I really can't decide how I feel about this one... it wasn't BAD but it also didn't do much for me. Yes the MCs had chemistry, but they went from 0 to 100 pretty quickly, it was alluded to that they chatted and got to know each other while they were hooking up, but the readers didn't get to "see" that so it felt like things turned real very suddenly and without much context. And it was very repetitive... Grayson f-ing West... and how many times did Emmy need to storm away seeing red?? I think that this had a lot going for it but the execution fell pretty flat for me.

One thing I love about Falon Ballard's books is how easy they are to devour and lose yourself in! Right on Cue is no exception.

Emmy and Grayson are celebrities - she's primarily a writer and a child of Hollywood stars, he's an action hero actor - who made a movie together as teens that was widely panned and forgotten about. When Grayson steps in to fill a role in Emmy's latest movie - that she's acting in - it's quick to see Emmy has never forgotten what Grayson said about her. The tension and chemistry between these two characters was jumping off of the pages. When they finally, FINALLY gave in, I cheered!

I knocked a star off because of the third-act breakup. It was not necessary and I would not have forgiven her as easily as Grayson did.

ARC Review. 3 stars! This was an entertaining, cozy time. I LOVED the setting and cozy vibes. I appreciated the unique premise of the story. Pacing felt good up until the last 20%, which left me feeling frustrated. I felt like the story began to drag and the third act seemed to be a plot point simply to create drama or conflict. Overall I had a good time and would recommend for someone who wants a unique romance premise and has a free weekend to cozy up with a book that will entertain them.

Another fun, spicy rom-com from Falon Ballard! I read this in maaaybe two days, probably less! I loved the characters and the charming setting - it felt like watching a hallmark movie with a cup of hot cocoa and that is absolutely a compliment.

I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, only because of the third act miscommunication plot point that felt a little out of place with the characters and their development up until then! But it was a small thing in an otherwise wonderful story!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Emmy and Grayson have a history of working together when they are teens and sadly, the way Grayson acted led to Emmy not acting again. When Emmy can't find a leading lady for her current project, her partner asks her to take it on. The leading guy was not supposed to be Grayson, but he ends up with the role. They start out terrible and the tension in the room is so thick. They are told to get it together and strike up a costars with benefits deal to get past it. Will they be able to avoid the feelings that come with it or will it make them hate each other for good?

I loved this story and the sexual tension between Emmy and Grayson. I love celebrity romances and acting together and this was just perfect for that. I do hate a third act breakup due to miscommunication. This book has some spice, but I loved how it changed their relationship.

Right on Cue is an enemies to lovers romance following Emmy Harper, a script writer who steps in front of the camera to become the leading lady of her rom com movie. Only for an old costar to be cast as the love interest opposite her. The same old costar who ruined her first ever acting role and made her step behind the camera ever since.

It’s currently 1am as I write this review and I regret nothing. I stayed up super late to finish this book because it had me hooked. The characters had amazing chemistry and had me giggling and kicking my feet every scene. I thought their story progressed at the perfect pace and they truly had time to develop their feelings. The miscommunication trope at the end was slightly annoying, but it did not ruin the book or a 5 star rating for me. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next cute read.

Celebrity romances are hit or miss for me. There usually isn’t an in between, just one or the other. But I love Falon’s writing and crossed everything that could that she would be a hit.

I loved when a book doesn’t leave you wanting for anything more, all questions are answered. It truly makes my heart so happy. I was concerned there for a bit because Falon leaves you out of things, but alludes to them. When everything finally blows up you just shake your head because lessons really weren’t learned the first time around.

The book’s plot was heavily reliant on drama that happened about 10 years ago and a miscommunication. While that usually bothers me, I found the way Falon handled each to be with grace. Even through these issues, the love and trust the characters develop is just so beautiful.

There were some areas where there was something missing. I wanted more emotion sprinkled throughout and I just felt it was missing. Additionally, the pacing kind of stalled a couple of times and it had everything to do with the scenes and how they were blocked.

Even with that, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and absolutely recommend it!

Enemies to lovers is one of my favorites tropes and this one from Ballard is one of the best I've read! Emmy and Grayson were great and it was fun to watch how much they grew and changed over the course of the book. Great characters and great writing! Ballard is an auto-read author for me, so I'll be looking forward to more from her!

Oh, this was CUTE. I’m always hit or miss with enemies to lovers, but this was done exactly right. The tension, the heat, the chemistry! The thing I liked most about this book was the character growth both Emmy and Grayson had. They started off really unprofessional and immature, but once Liz called them out (seven days past when I would have!), they both realized they needed to grow up and communicate with each other to move on from the past and start again, in more ways than one. The miscommunication trope is alive and well in this book, BUT it leads to some pretty fantastic self realization and growth for both Emmy and Grayson so I can forgive it. I also loved the look at how Hollywood and the media can really put pressure on personal relationships between celebrities. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for Ballard’s next book!

I have mixed feelings about this one! I love Fallon Ballard and Hollywood romances and at the end of the day, it was a really good book. However, there is a third act break up that is caused by a miscommunication between the 2 MC's that you can see it coming from the 50% mark. It was just way too predictable. There was just so much opportunity for growth, but the author just set it up too predictable and that for me personally made this book not one of my favorites of hers. It didn't stop me from rating it 4 stars because at the end of the day, everything else about the book was absolutely perfect. This is just a personal preference for me. If that doesn't bother you then by all means, go for it.

Emmy Harper is a former actor turned screenwriter. Her one and only performance on screen was a big flop all because of costar “Grayson F*cking West.” When she is forced to play the lead roll in her new romcom screenplay, it turns out the only male
lead available is the one and only Grayson West. If they want this movie to be a success, they need to do whatever it takes to mend their unresolved past so it doesn’t mess with their current on screen chemistry.

I will read anything that Falon Ballard writes! The lady knows just how to get my heart fluttering and my face blushing. Seriously this book was so fun to read. I love a good enemies to lovers trope with a man who will banter with the best of them. Guess what’s even better??? A man who will take care of you when you have the worst cramps ever! Sign me up for more Grayson West please! He has officially made it to my book boyfriend’s list. This story has all the components of the sweetest love story, with lots of moments that having you laughing out loud, combined with some moments that bring tears to your eyes.

This is not my first Falon Ballard book, and it won't be my last, but this one felt les put together than the others. It did start to come together for me about maybe a third to a halfway through, and it did become more enjoyable as the story went on. I had a hard time connecting with the characters, and the beginning portion of the book felt like I was walking into a story that had been started but that I hadn't read yet. I did not enjoy the random "magazine" or gossip blog exerpts throughout the book. It didn't feel like it added anything to the story. My favorite parts of this book were when Emmy was talking with her mom. Her mom was hilarious! The chemistry wasn't there for me for this book. I look forwardbto more of her books because I have loved the others and highly recommend Lease on Love and Just My Type.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

I’ve loved Falon Ballard since I got my hands on the ARC of “Lease on Love.” “Right on Cue” did not disappoint and is my favorite of her books. It’s a perfect enemies to lovers, he fell first story. I loved Emmy and Grayson and I definitely need a spinoff book of Liz’s story.

I am a sucker for second chances and Hollywood romances, so this book was right up my alley.

Emmy Harper is Hollywood royalty - her parents were industry icons, and she’s become an accomplished screenwriter. Grayson West is an action star with a himbo reputation. As teenagers they starred opposite each other in a movie - an experience that went so badly it ended Emmy’s short-lived acting career. When trouble arises while casting Emmy’s newest rom-com, she finds herself in front of the camera for the first time in over fifteen years - with none other than Grayson West playing her leading man. How can she pretend to be in love with someone she can’t stand?

Tropes: Second Chance, Enemies-to-Lovers, Coworkers with Benefits, Celebrity Romance, Forced Proximity

What I liked:
- Both MCs are well-rounded characters, with believable insecurities.
- The chemistry and sexual tension 😍I love Emmy & Grayson together.
- Great banter. Their convos, quips, and teasing felt like a real couple.
- I’ve read several books with these little blurbs and articles between chapters. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. In this case, they all served the book really well.
- Wasn’t a big fan of how the third act break up came about (see below) but I did enjoy the resolution.
- I love the dynamic between the best friend and Emmy’s mom.

There were a couple of small things that prevented this from being a five-star read for me:

- The circumstances that find Emmy and Grayson both cast in her newest film are questionable at best. And some of the other ‘Hollywood’ type stuff seemed a little uninformed. *BUT* not enough to diminish my enjoyment of the book. I’m okay with suspending belief if the rest of the book is good.
- I wish slightly more time had been spent explaining how Grayson felt when they were younger. The experience shaped Emmy in a pretty profound way, even changing the trajectory of her career. Yet the explanation for why Grayson acted the way that he did is brief to the point it could easily be missed.
- The third-act break-up felt a little contrived. It’s not even that I mind the miscommunication trope - it’s that Emmy and Grayson repeatedly reiterate how much they trust one another, only for Emmy to immediately believe the worst of Grayson.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy of this book. I look forward to buying it once it comes out.

I love enemies to lovers, second chance romance, and a Hollywood romance, all of which Right on Cue has - but unfortunately, this wasn't for me. The lead character, Emmy, is really immature, and that immaturity was reflected throughout the book overall. The love interest, Grayson, is quite flat and a jerk for so long, and their relationship doesn't have much depth. I just found myself rolling my eyes at this too often and was quite disappointed in the surface level writing.

I am a huge fan of Lease on Love and will happily pick up any book by Fallon Ballard! This was enjoyable but not particularly memorable. I read it a while back and, for me, it blends in with a number of other Hollywood romances I’ve read. That said, it’s a fun read so worth grabbing if you’re in the mood for a quick light read.

Unfortunately, I didn’t love this novel. I had a hard time getting on board with the MC’s motivations and to be honest, got a little sick of her saying ‘Grayson Fucking West.’ I also found the climax and resolution to be incredibly predictable. I’m bummed this book was not for me, but I adore Falon Ballard’s other works and she will remain an auto-read author for me.

Falon Ballard knows just how to write the fun, cute, good time romances with a lot of heart. I am a lover of movies and celebrities/pop culture so this was right up my alley.
I loved the insight to making a movie and the parts on set were really fun.
Emmy was a great lead and paired with Grayson I really enjoyed their relationship. I love a little second chance and of course paired with enemies to lovers. Both characters had such great emotional depth and the story did have a serious and more emotional moments that really added to the characters and their stories. The third act breakup really threw me off though and that is the one factor of this story I did not care for. However, everything besides that I had a really great time and enjoyed so much.

Thank you to Netgally and Putnam books for the advanced copy!

This book reads so fast, but is just kinda mid? It reminded me so much of Will They or Won't They, but without all of the emotional build-up. I wanted more depth, more longing, more pain! The costars to lovers is fun, though we didn't get to focus on Emmy and her writing very much. It all felt very surface level and almost more about Grayson? I dunno.

I found this book to move a bit slow, especially at first. It picks up around the middle of the book. It follows a fairly typical romance template going from hating each other to love to breakup to making up in the end with some unique circumstances with made it worth continuing to read it. I didn’t care for the frequent use of the “f word” throughout the book. It added nothing to the story and was often used to be degrading someone.
I give it 4 stars. It may have much more appeal to others than it did to me.
