Girls trip! Hitch a ride to Atlantic City with Finlay and Vero- there's plenty of room in the minivan. This is the fourth installment in a series, which picks up right after book #3, and is best read as a series and in order.

The Finlay Donovan series is a quirky, fast-paced, and over-the-top read. Fans of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series might enjoy this series as well.

I continue to absolutely adore the Finlay Donovan series! Elle Cosimano has created such a winning combination of mystery, thrills, friendship, and romance, all wrapped up in a brilliantly written package. One of the joys of a series like this is how deeply connected I feel to the characters. Spending time with Finlay, Vero, and the rest of the cast across these books has made them feel like old friends.

That said, I didn’t love this installment as much as the previous three. Finlay and Vero spend a significant portion of the story apart, and I found myself missing their dynamic, which is one of the strongest elements of the series. Still, the plot kept me hooked, the humor and suspense were spot on, and it was another great read overall.

I’m already looking forward to the next book and seeing what’s in store for Finlay and company!

Thank you to Elle Cosimano, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Now THIS one is my favorite in the series, taking over the top position from book 3. This one is SO fun and yet again we get a new setting, this time the family is off to Atlantic City for mystery solving antics.

As always, you'll have to suspend your disbelief in a lot of parts of this. But Finlay and Vero (and others) are up to their usual shenanigans and sleuthing. The ladies need to head to Atlantic City but turns out everyone and their mother (literally!) want to tag along. So Finlay, Vero, the kids, Steven and Finlay's Mom all pack up in the SUV and head up together. The road trip was half the fun, lol but when they make it there it's all about solving this mystery quickly for Finlay and Vero. And then others show up.... this turns into a real hoot real fast. There was SO much laughing throughout this one.

TECHNICALLY the books in this series don't need to be read in order but for the full experience and maximum enjoyment do yourself a favor and grab the earlier books before jumping into Book 4.

Finlay and Vero start off on a girls’ trip to Jersey. But somehow Finlay’s mom, ex, and kids join them. Vero is hoping to remove her loan shark from her problems, Finlay’s going to help and the rest are in it for the ride. Somehow the hot cop Nick, Finlay’s sister, and others show up to the same dumpy hotel. The police are chasing down the head of the Russian mafia. This is another boisterous, crazy, episode in the life of the loveable duo. #netgalley

I received this book for review by NetGalley.

I feel like this one was action-packed!! So much to keep up with...

Finlay & Vero are still trying to track down Javi and a stolen car. But somehow they end up on a family trip to Atlantic City PLUS an ex-husband, who refuses to be left behind. Just as FInlay & Vero think their plan is coming together and they are finally starting to get somewhere with Marco, the kidnapper. They find him dead in the hotel room and now they must also distract Finlay's BF Nick and his cop friends from the body.

I don't know how those 2 get themselves in half of the trouble they do, or out of it!!

This Finlay Donovan installment is better than the last one. Another light, at times silly, mystery that Finlay and her friend stumble into. It's ok. Again, you have to read these books in order.

Finlay Donovan is still killin’ it in this series. It’s great to have all of the series to read one after the other. I’ve been enjoying all the fun!

Thanks so much!

I wasn't so sure on this one after not liking 2 or 3 as much but I have a hard time not finishing a series ;)

The road trip element was super fun! The characters and plot felt less rushed and better developed, leading to a smoother and more engaging story. I'm so happy I kept going with the series!

I downloaded this title during the 24 Read Now promotion. I had started this book earlier in the year but life had other plans before I could sit and finish.

While I wasn't sure I liked the direction the series was heading after book three, I loved Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! I loved the banter between the characters and enjoyed getting more of Javi and Vero and Finlay and Nick and Sam and Georgia. This story had all the fun and chaos I needed after a rough reading year. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth book in the delightful Finlay Donovan cozy mystery series by Elle Cosimano.

This series continues to be a win for me in terms of reading enjoyment. I can always count on Finlay books to be full of hijinks and a variety of fun plot hooks.

In this installment, Finlay and Vero travel to Atlantic City under the guise of a girl's weekend, but in actuality they need to sort out a few issues to get Russian mob and a loan shark off their tails. As per usual, their plan fails and in the end the whole family--and then some--end up joining the two of them on the trip.

I'm very excited for the next book in the series, in which we get to learn a lot more about her busybody neighbor, Mrs. Haggerty!

I received an e-arc of this book through Netgalley because the newest book in the series #5 is coming out in 2025. I am really loving this series. There is a lot of action which makes it hard to put the book down. I had my alarm set to make dinner early yesterday, but after reading an extra 40 minute, I very reluctantly put the book down to make dinner. I wish all books had an audiobook feature so you could switch back and forth as needed. Anyway, love this book and the series. Do start with Book #1 and read them all.

After three books I thought the story line would be ho-hum, more of the same. Not! Full of laughter and lots of action, I have to say this book was just great. I have two words for you, Kevin Bacon! Absolutely loved it. Would definitely recommend this series. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

Finlay Donovan's story continues in this 4th book in the series and just when she thinks she is done with bending the law, more presents itself. The Russian mob boss breaks out of jail and puts her at risk which hot cop Nick is concerned. Vero is in trouble and Finlay wants to help her and Vero's boyfriend comes up missing after a loan shark from Atlantic City comes looking for Vero. And that's not the only think gone missing. The very expensive Aston Marin, the car that Finn was given by the mob boss is gone as well from Vero's cousin's tow yard. They were hoping to chop it up and sell for parts to settle Vero's debt to the loan shark. To top all that, there is another dead body to dispose of. For someone who is not an assassin, there sure are a lot of dead bodies showing up on Finlay's watch. Finn and Vero need to head to Atlantic City to find Javi, the car, and settle debts once and for all before they can move on. Oh, and yes, her rewrite for her book is due. to. As they head off though, Finn's ex-husband joins them, Finn's two kids, and her mother on this madcap adventure. In Atlantic City, more dead bodies show up followed by the hot cop and the FBI and a dirty cop who is on to Finlay. So many players, so many twists and turns and stories going in many directions. You might need a playbook for this one, but it is worth it to read such a fun adventure. Many thanks to #NetGalley, #finlaydonovanrollsthedice #ellecosimano #stmartinspress for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was just like all the other Finlay Donovan books that have come before: silly, far-fetched, and with a hint of romance.
The thing that gets me about this book is that almost the entire plot and all their trouble could have been avoided if they had just turned around and left the hotel room. And really, it was kind of like the hotel rooms were boxes that the author could put characters in to keep quiet for a while then open the door when she needed them.
I don’t know, am I getting tired of this series? It’s fun and I want to see how the overarching plot line is wrapped up, but there are so many coincidences that it’s starting to become less and less believable.

Another story in the Finlay Donovan series, and it was so. much. fun. I can always count on Elle Cosimano to deliver a fast-paced novel that really hooks!

Another fabulous Finlay Donovan installment! Finlay and Vero hit the road to Atlantic City for a girls weekend and EVERYONE comes along for the ride. Cue hilarity, dead bodies and family drama mixed with another great storyline that does not disappoint! I love how this series just keeps getting better! Elle Cosimano has a way of writing that has continuity without being repetitive. By book 4 in most series I am feeling like things are formulaic. Not with these books. I really can’t recommend them enough.

A huge thank you to Elle Cosimano, St Martin’s Press, and Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for a review copy in exchange for honest feedback!

I’ve read all of the Finlay Donovan books so far, and the first three are fairly similar in terms of plot, setting, and characters. This one shakes things up a bit, to keep the series from feeling stale, and I enjoyed it! It was fun to watch Finlay and Vero take their adventures on the road, and I liked seeing how Finlay’s mother and ex-husband changed the dynamics a little bit by taking on bigger roles in the story.

I’m still waiting to see Finlay come clean about everything to her police-officer boyfriend, Nick, and whether their relationship can survive the truth. And the cliffhanger ending has me excited for the next installment!

"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is another hilariously chaotic installment in the Finlay Donovan series that delivers all the thrills, laughs, and unexpected twists you could hope for. Finlay and Vero’s “girls’ weekend” to Atlantic City is anything but relaxing as they juggle kidnapping schemes, stolen cars, and a very dead loan shark. The stakes are high (literally, they’re in a casino), and the antics are as entertaining as ever. I loved catching up with Finlay, Vero, and the rest of the crew, and the plot twists kept me on my toes throughout.

What makes this series so special is how it perfectly balances zany humor with heartfelt moments and genuine suspense. Between Finlay’s family drama, her complicated romantic life, and the constant stream of life-threatening situations, there’s never a dull moment. The author consistently delivers a story that’s equal parts clever and ridiculous in the best way. By the end, I was already eager to see where Finlay’s wild adventures take her next! Fans of the series will not be disappointed.

Seriously, who doesn’t love this series?! It’s such a fun series. Do you suspend reality? Of course, but it’s so much fun along the way!

3.5 stars

At this point in the series, I have fallen in love with the dynamic of the characters and have enjoyed the confidence that Finley has developed. She knows what she wants and she will do almost anything to get it.
