THIS BOOK WAS A WILD RIDE. This is the 6th book I have read from Freida McFadden, so I knew there would be plenty of twists and turns, but I was genuinely not prepared for the events of The Teacher. I decided to keep track of how many times my jaw dropped while reading, and I finished the novel with a whopping 17 jaw drops.
This book made me feel disgusted, enraged, stunned speechless, and made my skin crawl/gave me chills more times than I can count. Only Freida McFadden could write a book where I hate almost every single character and yet cannot put it down.
I will admit that it took me a little bit to get into the groove of the story (simply because the main themes/issues are repulsive and I was trying not to throw up) (iykyk) but once the twists started picking up, I was absolutely hooked and finished it in one sitting. Freida McFadden never misses!

3⭐️
This book you have your main characters: Eve, Nate and Addie. Eve and Nate are a married couple who also happen to be teachers at the same school. Addie is a student who was involved in an alleged student-teacher scandal. The book follows the 3 as they navigate secrets, betrayal and more.
This book fell a bit flat for me, however still kept me engaged and was a page turner for sure. The beginning of the book was at a medium pace but definitely picks up faster.
Frieda is the queen of plot twists and the ending for sure was one I was not expecting.
But there were some parts of the book that were really predictable. However, I do want to acknowledge that because I have read multiple of her books, I think I am used to her style of writing and can expect when something is coming.
The story line did make me a bit uncomfortable (which I assume is the whole point), but it is sad that situations like this happen in real life. I felt like some pieces of the book were dragged out and some pieces felt repetitive.
I am a big Frieda fan, but this one again fell flat for me. I think trigger warnings would be good at the begging so readers can now what they are getting themselves into.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

I feel like this story has been written so many times before, and teacher/student relationships give me a major ick. I thought there was going to be some twists and turns to bring me around to liking it but it was pretty predictable. It read like a season of Pretty Little Liars. I had such high expectations for this book because I like other Freida McFadden books, but this one was just not for me. I also felt like the description of the book was misleading.

Well, the queen of twists hits it out of the park again!
Thanks NetGalley & Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!
Brief synopsis -
Eve is a math teacher at Caseham high school, where her husband Nate, also teaches English. She is disconcerted to find the notorious Addie in her class, who is known to be troublesome, untrustworthy and a liar. Both Eve and Addie have secrets of their own that nobody needs to find out.
Review -
Alternating between Eve and Addie’s POV, the plot sucks us right into it. Freida knows just how to create intrigue and nail biting curiosity around the story she expertly weaves around her characters.
Setting her thrillers in various organizations such as a workplace/office (#TheCoworker) and now in a high school with #TheTeacher, McFadden seems to have done a lot of research to understand the inner workings of these places, the dynamics and all the elements at play in these institutions and she cleverly employs them all in her plot construction.
By mid-way there is enough tension about what next and how things would unfold, that you are sure to be bitten with the ‘just one more chapter’ bug, as you end up finishing the book even before you know.
Be ready for all the mean girl conspiracies, wicked manipulations, juicy revenge tactics, cruel mind games, unbelievable twists and turns that are sure to come your way towards the end!
That said, you would really derive the whole satisfaction only if you are willing to suspend your disbelief to some extent. This is the case with so many thrillers right?
So if you are a thriller fan, I would highly recommend you run towards the newest by Freida!

Another 5 star! Freida knocked this out of the park. The twists! The Turns! Poor Addie, an outcast after a scandal involving a student-teacher affair. As always, if you think you know, you probably don’t!
Please check trigger warnings on this one before you crack it open,

Freida, one of my favorite thriller authors of all time, who was responsible for getting me back into reading (even with a 1 AND 2 year old at home) has done it again! I requested this book on netgalley before I even read the synopsis because quite frankly, if Frieda writes it, I WILL read it! I have never been approved for a pre-released book that I have truly been so excited to read and I’m so thankful I was given the kindle early read for this book. Freida has a way of captivating her readers from the very first line and sinking her teeth in until you realize you’ve finished the book in one sitting!
There is just something ‘cozy’ about a Freida book and I know that’s weird to say about a thriller/suspense book but it’s true.
I won’t go into too much detail because I never want to spoil a wonderful thriller for perspective readers.
Eve and Nate are school teachers at the same school when they find their lives entangled with a SCANDAL involving a school student whose name is Abbie. I always enjoy freidas multi-perspective Writing. There are twist and turns and a reveal at the end that leaves you, of course, speechless.
Thank you to netgalley, poisoned pen press and Freida McFadden for sending me this ARC to read in exchange for my personal and honest review.

What can I say... from the prologue to the epilogue the mystery and twists of this book hooked me.
Freida is the queen of twists and turns! Just when I thought I had read ALL the twists The Teacher had to offer, Freida left me in shock with a gigantic twist at the end that I never saw coming.
Her twists and turns always get me! This book was absolutely wonderful!
The Teacher does involve a student teacher scandal/relationship. However, The Teacher is a psychological thriller which offers a nice reprieve so that the content isn't too heavy.
If you're looking for something that will leave with your eyeballs bugging out and your mouth hanging wide open at the end, this is the book for you!

3.5⭐️ This was my first Freida McFadden book and I don’t know how to feel! The first half was a lot of set up that was a little slow. I was expecting a bit more action for it being a thriller however, it really picked up and I read the second half in one sitting. The plot twists and the way McFadden meticulously set everything up for it all to come together at the end was really well done. I will definitely be picking up more from this author.

Frieda does it again! Thank you Net Galley and @poisenedpenpress for the ARC of this book. At first I found this book to be a bit slow going. That was short lived. The dynamics between all the major characters was amazing. This was a great read, thoroughly loved it! And the twists. Wow! Just. Wow!

This book grabs your attention literally from the first sentence and keeps it. It’s fast paced and relatable. She does include a note about sensitive material so I will add that here.
Dear Reader,
When I'm contemplating ideas for a thriller, I often think to myself:
What's the most horrible thing I can imagine happening?
After all, isn't that what draws us to read thrillers? To encounter our worst fears, knowing that the drama in the book is unfolding in someone else's lives?
As a mother of two, the most unthinkable tragedy to me would be something happening to my children. When they were babies, I worried about crib death. When they were a little older, I worried about them being snatched from the playground. And now that I have a teenager, I have completely different worries.
I've learned a lot about teenagers lately. They think they know everything.
They are ruled by their emotions. They can be easily manipulated by someone that they trust.
That was my inspiration in creating The Teacher. Addie is a troubled, vulnerable girl who gets taken advantage of by someone she admires and respects, and then things go way, way too far.
With all that in mind, if reading about an inappropriate relationship portrayed in a negative light-even a fictional one-will jeopardize your mental health in any way, I hope you will protect yourself and reconsider reading. I want to be sensitive to the fact that even thriller readers may have triggers.
Usually in these letters, at this point the author will say, "I hope you enjoy my book!" But I hope my book makes you ANGRY. I hope it makes you hurl your paperback/e-reader across the room (although I also hope it doesn't break in the collision). I hope you keep reading into the wee hours of the night because you are desperate to know how it all plays out... and find out if justice is served in the end.
Thank you so much for taking this journey with me.

The character development is very well done. In the past, I have thought that some of this authors books have lacked in character development. There is just enough here to keep you informed without slowing down the story.
This author never disappoints. The ending got me again. More importantly, the attention this book brings to a serious issue not be overlooked. This is not an easy read. There are issues with school bullying, inappropriate relationships, and domestic violence. However, they are very well written and not graphic in nature. Another great read by one of my favorite authors!

In this story, we follow Eve's story and Addie's story. Eve is a teacher at the local high school. She teaches math. Her husband, Nate, works at the same high school as an English teacher.
Addie is a student at the high school they teach at. Addie was at the center of a student-teacher affair last year.
Nobody knows the real Addie or the secrets that she keeps.
Two Words: THE EPILOGUE!!!
I became a big fan of Freida McFadden over the Summer. I binge read all of her books. I was very excited when I learned about this book coming out.
I screamed when I was approved for the Netgalley copy. I read the book in two days. It held my attention. I didn't want to put it down and the epilogue was just WOW.
I highly recommend this book just like all of her other books. I'm so glad I found her books and have had the pleasure of reading them.

Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the ground... I loved this. Frieda has become an auto read author for me and this one did not disappoint. I went into this one completely blind and I loved every minute of it. I flew through every page and I could not put this down. This is one I will be definitely recommending every chance I get.

The perfect mystery - nobody is quite what you expect and the lines between good and evil, right and wrong keeps getting blurred out.
Eve and Nate's marriage is not quite working - they are both teachers a the same high school, where Nate, the attractive English teacher who loves poetry, is universally beloved and Eve, the math teacher who is a stickler for rules and has an obsession for expensive shoes, is only liked by those that loves maths. Addie is the troubled teen with no friends, and Kenzie is the popular mean girl who makes Addie's life hell and stole her best friend Hudson!
Is it totally believable? maybe not, but it is highly entertaining and I recommend you get your hands on a copy right away.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this ARC.

This is one of my favorites! From the first line I knew I would be in for a ride. This was definitely a page turner. And as also, when it was all done, or so you think, the epilogue just blows your mind.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the early access!

The queen of twists did it again!! Coming from a huge fan of Frieda fan this was one of my favorite twists!! It kept me on my toes and like true Frieda fashion you kept guessing what was going to happen and I couldn’t have guessed the plot twist it left my jaw on the floor! If you are a fan of her this one is a must read!

This was my first Freida book and I will be going to the store today to get all of her other books!!!! This book sucked me in from the very beginning and kept me guessing! Highly recommend!

The Teacher is a fast paced thriller that will make you want to keep reading more and more. It also has such a powerful message about the vulnerability of teenagers. What I really enjoyed about the book is that each chapter had me hooked and I wanted to keep reading. I honestly didn’t like most of the characters but to be honest, Eve and Addie grew on me by the end!
As always, the twists and turns and shocking reveals were there as they always are with Freida’s books! Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I’m starting this by saying I read this book in a day. I’m an extremely slow reader so reading a 400 page book in a day is absolutely unheard of. That being said, I could not put this down. Literally was reading while making dinner.
I have this book 4.5 stars, the only reason it didn’t hit 5 stars for me is because it was a little slow to start. BUT once it hit 50% it was SO GOOD. The plot twists were absolutely crazy, THAT EPILOGUE WAS UNEXPECTED.
I love Freida Mcfadden’s writing. I love how much it hooks me in. Highly suggest reading this book!!

I think all in all this book was one I defiantly got through quickly, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. The characters I didn’t vibe with and I thought that the inappropriate relationship between the teacher/student was just a bit much for me.
Thank you NetGalley for a ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Frieda never misses. This book was thrilling, a page turner. I enjoyed this more than what I imagined & every minute of it.
