Less bodies than before but just as much action. I really enjoyed the change of scenery with this book from books prior. Vero and Finlay are up to the same antics with a few extra family members mixed in. I mean who wouldn’t want to spend a night out on the town with their mom! Haha. If you are a fan of the series this fits right in.

How can this series continue to keep getting better?! A road trip to Atlantic City for a girls weekend, let's go! The journey continues with Finlay's sidekick, children, Finlay's mom, and her ex-husband in tow. There's dead bodies, kidnapping, crooked cops, Russian mobsters, loan sharks, diapers, a lost dog, and a stolen car full of bullet holes. It's a fun escape filled with so much luck, chaos and lots of action. Each book in this series is so unique and entertaining. I hope they keep coming!

"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is a fantastic addition to the series, filled with laugh-out-loud moments, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and a touch of heart. Cosimano's knack for blending genres shines through, making this book a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries and thrillers alike. As Finlay juggles her chaotic life, readers will find themselves rooting for her every step of the way, hoping she can outsmart her enemies and find a way to come clean—if she can survive Atlantic City’s madness first.
Cosimano expertly weaves humor into tense situations, ensuring that even as Finlay faces potential disaster, readers can’t help but chuckle at her misfortunes. The pacing is brisk, with each chapter ending on a note that compels you to keep reading, eager to see how Finlay will navigate her way out of trouble.
The characters are a standout element; Finlay's struggle to manage her ex-husband, her children, and her mother’s marital issues adds depth to her character, making her relatable amidst the chaos. Vero serves as a perfect counterbalance with her unwavering loyalty and sharp wit, making their partnership a delight to follow. The introduction of hot cop Nick adds a romantic subplot that further complicates Finlay's already hectic life, providing readers with not just suspense but also some steamy moments.

Another fun ride with Finlay and Vero! This time the pair are in Atlantic City and what was supposed to be a “girls trip” turns into a family trip including Finlay’s mother, ex husband and 2 young children.
This series is so fun and entertaining! I seriously laughed throughout reading. I love the twists and turns.

I got this as free copy from Net Galley to review.
I'm obviously 4 books into this series but sometimes I'm not sure why I'm still reading these. They're not bad but I'm not sure they're for me. I do love the characters. Finlay and Vero are so fun and their friendship is incredible.
But what I don't like is the crime/ dead bodies aspect of the series. There are VIVID descriptions of dead bodies and it's just not what I want from my silly girlfriends crime black comedy, you know?
Also, there were somethings that really bothered me in this one. Like Nick really drove me crazy with the babysitting. He comes off as so controlling in this one and if I were Finlay that would have been a huge turn off.
Finlay also seems like a horrible mom in this one. I get the aspect that it's Steven's turn to parent but she was originally just going to take the kids with her and Vero only and then... do what??? She's gone so much of the story and barely even cares that her kids are ok. Sure, it's good that Steven needs to be a dad too but as a mom, I can't imagine not even checking in if the kids are ok.
Lastly, no one ever eats or sleeps in this book. Literally I think there is one point where Finlay goes at least 3 days without sleeping (and this is coming immediately after book 3 which had a lot going on). She has 1 day where she has two breakfasts but after that she's always using a meal as an excuse to duck out. I know this isn't supposed to be realistic but that's all a huge stretch.

I really enjoyed this one. It was hard to put down. It kept me wanting more. The characters are amazing! And I love the title and the story line. Such an amazing book!

What else can Finlay and her crew get into?! I was tired FOR her and Vero this whole book! Loved the action and personal stories in here.

Finlay Donovan books just hit. They’re so good. I loved watching Finlay mature in this one. She owned her place in the mob and stopped apologizing for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. She solved her own problems and got in front of issues this time.
Steven grew as a co-parent and a better partner to Finlay. His guilt is palpable and I wonder when it will run out. Finlay and Nick’s relationship took a step back in Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice and I really feel okay about it. Like Finlay, I don’t believe this story has to have a happily ever after. I enjoy Finlay’s character development and watching her succeed as a successful single mom. I don’t need her to have a love interest and I’m tired of Vero and Sylvia forcing it on her.
Now that the mob storyline is tied up, I’m curious to see what trouble Finn will get herself into next.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for making this possible.

I am so addicted to this series! Honestly ! This is the next in the series that I’ve read since receiving this set of ARCs from Netgalley, St. Martins Press and Elle Cosimano. So thank you ! I just keep reading one after another…, is this Finlay Donovan ever doing to finish her book !? This girl leads a pretty complicated but exciting life, both real and in her story telling…she’s making me lose sleep ! So thanks to you all for that ..lol a continuous 4 stares cause I’m still reading the series, but I’m betting this girl gets in more trouble to warrant a 5 star review down the road…

Finlay Donovan is back- this time on a road trip to Atlanta with her sidekick Vero, her ex-husband, her kids, and her mother. I'm not a huge fan of "casino" books, but read this one anyways because I am a fan of Finlay. Each of these books seem more and more ridiculous, and I think the series may be a little played out. Hopefully some of the things will be resolved in the next book and Finlay can kind a neat ending. Still a great read if you are in the mood for something quirky, fast-paced, and funny.

I have binged this whole series in the past month or so and I am greatly enjoying it. That being said this one took longer for me to get into than the others. I still liked it, and the ending definitely hit the right notes for me, but the first half of the book just didn’t catch me the same. I think maybe it had something to do with there being so much Steven (I really despise him, and I don’t love where things with him go, but it could have been far worse. This book has definitely shifted more towards the romance although there is still plenty of accidentally stumbled upon bodies, humor, and the mob for Finlay and Vero to try to navigate. The whole group including our friends with the police take a trip to Atlantic City and of course hilarious chaos ensues. Overall I gave this one 3.5 stars that I rounded up because the humor of the book is still excellent and the resolution at the end was great. I can’t wait for the next book.

Really good book - easy to read, quick paced, intriguing.
Finley makes me roll my eyes at times, as do the situations she gets into, but these books are so fun and entertaining! It’s a nice break from some heavier stuff
Overall
3.75 ⭐️/B

Oh my goodness, the crazy chaos in Book 4 of this beloved series continues the unrelenting fun and good humor as Finlay pursues her next nutty adventure. Cozy mystery fans will adore it!

I mean, whyyyyyyyy am I so late to the FInlay Donovan game????? How did I miss this when it first came out?
This review is going to be for the entire series which I now love, and I'm pretty much kicking myself for not getting on the bandwagon sooner.
If you are looking for a FMC to get behind, to rally under, to cheer for... Finlay Donovan is your girl. I loved meeting her for the first time and going along her adventures. My favorite among the series is still the first book, but after going through a lot of "let-down sequels", I'm happily devoured these books. Perfect for someone who's kinda new to the genre. Love, love, love!

I am obsessed with this series. The latest installment - Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice - has the same heart and humor juxtaposed with cozy mystery that draws people to come back to Elle Cosimano time and time again.

“Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice” is the fourth book in the series. As the action continues where it ended in the previous book, this cannot be read as a standalone.
Thank you St. Martin’s Press / Minotaur Books for the review copy of the book (via Netgalley).
Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Vero and Finlay need to go to Atlantic City to save Javi. Somehow they end up in this road trip with the kids, Finlay’s mom and the worst ex-husband/dad aka Steven.
In the previous books, Finlay and Vero got out from many incredible situations, but it seems in this book it’s even more ridiculous. What I did not like is that with many adults around Finlay’s kids manage to get out of the room and almost get lost in a hotel. They seem an inconvenience.
Detective Nick also shows up in Atlantic City. They have a few sweet scenes but I think that I would rather read Finlay’s books. From what she describes there is more romance there. Also, I cannot stand the ex-husband.
I liked that we finally find out about Vero and Javi’s past and the reason for their breakup. I am more invested in their relationship than in Finlay and Nick’s.
Overall this was fast paced, with many twists and a lot of humor. It is just unbelievable how they always get in most ridiculous situations and never get caught, with a sister and boyfriend as cops.
Still I will be reading the next book as the ending got me interested.

Book four and Finlay's still got it. Another fun, witty, and a little chaotic adventure for Finlay and Vero as they embark on a girls' trip to Atlantic City to rescue Javi. Finlay's family crashes their little adventure which adds to the fun as they try to find Javi without drawing too much attention to their shenanigans.
While this book still kept the fun and banter that was present in the first three, it does feel like things were getting a bit chaotic and slightly confusing between the story twists and the plethora of characters. There was so much happening yet I'm not sure how it all really played into the greater story. It looks like they may return home for the next novel and maybe have things flow a bit smoother.

Finlay Donovan doesn't go to Vegas - her style is more Atlantic City, and boy oh boy does she paint the town red. This is another hilarious set of hijinks as Finlay and Vero try to extricate themselves from the Russian mob, and the AC loan sharks. And to stay one step ahead of the police.
I'll never look at ordering room service the same way after this book.

These books are so fun! I love the team of Finlay and vero and hope their adventures continue! This was my favorite yet. Thansk to netgalley and the publisher

This is a great addition to the series. Following Finlay and Vero through Atlantic City made for an exciting and interesting setting, in which all the shenanigans play out.
I’ve read all the books in this series and am looking forward to whatever is next!
