As always, Finlay is a delight. I know when I open a Finlay book, I'm going to laugh. Not only do I laugh but I get a really solid mystery. Finlay always has too much on her plate and she always handles it with humor and competence. As a series, Cosimano does an excellent job of keeping up updated on our favorite characters while still introducing us to new ones. I love this series.

It's another fun installment of the Finlay Donovan series. I love all the characters in this series and the banter between them all is hilarious. You definitely need to go into these books knowing that although it's a mystery/thriller novel, they are also supposed to be funny. They always manage to make me laugh.

In "Rolls the Dice", Finlay and Vero take a road trip to Atlantic City, and (un)fortunately all the sub-players in the series tag along.... Finaly's ex-husband Steven and their 2 rambunctious kids, plus Finlay's mother. Then more show up in this whirlwind adventure and of course chaos ensues. Dead bodies, mob bosses, and more.

An entertaining book for sure. Grab the popcorn and enjoy the ride!

I am sure I have said this before about the Finlay Donovan books by Elle Cosimano, but why oh why are they not made into films! They would be so good and they have it all, action, romance, mystery, murder and of course the books are hilarious with wonderful relatable characters.
This book is quick paced but also with a great plot and the way the characters intertwine works so well and it is all tied up at the end (almost).
I can’t wait for the next one!

Finlay and Vero are at it again- these two best friends find themselves in the worst situations. The first half was a tad slower than the other 3 books, but Cosimano is sure to have you laughing out loud! I’m usually not one to love endings like this one had, but I am happy to know we will get more of Finaly and Vero soon!

For future reference though, the kids should have been taken for a walk or something rather than literally stuck in a hotel room for days!

Thank you Netgalley, Elle Cosimano, and Minotaur Books for an eARC of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice in exchange for my honest review!

IT WAS GOOD.

That’s how I generally feel every time I finish a Finlay book. Yes, I had a good time, but it’s also still missing something. Maybe better romantic development? I think I’m still getting hung up on the deliberate lying.

But this was fun. I liked the change of location and the way this was laid out. I loved seeing things all come together for the final showdown. There was a lot of good humor and enjoyment and I did like many of the Finlay moments we got. The complicated situations really went haywire here and I will say I was actually surprised by one big turning point.

An amusing installment, but kind of wondering where it’s going to go from here? What’s the end game? Will the things I’m looking for finally happen? I don’t know, this is where I start to struggle with cozy-type mystery series like this.

Overall audience notes:

Mystery
Language: low
Romance: fade to black
Violence: moderate-high
Trigger/Content Warnings: gun violence, murder, kidnapping

Another thrilling and hilarious mystery novel by Elle Cosimano! This book is like the rest of the series, in the way it keeps you guessing but has you laughing out loud at the same time. I really enjoyed the setting change in this one - it kept things fresh and interesting. I thought some of the plot points were a tad predictable, but I still had a blast figuring it out!

Highly suggest reading this if you’re looking for a fast-paced and funny mystery book! You’ll especially enjoy it if you’ve read the rest of the series.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books and Elle Cosimano for the eARC!

I am really enjoying the Finley Donovan series. Finn and Vero’s adventures never disappoint and I can’t wait to see what trouble they get into next.

Findlay Donovan Rolls the Dice takes Finn, Vero her ever present babysitter, sidekick, best friend, her PITA ex husband, her mom and her kids out of Virginia and into the seedy streets of Atlantic City. They are looking for someone close to Vero who may have been kidnapped by the mob over Vero’s gambling debts. This is the fourth in a series but enough details have been explained that it can be a stand alone. The story is fast paced and fun, with regular secondary characters returning and of course, a cliff hanger ending. If you’re looking for a light fun mystery similar to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, you’ll love this!

I love the Finlay Donovan series!! I re-read all of the books in the series before diving into this arc, and it was really fun to go through all of them like that. This was a super fun addition in Atlantic City, and I'm dying for the next one for the cliffhanger. You can't go wrong with Finlay and Vero! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin;s Press for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Finlay and Vero are at it again! They are seriously one of my favorite duos! This time they are headed to a girls weekend and naturally needing to strike a deal with a loan shark. No big deal right? In addition, they have to save Vero’s childhood crush Javi. It should be a weekend getaway but Finlay can’t seem to shake her ex or her mother. It’s one big happy family excursion! 😆

They realize very quickly it won’t be easy getting Javi back as the kidnapper demands money in exchange for his life. Finlay and Vero plot a different idea to steal Javi and the stolen car back. They think the plan is perfect however they get close to the kidnapper they find someone has already killed him. Now it’s a race against time to find out who killed him, how do they not take the blame for his murder, find the stolen car and Javi all while dealing with her mother’s shenanigans, dead bodies and her children. I don’t know about you but I’m exhausted just typing it! 🤣

Finlay and Vero are seriously always so funny in their banter, ideas and general ways they make me chuckle the whole way through the book. This series is a light hearted funny mystery that I keep coming back for and am never disappointed! I always appreciate the side splitting humor that these characters seem to always bring to light. I think what I love most is it seems like they are always in the most impossibly unfortunate situations and always come out with ridiculous resolutions that make me chuckle. I loved this riotous romp through Atlantic City and can’t wait to see what Finlay does next!

I had a hard time figuring out what is going on for the first 3rd of the book, as it apparently continues directly from the previous book. You definitely need to read the previous books first, and in order. Once I figured out what was happening I enjoyed it. It is chaotic with a lot happening and a lot of hiding different things from different people. It says at the end that everything is resolved on the main characters end, but it still leaves Vero hanging in regards to the stolen money from her sorority and it definitely ends with Nick hanging. #FinlayDonovanRollstheDice. #NetGalley.

I love Finlay books and i cannot get enough - another winner for me! I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it early and will definitely be recommending it to multiple people who enjoy these types of novels. I enjoyed the characters and especially enjoyed the writing by this author. I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next as I'll definitely be reading it! Thank you to the publisher for my early copy of this book!

This 3rd installment in the Finlay Donovan series did not disappoint. In this book we are on a road trip with Finlay and Vero as they head to Atlantic City to track down Vero's friend Javi and the missing Aston from book 2. But Finlay's mom, her ex-husband Steven and the kids tag along leaving Finlay and Vero to figure out how to do their investigating without their extra guests knowing. And to make the story even more exciting, Finlay's sister Georgia shows up with half of the police department including Nick, Finlay's hot cop romantic interest. This book has it all...dead bodies, the Russian mob, computer hacking, stolen cars, kidnapping, and more laughs than should be legal. If you are looking for believable, true crime this is not the book for you. But if you want a light hearted fun read that will keep you guessing as well as keep you laughing, you have found your book. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC copy!

Another fun, fast-paced, romp starring Finlay and Vero. This time the entire family is in tow and they're picking up right where the last book left off. I read this book in record time. The writing is funny and kept me turning the pages and Finlay and Vero got into scrape after scrape and then got themselves out of it. Highly recommend this entire series to mystery lovers who enjoy a side order of hilarity.

I just love Finlay Donovan and the crazy messes she & her family find themselves in. This book starts right where “jumps the gun” leaves off. Finlay & Vero think they have a plan to save Javi, make back the debt $ and clear their names. Of course mayhem ensues but Finlay’s caring & honest nature help them to come out on top.

This book picks up right where the 3rd book left off. Finlay, Vero, Finlay’s kids, Steven and her mom go on a Road trip to Atlantic City. Nick and Georgia show up not long after an anonymous tip about the Russian mob comes in.

Nick is trying to keep everyone safe while also following a lead. Finlay and Vero are trying to find Javi and the missing car at the same time.

The anxiety that I had reading this book. 🤣 The two of them tampering with a crime scene was insane! Finlay Donovan rolls the dice was a very lighthearted mystery just like the rest of this series. I enjoyed it, but was frustrated at the characters at times.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I just love Finlay and this one did not disappoint.

Vero and Finlay are back at it. There are all the ridiculous antics, bad decisions, and (almost) slapstick hilarity you'd expect.

Our hot cop is back and Steven is just as awful as always. What could go wrong when the four of them plus Finlay's mother, sister, and a few of their police and FBI friends end up in Atlantic City. Of course the story Vero and Finlay are telling is that this is a much needed girl's trip away but in reality they are trying to hunt down a stolen car, rescue Javi (Vero's "guy") and negotiate with a loan shark. Obviously. And it wouldn't be Finlay if there wasn't a murder or two thrown in for fun.

The banter is top notch, the story flows well, the hijinks are predictably over the top (as one expects from this series) and the plot carries on well from the previous books. At one point, I thought the series was being wrapped up but then I read the last chapter and, phew, we're safe. More books to come.

There is more to come, right?

It is really hard to write a spoiler-free review for this book as I just want to reference the previous 3 books.Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a continuation of the first three books. In addition to the ones above, this book brings back many of the other surviving characters: Cameron, the teen hacker; Georgia, Finlay’s sister; Georgia’s FBI girlfriend Sam; Joey and Charlie, Nick’s current and former partners; Russian mobster Feliks Zhirov and his right-hand woman Ekatarina Rybakov. And the novel ends on a cliffhanger that guarantees that the next book will tell the next part of the story—apparently involving Finlay’s nosy neighbor Mrs. Haggerty.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars

I love this series and adore these characters! This book picks up where book 3 left off, with action and adventures. For a quick refresher, Javi was kidnapped, the Aston Martin was stolen, and Finlay and Vero have a ransom note. That calls for a road trip! Unfortunately for Finn and Vero, it’s a road trip with the whole fam, causing even more chaos and hilarity to ensue.

As with all the books in the series, jump into this one suspending disbelief. The situations Finn and Vero get themselves into are ridiculously over the top, and for me, that’s part of the fun. The banter between them as they’re trying to solve their problems always has me cackling. I love most of the characters in this series, they’re well developed, realistic, and relatable.

Now that we’ve had so much time with character development and growth, this book focuses more on the plot and crazy situations they find themselves in. Vero gets larger parts and I’m all for it. I love Vero! Some loose ends are tied up in this book, yet it does end a bit of a cliffhanger, leaving me hoping for a book 5.

This is a series I think I like better as Audiobooks. The narrator, Angela Dawe, adds even more personality to the characters and crazy scenes.

If you’re a fan of books that are full of comedy, hijinks, and outlandish crimes and adventures, I recommend checking this series out. It reminds me a lot of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, except I like these characters more.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
By Elle Cosimano

Thank you St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, Netgalley and Elle Cosimano for early e-book access. I adore the Finlay Donovan Series! Get this book on pub day - March 5th! ❤️

This is the fourth book in the Finlay Donavan Series. Yes, you absolutely need to read them in order. They are so so good! I actually recommend the audiobooks more, because the narration for Finlay and Vero is spot on.

“The hell I can’t! My wife is in there!”

Without giving away too many spoilers, book 3 ends with Finlay and Vero making plans to rescue Vero’s crush, Javi, who has been kidnapped and taken to Atlantic City. Somehow in book 4, Finlay’s kids, her mom, and her ex husband end up going on this adventure.

The shenanigans are off the chart. I love that this book is the “Boss Babe Era” of the series! All the women shined, and I giggled so much.

I did rate this a 4.5 star instead of 5, because it seemed to drag on more than her other books and way too much happened within a couple of days to be realistic. Other aspects of the books were super unrealistic, but the book was still spectacular. Finlay and Vero’s characters were just as likeable as in the other books in the series, but this book brought some of the supporting characters to life, which I loved. Finlay and Vero are my favorite fictional best friend duo. And their love interests were hot! Phew!
