I am a SUCKER for celebrity/ costar romances and Right on Cue is the perfect example as to why. This story is cute, charming, and had me devouring its entirety in less than a day.

Emmy is a Hollywood writer who has not been in FRONT of the camera since she was 15 and was humiliated by now Hollywood heartthrob, Grayson West. For years, she has chosen her career to take place behind the scenes until one of her rom-coms gets pick up and the only choice for the female lead is herself. This would be fine. Her best friend is the director, she had perfect chemistry with the male lead, there is no way that this experience will compare to the one that has haunted her for over a decade. But, when her male costar breaks a leg (literally) and he is replaced than none other than Grayson fu***ng West, things start to become hostile.

I ate this story up and it was a perfect pallet cleanser read! Big, big fan.

Read if you like:
- celebrity romance
- costars/ movie set
- enemies to lovers
- costars with benefits

Thank you NetGalley for tis ARC!

When I'm in a slump and dnf'ing book after book, I always reread a favorite or pick up and author that I know will do it for me. Such is the case with this read. I was perusing my kindle and stopped immediately when I stumbled on another Falon book!
Emmy's acting days are long gone and a one and done kind of thing as a teen but she's stayed in the industry as a screen-writer. Her next film is set to start production without a lead actress. Convinced by her best friend and producer to take the role, Emmy expects to play opposite another friend of long standing. But an unexpected accident finds her costar to be replaced by her nemesis and the one who ruined her acting career in the first place. Grayson shows up to set expecting a hard hitting Grammy contender and is vastly disappointed to find himself the love interest in a holiday romance.
As expected, I really enjoyed Falon's newest book. I loved the setting, loved both MCs, and the cast of characters in the background? Perfectly suited. The only thing missing for me was a little more depth that I think Falon executed so well in both Lease on Love and Just My Type. Otherwise, this book was such a happy read and slump buster.
Thank you to Putnam and Netgalley for the advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

I love a good enemies to lovers. This had incredible chemistry and tension to go along with the angst. I have loved Fallon Ballards prior stories, and this one is right up there with the best of them. Sweet, sentimental, spicy, what more could you want!? I loved this.

I love a good enemies to lovers trope, add in celebrities and nepo babies and I am always going to say yes. This is a cute and medium fast paced read. It's set in a cozy winter town so perfect read if you it's snowing outside.

I didn't fully believe the reason Grayson is so grumpy at the beginning and found the twist predictable.

If you are looking for a low stakes warm fuzzy rom com this might be for you.

3.5 stars, but rounding down to 3.

Thank you Netgalley & PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons for the advanced reader copy.

Review:
This book wasn't written for me...It was written for Falon Ballard. I can tell because I fell in love with Emmy and Grayson and the story. The words aren't deep and poetic, the banter isn't mind-blowng, but the joy is there. In every little word that Falon Ballard wrote there are the hints of former crushes and personal insecurities, there is the beauty in simplicity and heartbreak and human grudge. This is the book that makes love stories human.
Emmy is stubborn and Grayson is insecure. The depth of the charcters doesn't need to reach the center of the earth because both wear their hearts on their sleeves. I think anyone who wants a cosy read that shows joy on simplistic and human level would love Right on Cue.
Nothing is better than being able to see and feel how much love a writer has for their characters. Even if the story has it's flaws, I was able to oversee all of that because of how this book made me smile.

A rom-com (novel) about a rom-com (movie). It's a like a trope two-fer: you get all the romance between the two actors, Emmy and Grayson, plus the romantic storyline between their characters.

Emmy and Grayson were teenage co-stars in their first movie together, one that bombed because of their complete lack of chemistry. In reality, she had been madly crushing on him, but after he mocked their first screen kiss, she ended up hating him and turning her attention to the behind-the-scenes aspects of the industry. Now that she's an Oscar-winning screenwriter who's been roped into starring in the production of her latest screenplay--a return to her well-loved rom-coms--Emmy is mortified to learn that her nemesis Grayson will be her leading man. At first, filming goes as badly as it did with their first one, so in an effort to save the movie, Emmy and Grayson decided to ease the tension in a time-honored way...which leads to a much deeper relationship.

With Emmy and Grayson, you get the enemies-to-lovers, second chances, and Hollywood romance tropes. And it seems like their movie is like The Holiday, in that in involves an inn at the holidays, winter activities, and a sex scene by a roaring fire.

They have a few major misunderstandings that could be clearer up with just a bit of talking, which is a personal pet peeve of mine. Still, I found the story to be fun, engaging, and full of chemistry, so I didn't yell (too) much at the characters to stop jumping to snap judgments and start talking.

Very satisfying read overall. I'll look out for other books by this author.

This book was adorable, sweet and funny and touching. It is set around the filming of a rom com and was a great, quick read with quirky fun characters.

When Hollywood’s star screenwriter Emmy Harper finally decided to step back behind the camera to star in her next romcom, she finds they cast Grayson West, the charming movie star who nobody knows is the reason Emmy stopped acting in the first place.

This unfortunately was a major miss for me. I was very excited for the premise but it fell really flat. The characters didn’t have the depth I felt they should have, and the pacing felt rushed in many parts.

I did like the FMC Emmy at times, and felt she had the potential for a good character arc. However, I could never get behind Grayson the MMC. He started off as a bit of an asshole and I was never convinced his intentions were good, or that he actually had feelings for her. The story could have benefited from including his POV. This made it really difficult for me to believe their relationship was anything more than physical. The ending conflict also rubbed me the wrong way, as both characters acted extremely childish.

Overall the setting of this was fun and the storyline had potential to have anyone hooked. It was a very quick read and had binge-able qualities , but unfortunately for me the characters attitudes and actions really put me off fully being able to enjoy it.

Sweet and Spicy, enemies-to-lovers and second-chance. It was a little bit too insta-lovey for my taste and the miscommunication trope kept me from giving this a full five stars. But, overall, I loved it and want to continue reading from Ballard.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a cute romcom. Emmy and Grayson were meant to be with each other all along. I love the enemies to lovers with forced proximity plot. Makes it so much fun!

Right on Cue is a Hollywood romance between actors who had a falling out years ago and now have to play love interests in a romantic comedy style film. Emmy is reluctant to return to acting after many years of just being a screenwriter, but acting in a role she created is the perfect opportunity. Unfortunately for her, the male lead was last minute re-casted to be Grayson, an actor she has a complicated history with.

This book mostly takes place on a movie set as Emmy is initially unable to come to terms with working alongside Grayson. Emmy is technically Grayson’s boss and was constantly blowing up at him and calling him names on set. Grayson wasn’t any better because he could not put aside his personal feelings with the camera was on. I didn’t really find their annoyance with each other charming because of how immature they were behaving in a professional environment. Although I overall enjoyed my time reading this story, I found the character development to be quite surface level and there was not enough on-page romantic development. They had a strong sexual relationship but I wasn’t convinced that they really knew each other. I feel like this book could have benefitted from adding Grayson’s POV because his character development was really lacking to me. We are told that he was enamored with Emmy from the very beginning and I would have loved to read his thoughts.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the small town setting, the side characters, and the sexual tension between the main characters. I found this to be a really digestible and bingeable read and I absolutely adored the Hollywood aspect as well.

This was even better than Fallon’s other two books! LOVED THIS ONE!! Enemies to lovers, Hollywood relationship, secret dating, second chance, workplace romance. This has it all!! The only thing missing is of course a pov chapter or two from the male lead. I am always DYING for more insight from the male MC. I really enjoyed the pacing of this one. Despite the miscommunication trope being used I still loved this. The little gossip columns at the end of a lot of the chapters were fun to read. I can’t wait for everyone to read this!

I was so excited to read another Falon Ballard book after enjoying Lease on Love. The first few chapters of Right on Cue pulled me in and I thought I would fly through the book. A rom com being filmed at a cozy inn? Sign me up. Sadly, the book declined once the love interest was introduced. This book is one giant red flag between both characters. There's a large amount of miscommunication, gaslighting, and random sex scenes (like...so many poorly written ones).

Overall, this wouldn't be my first recommendation from this author but I'd promote it if someone was looking for a quick, steamy read.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam books for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I love Falon Ballard. Second, this novel was adorable. I feel like I've read this premise before but regardless, this had my emotions on a rollercoaster. I felt the characters were relatable, even though I'm not a movie star or anything. In addition to enjoying the main characters, I loved Liz, Sam Amanda and Emmy's mom. They seemed like the best group of comfort anyone could ask for. Books such as these that provide a behind the scenes, even fictional lives of actors, make me think if some actors feel the way these two did. I enjoyed the gossip snippets throughout. I feel I will read whatever Falon writes.

I was in the mood for a light and fun rom com and this was (mostly) just what the doctor ordered! I'm a sucker for a Hollywood setting and I really enjoyed that the book was set on a Hallmark-like move set (it was a little weird that it wasn't a holiday book because it reads like a Christmas movie, but I digress). I enjoy a good enemies to lovers but the miscommunication trope reaaally rubs me the wrong way. I liked both the main characters for the most part (even though some of their banter was sometimes a lilittle too spiteful). If you can get past the miscommunication and the sometimes too personal jabs, this was a cute and fun read!

Right on Cue was such a fun read! I went in with no expectations and enjoyed it very much. It had some of the things that I love - some antagonism, chemistry between the main characters, realistic character development, a great supportive cast.
I also absolutely loved the setting: movie-making. And the fact that the author included an intimacy coordinator in this story? Loved it. I could get a sense of the research work and effort that went into telling Emmy and Grayson's love story.
Falon Ballard writes consistently great stories. Ones you wouldn't want to miss.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I have enjoyed Ballard’s writing in the past and her ease with conversation, likable characters and overall arc of the story show up in Right on Cue. However there isn’t enough connective tissue to build the level of angst present. Is Emmy really that scarred from her 15-year old crush? Why was Grayson so hostile in the beginning? The bones are here but it feels too disjointed for me.

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was halfway in love with this when I finished reading the synopsis. It's exactly my thing and Falon definitely delivered!

The young infatuation to enemies to lovers pipeline was very well done. It unfolded at the right pace and in such a way that we were really in Emmy's head with her. Grayson annoyed me at first but once I reminded myself that our viewpoint is biased (Emmy's PoV), I cut him all kinds of slack.

I love how much of a work in progress Emmy and Grayson both are. They clearly have some issues/trauma to work through and to see a snippet of their life in the middle of that work is beautiful. The secondary characters are great, too, though I wish we'd maybe seen a bit more of them.

I'll happily recommend this to anyone looking for a feel-good story grounded in reality!

Found the main character Emmy to be childish and I relatable. Overall a cute romcom type story but did not enjoy her character
