanced copy from Netgalley for my honest review.

I thought this book was an extremely slow burn, the beginning I thought was boring and repetitive, it took me a lot longer to get through this because of that. About 70% through the twist and turns started happening to keep you more intrigued.

The pace in this one starts slow and then gradually ramps up until the final 30% which will send you on a wild ride.
The tone and mood stay consistently dark and creepy, so even when not much is happening, you still feel like something bad is just around the corner, just like in a horror movie and the creepy music starts.
THE TWISTS! The main twist particularly floored me and sent me into a downward spiral of self-doubt, because HOW did the author play me like that?!
Some critiques: There seemed to be an overabundance of unnecessary details and repetition, there were so many loose ends that were never tied up, and the main character’s choices were odd.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book, Keep me all night reading! I read other books from the same author Mary Kubica, and this one might be one of my favourites. The perfect book for a vacation I Recommend :)

Meghan works as a nurse to support herself and her sighted. When Caitlin becomes her patient, she gets close to her story and the investigation into her attempted suicide… or attempted murder.
This is a good one but the excitement and suspense takes sometime to kick in. At about 60%, it goes from 30 mph to 80 and just keeps the gas on the pedal. I loved the main twist, but there were some additional twists to shock the reader even further. There was some good family drama as well for a sub plot.
“I’m not a bad person. I’ve just done something bad.”
She’s Not Sorry comes out 4/2.

Wowowow!!! I literally shrieked out loud when I found out about Caitlin. That was a twist I did not see coming. I expected the Luke thing, but narrator pushing Caitlin was the best twist I have experienced in awhile. I have to admit I felt it was slow at first and was about to put it down. Then I got to about half way through and it took a turn for the better. I was on the edge of my seat and ended up staying up all night reading to find out what happened next ! Thank you for the wonderful writing and interesting storyline !

This book actually gave me nightmares and that's saying a lot. Absolutely a fantastic thriller and chiller for those winter nights and you want something to wrap around you. This book had me guessing until the end and the ending is a plot twist that I would never guess. Absolutely an amazing book and I can't wait for this to be released in 2024, definitely adding this to my list of anticipated books of 2024.

I really enjoyed this slower-paced mystery/thriller from Mary Kubica. Typically I enjoy more fast-paced books, especially thrillers and mysteries; however this book still pulled me in and kept me engaged while simultaneously wondering when the plot was going to start. It seems that most of the book is really the setup so that the big reveal at the end concerning the patient is more impactful. Additionally the subplot about the women getting attacked woven through the whole book added to the thrilling and creepy factor of the story. Overall the book had a an unsettling feel to it which I’m sure was intended. Additionally we have a morally grey main character which certainly made things interesting, especially at the end. I would recommend this book, and it will have you guessing the whole way through!
Thank you for the ARC!

This book is AMAZING! Had me hooked from the first page and kept me guessing all the way to the end. Meghan is an ICU nurse whose life takes a turn when a new patient arrives in a coma. As the story begins to unravel, it becomes apparent that everything is not as it seems... just when I thought I knew what was going on, I was wrong! The twists were unexpected and definitely kept me on my toes! Would 100% recommend!

Initially this was a slow burn for me, but once I hit 60% I absolutely knew there was no way I was putting the book down until it was finished.
I thoroughly enjoyed the twists, and would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Solid four stars. I was reading this at a restaurant and my jaw was dropped for 45 seconds after the big reveal. Kubica is such a skilled writer that I feel dumb for not predicting it. Although I was half right about the ending. I would have given five stars if the resolution is it relates to the patient’s family was better explained. They aren’t really addressed at the end. (I don’t want to give too much away)

Mary Kubica's storytelling prowess shines through in "She's Not Sorry." When ICU nurse Meghan gets a new patient who has suffered a terrible and near fatal fall, she soon discovers that the accident may have been a push rather than a fall. As Meghan stumbles upon more information, she tries to balance raising her own teenage daughter and navigating a recent divorce.
One of the strengths of this novel is its ability to keep readers guessing. Just when you think you've figured it all out, Kubica throws another twist into the mix, leaving you astounded and reevaluating your assumptions. The suspense and tension are palpable throughout, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I devoured this book in a couple hours, I could not put it down! The twists and turns keep you hooked until the very last page. This is definitely a must read for any psychological thriller fan!

A psychological thriller...Slow Burn-Twisty but... no surprises.
Meghan is trying to find a balance between being a single mom to a teenage daughter and working as a full-time nurse. While on duty at the hospital one day, a patient named Caitlin arrives in a coma with a traumatic brain injury, having jumped from a bridge and plunged over twenty feet to the train tracks below. There is also a man raping and killing women in the area, definitely a creepy setting clinic.
It's not just about who committed the act, but the reason behind it. The author made sure everything fell into place and didn’t get confusing for the reader. While you're reading this story you are going to be coming up with several different theories as to why happened, and who is this man doing these horrendous crimes. I love thrillers/mysteries where there are hidden details the whole time.
Thank you, NetGalley -Parks Row and Mary Kubica for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Meaghan Michaels is a single mom with a teenager, who works as an ICU nurse. One day she is assigned to a coma patient, who is thought to have jumped from a bridge.
As is her practice, Meghan tries to remain detached from her patient, but finds herself spending more and more time with the patient and her family; becoming more emotionally attached to them as time goes on.
When a witness to the fall comes forward, the hunt is on for a potential culprit. At the same time, the city is also on the hunt for a serial rapist. Could these two cases be related? Is Meghan or her daughter at risk?
Lots of twists and turns in this one. A thriller that kept me hooked till the end. I give She’s Not Sorry a solid 4 stars.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC!
The book was extremely easy to follow and read. The story follows Meghan, a nurse, who is taking care of a patient that has all of the staff talking in the hospital. Along the way we get to know more about her struggles with her divorce, raising her daughter, and her growing anxiety and paranoia over the recent news that there is a man attacking women on the streets.
I was captivated the entire time although I wish that there was a bit less depth in directions and the sights around Meghan. It seemed almost street by street and it got lost on me because I don't know the area anyways. Instead maybe focusing more on giving us a bit more personality and information about Meghan.
Figured out a really early who the man was that was attacking the women and maybe a little more mystery around that would've been nice.

Mary Kubica does no wrong! She is an auto buy and an auto read author for me. I loved this one and will be highly recommending!

She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica is a twisty thriller that does not disappoint. Meghan Michael’s, an ICU nurse and single mom, discovers some chilling secrets about a new patient she is caring for.
I could not put this book down and finished it in one day. The suspense and twists were fantastic. The main character was so relatable and I was rooting for her the entire book. Mary Kubica’s imagery in her writing allowed me to visualize exactly how each scene looked and felt as it played out.

I’m really surprised the ratings are so high for this. This was not one of my favorite books of hers. I thought the twists were interesting but I found my self skimming chapters of the book toward the end.

Meghan Michaels is a loving mom and nurse who finds herself in a tough predicament after opening her home up to a friend in need who is trying to distance herself from an abusive spouse. She believes the woman is a friend she knew in high school and the two of them meet again after many years as both of them are going to a divorce support group.
Two alternating story lines have Meghan immersed in both until a dramatic finish brings both her professional and personal life crashing together. Nothing and no one is who them seem in this thrilling plot as Meghan tries to protect herself and her daughter from the people that seem to be out to get them.
This book was brilliant. So many twists and the plot was so compelling. This will be one talked about as the finish was nothing I expected. My jaw dropped many times in this book. The beginning of the book was a slow burn for me. It took me awhile to get in to the plot. About halfway through the story line really takes off and by the end I was furiously swiping each page to figure out how it would all play out. I loved this book. My only negative criticism is that for as slow as the plot developed the ending seemed rushed. The story came to a crashing halt and while the epilogue does finish out the story nicely, I wanted more. There were several loose ends not explored. Meghan seems to get off scot free for what she did; however there is no follow through on what became of Caitlyn’s family or their reaction to Meghan’s mistake. They were a big part of the plot for a good portion of the book, and I felt the ending left some questions unanswered. Still a fantastic story with a twist in the timeline of things I was not expecting. Solid 4 star read.
