The Teacher ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a twist!!!

Eve Bennett has a good life, in fact everyone tells her how she’s so lucky all the time. She has a nice house, a good looking husband and a great job as a math teacher. The only thing she would want more of is money to splurge on her favorite thing, designer shoes. Or is it?
Addie is a student at the same high school and just happens to be in Mrs. Bennett’s class. She struggles with math (and isn’t a fan of Mrs. Bennett) but she’s super smart in English. She loves poetry and loves being in her English class. It also helps that her teacher, Mr. Bennett, is hot. She doesn’t have many friends or the best reputation at the school, especially after the scandal that happened last year. Maybe this year will be better, or at least she hopes.

I liked this one! That ending was a shocker and I had to go back a few times to reread it just to connect all the dots. Mainly because I was so shocked🤯 like really! REALLY!?! I also enjoy Freida’s books and the layout she has them in. I like the dual POVs and the now and then timelines. They are fast paced and super addicting. Some will say they are a little predictable, but I don’t care, I still like them!
I will say this book did make me mad only because of the subject that it contains with a highschooler/ teacher relationship. But there was a warning about that, in fact she even wants you to be mad about it. The author handled it with care and did not romanticize it, but portrayed it as how easily teenage brains can be manipulated by someone they trust. And she was right because I wanted to throw my kindle across the room after that ending. Ahh!!!

This book launches on February 6, 2024. Be sure to add it to your TBR, especially if you’re a Freida McFadden fan! Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press/Sourcebooks,
for my advanced readers copy this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Wow - Frieda has done it again. This could very well be her best book yet. My jaw dropped multiple times throughout the novel, and just when you thought you had it figured out - another shocking twist. When you pick-up a Freida McFadden book, you know you are in epic tell-tale that will leave you wanting more.

Eve and her husband, Nate, are teachers at a high school. Nate is a hot, handsome teacher, and the girls in the school practically swoon over him. He is friendly and helpful to the pupils.
Addie is a student in Eve's class, and also in Nate's class. She has a huge crush on Nate, but has a reputation of stalking teachers.

I heard so much about this latest Freida McFadden book.
The subject matter is touchy to say the least.
The book has everything, romance, illicit sex, attempted murder.... yes, everything contained in one book.

I did enjoy it, and devoured it almost in one sitting, as I started it at bedtime. Big mistake.
But I am left with questions. A few of them. Did Eve really not recognize Jay?

Nate's shenanigans, I mean, teenage girls talk about everything, and many of them do not listen to advice from adults! Deny everything if questioned? Hmmphh.
I know that personally, I am the worst liar. I blush and stutter, and no one would believe me if I had to lie.
I can't say more than that, as I don't want to ruin the book for anyone else.

Anyway, I did enjoy the book, and I did not guess the twist.

Well done, Freida, you have another book with someone with an obsession, this time it is shoes, not turtles!

Thanks to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read this book.

Wow!!! Freida has delivered another twisty masterpiece. The general storyline was easy to follow, and some major plot points were fairly easy to figure out ahead of time. But then you're hit with a haymaker in that epilogue. The way my jaw fell...I did not see that coming!

This book does deal with a subject that is very taboo, and that is the development of a physical and emotional relationship between a high school teacher and his 16 year old student. He tells her everything that the poor stressed out, psychologically susceptible/damaged young girl needed to hear to feel safe, loved, wanted, etc. It was so easy to take a girl that young and impressionable, who had grown up in an abusive household and was bullied at school, and make her do anything he wanted. Our MMC, Nate, is the very definition of a child groomer. Even though 16 is the age of consent in the state the story is set in, this is supposed to give you the icks when it comes to Nate's behavior. And his relationship with Addie is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the devious actions of his character.

This book was extremely fast to read through, which is something I love about Freida's books. I've read her entire catalogue, and enjoyed them all. The Teacher is a fast paced, twisty thriller, that you won't fully grasp all of until the very shocking ending.

For a high octane psychological thriller I'd give this book more than 5 stars!!! McFadden has really outdone herself with this book.! She weaves the story very slowly like a spider weaving its web and all of a sudden the story turns on a dime and it's a race to the finish! The ending is an OMG jaw dropper that you will not see coming!

I'm not sure what to say about this book. It was a fun, easy and fast read. I caught on to most of the twists early, except one. That was a fun surprise in the epilogue. As I said, it was a fun read, I kinda of knew where it was going, but interesting to see how it got there.
Thanks to netgalley, poisoned pen press, and Freida for the entertainment of the advanced read copy. Happy publishing day on 2-6-24

The Teacher by Freida McFadden: A Gripping Tale with a Twist, But Not Without Flaws
Freida McFadden's "The Teacher" is a fast-paced, suspenseful novel that will keep you guessing until the very end. The story follows Eve and Nate, a seemingly perfect teacher couple whose lives are thrown into chaos when they become entangled in a scandal involving a student named Addie.

McFadden excels at crafting a captivating narrative that weaves between the perspectives of Eve and Addie, allowing readers to delve into the complex motivations and struggles of each character. The book tackles relevant themes like power dynamics, abuse, and the #MeToo movement, adding depth and intrigue to the plot.

What I enjoyed:

The twists and turns: McFadden is known for her shocking plot twists, and "The Teacher" doesn't disappoint. The story takes you on a wild ride, keeping you guessing until the very last page.
The dual perspectives: The alternating perspectives of Eve and Addie offer a well-rounded understanding of the situation and allow for a deeper emotional connection with both characters.
The exploration of complex themes: The book delves into sensitive and thought-provoking topics, adding layers of social commentary to the thriller genre.
However, there were a few aspects that held me back from giving it a full 5 stars:

Some plot conveniences: Certain plot points felt a bit contrived or rushed, sacrificing some believability for the sake of the twists.
Character development: While both Eve and Addie are interesting characters, their motivations and personalities could have been explored further for a more impactful emotional connection.
Predictable aspects: Despite the twists, some elements of the plot were somewhat predictable, hindering the overall surprise factor. However the epilogue is crazy!!!
Overall, "The Teacher" is a thrilling and engaging read that will keep you hooked until the end. While it has some minor flaws, it's a solid choice for fans of psychological thrillers !

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

The Teacher by Freida McFadden is an unputdownable book with twists and turns. Eve and Nate’s marriage is full of lies and secrets and student Addie isn’t helping. Addie had a large scandal at school last year and just wants to move on but do her actions show that?

I read everything that Freida writes and this was one of my favorites by far! You won’t regret picking this up!

This might be my new favorite by Frieda McFadden! I’m a teacher so it was easy and fun to connect to the school setting even though, thankfully, my school does not have the drama that Caseham High has!

This thriller is told from two perspectives, Eve, a high school teacher whose husband is cheating on her, and Addie, a student who was part of a scandal the previous school year. Reading about their interactions from both Eve’s and Addie’s perspective made this hard to put down. I was trying really hard to piece things together and while I was right about a few things, there were still SO many twists that I never saw coming.

I loved this book from start to finish and it’ll be a thriller I highly recommend this year! Thanks NetGalley and Poisoned Press for sharing the early copy with me!

I know I can always count on Freida McFadden to deliver a binge-worthy thriller, and The Teacher is exactly that. McFadden's latest psychological thriller is a rollercoaster of suspense and deception.

Addie is a high school student in the center of a scandal. Eve is a math teacher who is not thrilled to see that Addie is in her class. Their lives become entangled, and dark pasts and hidden secrets start to unravel.

Freida McFadden truly keeps you guessing to the final page. Just when you think you know what’s coming, she finds a new way to shock readers to the very end. This novel is a must-read for fans of the genre.

Thank you to NetGalley, Poised Pen Press, and Frieda McFadden for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Teacher is out on 2/6/24!

OMG! Frieda does it again! Finished this book in one sitting, could not put it down. Had to pick my jaw up off the floor at the end!

Wow I did not see that last page.

Leave it to Frieda McFadden to write another great psychological thriller!

At first I thought the book was a little too predictable, well she proved me wrong. Definitely a page turner!
This book is definitely well written and has a good pace. I feel like it picks up exactly when it needs to and sucks you right in. Had a hard time putting the book down which is why I read half of it in one sitting.

I read this book through Netgalley. Thank you to Poisoned Pen Press for choosing me as one of the ARC readers.
I thought this book was enjoyable but, I'd say that most of the book was predictable; there were only two parts in the book that didn't see coming and one of them wasn't that surprising.
Personally, I wouldn't reach for this book if it were on my shelf to read again. Would I recommend it to someone? Probably not the first psycho thriller I'd recommend. I feel like the writing was a little childish. And I get that half of the book is from the perspective of a child, but even the adult to adult commentary just seems too kiddish. I noticed that for a lot of McFadden books lately.
I'd say this book was a true 3 star book. Not the greatest she's ever written but not the worst either.
Again, thank you to Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to Be an ARC reader!

The twist!!! You could say that about all of her books but what?! The plot was good, short easy to read chapters. It kept me intrigued throughout. Definitely worth the read!

(4.5 stars) The Teacher was so fast-paced and addicting, as Freida McFadden’s thrillers always are, and I flew through this one! I thought the first 3/4 of the book was pretty straightforward and I was worried that Freida had decided not to write her typical shocking twists and turns - but boy was I wrong. The ending felt like a slap in the face and made my jaw physically drop; of all the epilogues she’s written, I think it might be my new favorite!

If you’re already a fan of Freida McFadden’s writing style with short chapters, multiple perspectives, major surprises, and insane endings, her newest novel will not disappoint. The Teacher was a wild ride and I’d highly recommend it!

Do be aware that this story touches on some sensitive topics (including but not limited to a student/teacher relationship and cheating), so check all trigger warnings.

Wowwww. This was such a great read! Freida strikes again for sure. I truly could not put this book down from the moment I started it. This book follows mainly two point of views, both very engaging. The whole you are trying to find out who died and I swear I didn't predict the twists and turns at all! I think this might be my favorite freida book so far!

Freida is an “auto buy” author for me.. The Teacher had a lot of twists and turns, some of the story was a bit unbelievable and far fetched for me, but overall I ate this one up and the plot twist ending was perfection in true Frieda fashion.

3.5⭐️
Wow, this was a crazy one, but left me with mixed feelings. The Teacher is a psychological thriller that follows three different characters. Eve and Nate are a married couple who both teach at the same school. Eve is the strict unlikeable math teacher and Nate is the beloved “hot” English teacher. Their lives seem to be perfect until Addie, the student who had a scandal with the school last year, enters the picture and she can’t be trusted.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book in one sitting. Although this was a fast paced, addicting read, the story line made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It's sad that things like this actually happen in real life. The characters are unlikeable and the twists are somewhat predictable, but I was on the edge of my seat until the end. I enjoyed the different POVs. The epilogue though….really got me! I find that Freida McFadden books are either a hit or miss for me and this one was pretty average.

Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Could not put this one down! Great characters doing very inappropriate things all set in a high school full of anger, mistrust, and that's the teachers!
