Overall I liked the premise of the story! It’s a bit unique, at least to me, compared to other magic realism/time travel books. Iza was hard to love. The relationship she has with her mother is so bizarre and extremely frustrating. I know the wish aspect and Beckett’s situation made things difficult to figure out but their manipulation of each other was also frustrating. Just a little too much for me. It was a like, not a love!

I think that every girl (and some guys) grow up having their ideal partner in their mind, and often times it is based on a movie or book character. That’s why I LOVED this book so much! You get to see what would happen if you got your dream man! Every time that I thought I knew where this story was going, it changed, so I truly appreciated that!

Aladdin meets Pride and Prejudice. Iza long dreams of finding her Mr. Right, aka a real-life Mr. Darcy, to meet her standards. When magical wish-granter Beckett is conjured from a sparkly bottle of nail polish, her first wish brings a modern Mr. Darcy to life. Navigating how to grant her next 2 wishes while using Pride & Prejudice as her guide, she sets out for her own epic love story. But as she gets to know him more, is Mr. Darcy really the man of her dreams…or is it the man whose current existence is to grant her wishes and keep her safe?
This is a fun, quick read from Shannon Bright, perfect for the era of modern dating and dreaming. Kim Churchill brought the audiobook to life!

This story had the recipe for perfection (and such a cute cover!) but sadly failed to hit the mark.

The blurb had everything: a wish-granting rapscallion, an Austen twist, and a rom-com premise that felt both comfortingly familiar and surprisingly fresh. I had no issues with the writing, appreciated the audiobook narrator, and actually really enjoyed some of the emotional scenes in the latter half. That said, the plot unfortunately felt too packed for anything in the story to get the time it deserved to develop, including the main romance/s.

I get what the author was trying to do with the whole modern Darcy storyline, but I think that’s part of the problem. It felt too predictable straight out of the gate. In addition, the scenes that included him felt…stale? His plotline was meant to be the main hook, but he was giving nothing to his scenes (which is fine if his character is meant to be a piece of cardboard, but for the reader to buy that our main character is oh-so-obsessed with this man, surely we need to witness at least some redeeming qualities? Or at least something to keep us entertained?)

There were so many times characters made ridiculous, unbelievable choices that resulted in absurd things happening (spoiler warning, but HOW does someone both let a lion wake up early and let unauthorised people in the same room as it?) and it took me out of the moment. The story itself dragged on, and made the climax feel flat, with a bit of rushed character development at the very end? On that note, Beckett’s character felt all over the place and I could never quite pin down his personality, but there’s little more I can say about that without spoiling.

I wish (ha) that I could have enjoyed this book more, and while it’s by no means a *bad* book, and I can respect the author’s attempt at a classic cheesy rom-com, it’s probably not one I’ll be reading again.

Every Wish Way is a charming, modern take on a classic romance. Unlucky in love, Iza is on a mission to find the perfect husband - a partner who meets her mom’s impossible standards, and fits into her busy, working woman lifestyle. When a frat boy genie appears and offers her anything her heart desires, Iza uses her tried and true copy of Pride & Prejudice as a dating handbook on her quest for love.
The perfect balance of sweet, heartfelt, and funny, Every Wish Way is the perfect read for any true romance lover.

This is a cute romcom about a 20 something named Iza longs for the perfect relationship. Part of it is for her and the other part is to prove to her mother that she can be a successful architect and be a wife and mother. She ends up unleashing her very own genie from an old bottle of glittery nail polish. Can Iza use her wishes to finally get the perfect man?

I definitely liked Beckett way more than Iza. Her obsession and time wasted on trying to find true love was obnoxious. Beckett was the perfect tortured character with his own troubles and heartache. I wish this book had more magic and scenes with just the two of them but like I said she wasted a lot of time looking or wishing for Mr. Right. Some of the chapters and storyline could have been shorter and I think this book would have hit harder if that were the case. There's a parallel universe/time travel aspect towards the end of the book that got very confusing for me.

Overall this is cute with a few parts that will have you chuckling.

I was very intrigued by the premise of this book, as I was in the mood for some light fantasy and am a big fan of Pride and Prejudice. However, I was ultimately disappointed by both the author's understanding of Jane Austen's characters and the frankly juvenile behavior of the main character. There are a lot of plot points introduced that seemingly lead to nothing, while the main arc in the book is the main character's determination to prove her mother wrong about all men being terrible. I just absolutely couldn't get on board with the main character's wacky motivations, lack of appreciation of her best friend, and annoying way of reading euphemisms into everything. The audiobook was fine, but Kim Churchill's narration didn't particularly do anything to make me like the main character more and listening to it sometimes made it difficult to understand where one scene ended and another started because it wasn't always clear from the wording.

As a lover of witchy/magical rom come, I was excited to be approved for Shannon Bright's debut wishy novel. Then I got nervous when I realized it was set in my hometown, St. Louis, as I feel that authors seem to represent all Midwest towns the same unless it's also their hometown. I'm not sure where Ms. Bright is from, but she made this St. Louisan proud. :)

Every Wish Way is the story of a woman (Iza, short for Eliza) who has the career but wants love. Her mother doesn't think it's possible to have both, and Iza is bound and determined to prove her mom wrong. With the assistance of her best friend Lola and her cute genie/wishmaster Beckett who comes to her via nail polish bottle rather than a lamp, Iza tries to figure out how to use 3 wishes to find true love. If she can make a modernized Mr. Darcy (arguably one of the best romantic leads in literary history according to Iza) real, certainly she can find love, right? Or, perhaps, the man she thinks of as her Wickham is more than meets the eye.

I greatly enjoyed how this story played out, the layers of story, and the way it spoke to me as a lover of literature. The characters were lovable but flawed, which makes them relatable to a reader. My only real complaint is that the ending felt like a cockblock - the final scene ended right before our main couple finally consummated their relationship, to the point where I thought my earbuds had turned off somehow. One more chapter or perhaps an epilogue would have been much appreciated to have just a little more payoff after a full book of anticipation!

Every Wish Way was a decent read. A cute Pride and Prejudice inspired story. Not my favorite Austen retelling but it was okay.

This was an fun, lighthearted read! I enjoyed the taste of magic and different universes. I appreciated the growth in Iza’s character throughout the book, especially in her relationship with her mother. This is a great read for anyone who likes romance and magic.

Cute book! Loved the magical romance angle. There were a few times I was like…. girl really? I get that the MC was a romantic with a plan but it was a bit much when it came to Darcy. The ending tied together nicely and I did enjoy it. Thanks to Net Galley for the listen!

I had heard so many good things about this story so I feel like I had high expectations and it just did not reach those. It was a cute story, but I was not really into the magic part behind it, but that is just me. The characters, Isa and Beckett, were funny but Iza just seemed immature about wanting a husband and her expectations. I like Beckett a lot more. It was cute, but could have been better for me.

4.5 stars!

Iza wants to please her mom and land a good man, and one crazy evening she gets her chance, in the form of a wish granter named Beckett. It's like the movies "Aladdin" meets "Bedazzled." Beckett can grant Iza three wishes, and she opts to wish for her perfect man: Mr. Darcy. But does the 19th century hero translate well into today's society? As Iza and Beckett work together to figure out a way to create her happily ever after, the two of THEM start to see sparks flying. What happens is nothing less than MAGIC.

At first I thought this story was a formulaic, shallow rom-com with some magic thrown in. But as I moved through the story, I realized it was so much more. I was impressed by the sci-fi elements that were woven into the wishes, and found them easy to follow (most of the time, haha). The twist that occurs in the final act had me wanting to re-read the story from the beginning to look for clues. It was enthralling! (It reminded me of some of the elements used in the "Marvel" movies.)

The examination of Iza's relationship with her mom, and herself, was really stirring. I was pleased to see growth in practically every single character in the story. I was a bit surprised by the liberal use of curse words, but it didn't detract much from the story. (They sort of seemed unnecessary and out of place.) Overall, I was blown away by a story that felt so fresh while at the same time using touchstones we're so familiar with, such as characters from "Pride and Prejudice". (I'm not sure everyone will LOVE Darcy's portrayal in this book, but it made sense to me.) That said, I had a great time, and I can't wait to see what Shannon Bright cooks up next time!

Trigger warnings: alcohol poisoning (off page), person giving a minor drugs/alcohol (off page)

I'd like to thank Alcove Press and Netgalley for the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I really wanted to like Every Wish Way but it ultimately didn't live up to my expectations. This was a cute story overall but it felt slow and flat. I know this is a work of fiction but the wishes made by the main character just felt a little too odd. I also didn't like the main character's motivation to find love. Love to prove your parent wrong about men doesn't seem like the best reason. One of my biggest dislikes came from the author's portrayal of Mr. Darcy. As a fan of Pride and Prejudice I don't think he was done justice. Those factors aside, I did think this one had potential. I can really appreciate the effort the author put into making a light hearted romcom with a little magic sprinkled in.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this alc in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, wow, this book ended up being so much more than I was expecting. It's got all the beats you're looking for in a romance, but it also has complexities that elevated the whole story. If you, like me, enjoy characters that are a bit of a mess but ultimately good people, look no further. Iza has spent her whole life trying to impress her mother, at the expense of her happiness. Beckett, her genie in a (nail polish) bottle, is a party boy with an attitude. When she accidentally summons him and is given three wishes, she sees it as a chance to finally find love and also make her mother proud. Character development is what makes really makes this book shine, and the narration is a perfect fit for the story.

I'm giving this 4.5/5 stars. I wish we'd gotten a bit more time with Iza and her mom toward the end of the book, but that's definitely personal preference. I'd recommend this book to anyone that likes magical realism and/or quirky romances.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I am not a fan of Jane Austen; I’ve been trying to finish Pride and Prejudice since high school and can’t make myself pick it up. In fact, the only version of it I’ve been able to get through is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It’s just not my thing. But I loved this story. I thought it was fun and creative and exactly what I needed this last weekend. I loved the characters and the concept of getting exactly what you wish for. I loved that Iza was smart and savvy and just unlucky in love. This was so much fun and I highly recommend it as the perfect pick-me-up.

Every Wish Way was a really fun book to read/listen to! It follows Iza as she looks for love and the approval of her judgmental mother. But Iza isn’t the most open-minded person either. After a dinner with her mom goes awry, she ends up thinking about wishes (thank you, Carly Rae Jepsen!) and . . . in pops Beckett, a magical, wish-granting, frat-like man. Three wishes. A perfect way for Iza to meet the man of her dreams or entirely shake up the universe.

I loved Iza and Beckett’s character. They both showed a lot of growth and development, and it was all written out: actions followed by consequences followed by thoughtfulness from the characters. The romance was fun too, Iza was surrounded by many potential suitors (including a modern Mr. Darcy?) which kept me on my toes as a reader. She had so many different types of relationships from the one with her mother to her friends and colleagues, and they were all written out and given the time needed to carry her story arc.

No true negative notes, I just really like this one. The only reason I wouldn’t give it all the stars is due to personal tastes and maybe some awkward plot moments. It was fun, I didn’t take it too seriously. There were some really great, heart-warming scenes. I think if anyone needs a good pick-me-up read, this is one book that will easily get the job done.

Shannon Bright’s newest gem, Every Wish Way is one of those books that feels like a fun beach read, but ends up bringing out So many emotions and ends up being able to hit so deep.

Iza starts off the book, thinking that she has life and all men figured out. I mean, she and her mom have both been burned by men and former partners, so the close-minded approach that Iza embraces makes some sort of sense.

And then, Iza rubs on her magic “lamp” and releases Beckett and an entire Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice in modern times thing.

Beckett is an instigator, but also a protector. He sets out the rules, and tells a bit of his backstory. Also, a refreshing change for Iza’s contact with men: Beckett cannot lie to her. Ever. Iza still Freaks out and immediately thinks that Beckett is a serial killer instead of a guide sent to help her out of her own self-imposed rut.

I will stop there (to avoid spoilers) and say that there is SO much character growth in this book, and it’s a lovely ending. You won’t want to sleep on this one!!!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this wonderful audio ARC!! It really did give me all of the feels!!

I really liked ‘Every Wish Way’ by Shannon Bright, a fun and original combo of ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ I read this in one day, and found myself between outraged (wait till you meet some of the characters and you’ll know what I mean), laughing, and breathless (the leads had some steamy slow-burn chemistry when they were allowed get close) the whole time.

There were a few spots I felt, unfortunately, lacking in the development of the relationship between the leads, and the ending was so abrupt I was convinced part of the audiobook was missing. I was so confused and kept going back and replaying to see if I missed something. 😂 But nope, it just cut right off, leaving the story in a good place, sure, but also an unfinished one.

Overall, though, ‘Every Wish away’ was a super light, sometimes emotional, entertaining read and I do recommend it. The audiobook, performed by narrator Kim Churchill, really highlighted the best parts of the novel, bringing the witty banter, comedic moments, and lively characters vivaciously to life, making the story all the more enjoyable.
