This is not a bad book. It really isn't. It IS odd, however, that this book should be marketed as YA when its themes and motifs of body modification, political and sexual manipulation, and ownership of the body are so, so mature. The casualness with which this book throws about scenes of rape and sexual fantasies and objectification baffles even me.

I really wanted to like The Kingdom of Little Wounds, a young nurse and seamstress who finds herself in an epic power struggle, yes please. And the cover, I love it.
But unfortunately I couldn’t get into this book.This book was extremely confusing and weird. The writing was dense and indigestible. I couldn’t distinguish between the two characters. I’ve tried to read it from the moment that I was granted it but it was a no go for me.

I had a hard time engaging with this book. It's quite dense and complicated. The narration was difficult to follow.

The writing style is elaborate, wordy, and over the top. It created a sense of narrative distance that made it difficult to focus on the text. On top of that, the characters are dramatic. DNFed.

Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.

Compelling story, loved the characters, didn't want it to end.

I am DNFing The Kingdom of Little Wounds. I attempted to get into this by listening to the audiobook. I made it to disc 3, but it is just so SLOW going. I am not here for that kind of pacing. Maybe I will try it again someday and borrow it from the library when I am feeling a bit more patient.

I didn't get a chance to read this before it expired on my nook. I'm sorry! I did buy the absolutely GORGEOUS hardcover and hope to read it someday. It's still in a pile on my nightstand!

This was terrible. I am not one for sensoring, but this novel was not geared toward the right audience in calling it a young adult novel. There is so much sex and abuse toward women that I had a hard time getting through this novel.. I was rather disgusted on multiple levels and cannot bring myself to recommend this.

I had a lot of trouble reading this story even though I enjoyed the description so much! Going back and forth between a first person and a third person narrative really through me off and kept me from full enjoying the novel.
