I'm not always a fan of second chance romance but I really enjoyed this one. Falon Ballard always provides great stories and characters. I enjoyed the twist of this rom-com taking place in the filming of a rom-com.
My biggest issue was all the miscommunications between the Emmy and Grayson but it all worked out in the end. It was a little funny(ironic?) that Emmy was waiting for the other shoe to drop and let her guard down only to have the classic 3rd act breakup happen.
Thanks to NetGalley, Putnam Group, and Falon Ballard for the e-ARC of this book. This review is my own opinion.

Another FB winner! I am obsessed with Falon’s work. I like the each book has had a different premise/relationship of the main characters, but the chemistry is tight in all of them.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own!

I love Falon Ballard and this book was no exception. I loved the behind the scenes glimpse into Hollywood and the chemistry between the characters. The only downside for me was there was a lot of the miscommunication trope used and that just happens to be my least favorite romance trope out there... so that lowered the rating a bit out of frustration!

(Actual: 3.75⭐, rounded up) Very cute rom-com and the perfect read for my most recent weekend holiday! I've enjoyed all of Falon's previous works, so it's unsurprising to me that this one was also no exception. While it did take me a bit longer than usual to fully become invested in the story and relate in some way to most, if not all, of the ensemble cast (particularly both MCs, of course), by the end I was sold and thought it ended on a wonderful note! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves rom-coms and/or wants a quick beach/holiday read this upcoming season!

💭 Thoughts:
Sadly, this book was not for me. It was full of miscommunication, which is one of my least favorite tropes. I also felt like the characters seemed immature, and the ending was rushed. The excessive use of a phrase gave me the ick, but the side characters were the highlight. I absolutely loved Ballard’s two other books, though, and I definitely recommend Lease on Love and Just My Type!
Thank you to Putnam Books, NetGalley, and Falon Ballard for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely adored this story! The tropes of this one was so fun. I always love enemies to lovers and second chance. I definitely enjoyed the premise as well because I love a good movie romance story. This one also really dug into how we can let other people’s views shape how we see ourselves and how dangerous that can be. I really really loved this one. This is my first by this author and I’m excited to read more!

This one fell a little short for me. It took me a while to finish it. Something about the characters just irritated me. I’ve loved other books from Falon Ballard. I will continue to pick up her other books.

This was really fun. If you enjoy celebrity romances, this is one to keep your eye on. I thought it was funny as well

I love Falon Ballard and this one was a great addition to all her books. I love the angst on set and having to work through everything to make the movie work.

Falon Ballard strikes again! This book was a fun fast read with one of the rare times a second chance is believable -- both in that what drove them apart was serious and had a good enough explanation to merit getting back together.

Thank you Putnam for the gifted copy.
Although not my favorite book by this author, I really enjoyed Right on Cue! It was a light, albeit predictable (3rd act breakup, anyone?) read and I flew through it in two days.
I liked the fact that Emmy wrote the screenplay and ended up being the actor of the FMC in her movie (is that realistic? I don't care). Her and Grayson were super cute together, and had some good chemistry. I always love an enemies to lovers trope, add in a Hollywood film setting, and it was right up my alley.
The only thing I didn't like was the misunderstanding that lead to the breakup. I am not a fan of misunderstandings, and I did find it a bit predictable, it frustrated me how quick Emmy was to jump to conclusions and then completely shut Grayson out of her life.
I'm definitely looking forward to this author's next book!

4.5// thanks for the arc, netgalley!
Emmy + Grayson are (not mean, just hurt) enemies with a history, and now they are working together again, as leads in a romcom that Emmy wrote. Things on set are awkward and stiff, their scenes robotic, and it's their not-so-great history to blame. But then their producer (and Emmy's best friend) throws a curve ball in the filming schedule and things start to heat up.
And then it's sweeeeeeeet. Sweet sweet cute sexy cute sweet spicy aweee. Emmy and Grayson forever.
I'll read anything Falon writes!

Emmy Harper, one time child star turned Oscar winning writer is finagled into staring in her own romantic comedy movie. Unfortunately, she holds a deep seated animosity for the replacement leading man Grayson West. After a curt awkward start, they make a deal to do their best for the film. Once filming, their sizzling chemistry is undeniable. Can they overcome teenage crush/embarrassment/drama and admit to their feelings for each other? Self doubt, lack of communication and outside influences can be difficult, impossible if you are in the public eye.
Will they become Hollywood’s A list
couple or is it all just acting?
Great characters, fun banter and steamy scenes. Definitely a great read!

Thank you @PutnamBooks

I'm a sucker for a good Hollywood/celebrity romance trope; there's just something about it that draws me like a gnat to a light bulb. To say I had high hopes for this book would be a borderline understatement. To say I was disappointed would also be an understatement.
The FMC - Emmy - leaves a lot to be desired. As a professional in Hollywood...I expected way more. It's one thing to have a moment of angst seeing someone who hurt you previously, but you need to put on your big girl panties and get over it. I'm still not sure why she let a comment Grayson (MMC) made as a stupid 17 year old impact her however many years later. I get that the tabloids posted mean things...but that's what tabloids do. Why let that keep you from acting ever again? Plus, she has now proven her worth as a screenwriter. She just came off as extremely whiney and needy.
Third act conflicts are a thing that you will never truly escape in a romance novel - it just isn't going to happen. I've accepted that, but this third act conflict was ridiculous. My opinion of Emmy was only further cemented by her reaction to the snippet of conversation she overheard, and her subsequent behavior for the weeks after.
We can't leave out our MMC - Grayson - who was a bit spineless at times. It seems like the author was trying to make him more endearing by making him lack self-confidence and thinking he wasn't great, but all it did was get on my nerves. There's no way you're in as many big name movies as you supposedly were to then let a reporter walk all over you. I'm not buying it.
The only real, even slightly, redeeming character was Emmy's best friend, Liz, who gave her tough love on more than one occasion. And I say good on her!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Good chemistry and a tight plot made this a nice read on a Sunday. Thanks, Netgalley for the opportunity to find and read a new to me author.

just finished the sample excerpt of this and i really liked it! even with just reading the first chapter it had me hooked and curious! definitely looking forward to reading this whole book! 🎬🎥🤍🎞️

I received an ARC from Netgalley. All thoughts are my own.
After loving Just My Type SO MUCH I had high hopes for this one. I just couldn't get into it. I dunno. Maybe I wasn't the target audience. Maybe it just isn't for me. I found myself forcing myself to read to finish it. I didn't really want the love interests to get together, and I didn't feel like they had a lot of chemistry.

Cute story. I hadn't read anything from this author before, I liked the premise of the story. It flowed well and I liked the characters. I'll read more from them in the future.

Emmy is the queen of writing romcoms until her father passed and she couldn't ever imagine writing a happily ever after again. But finally ready to jump back into the world of romance, she's written a script that she's proud of. The only problem? She can't find a leading woman. When her producers tell her she needs to cast anyone, she also takes the dip back into the acting world too.
When Emmy arrives on set, she quickly finds out that her leading man is not who they originally hired. With an accident that would set them back even more time, the producers are forced to go with another option: Grayson West, who is hot and charming and always casted in action movies. He's stuck up, one dimensional and worst... he hurt Emmy's feelings back when they were casted in their first movie together.
With Emmy and Grayson together again, it starts off rocky with Grayson nailing every scene but the ones he has with her. Deciding sleeping together can fix their chemistry, Emmy and Grayson must start to decipher what's real and what's on script.
This was probably my favorite Falon Ballard novel. She did a great job with this one and I really loved all the ups and downs included in this. After her last two, I think it's been leading up to more romance. Lease on Love felt more focused on the heroine's journey which I didn't mind but wanted more romance. Just My Type had a little of both but this one seemed a little more focused on romance and I think she really hit a sweet spot with it. I adore a second chance novel and I think the premise with Emmy and Grayson was interesting and a great story with who they are as people and where they both could go. I felt they weren't all that they seemed to be and I loved reading them together on the pages.
4 stars!

I really liked this rom-com. Loved the characters were relatable and the storyline was great. Alot.of good humor
