Freida has done it again. This took me longer to get through then her normal book, but that's due to my job as a teacher. As soon as I read the blurb & saw the title I couldn't wait to read this. The characters were relatable and engaging. The twist at the end had my mouth hanging open!

I have been dying to get my hands on a copy of this book since I saw the first announcement. Many thanks to Freida McFadden and Poisoned Pen Press for an opportunity to read this one early.
I was a bit nervous going into this one because, as a teacher, I can be a bit finicky about the way that school culture and politics are portrayed in literature. I can quickly lose interest and engagement with a story if I find myself thinking "That would NEVER happen like that at a high school!" or "That's definitely not how that process works," but none of the depictions of the procedures or policies at the school had me doubting the realism in this one. There was *one* small scene depicting a teacher writing a note giving a student permission to go home early that made me raise an eyebrow, but I could easily chalk that up to regional differences...just because that's not how it's done at my school in CA doesn't mean they don't do things that way on the East Coast.
With that being said, Eve's shoe collection required willing suspension of disbelief in a major way, but not in a way that detracted from the story at all. Although every mention of a new pair of expensive shoes, or attempt to acquire a new pair of expensive shoes, did bring my blood pressure up a bit. And that scene in the mall sure made my anxiety spike.
As is common with Freida's books, by around the halfway point I was pretty certain I had it figured out and for the first time I was actually right! However, the Queen of Twists did not disappoint and still managed to surprise me several times in the last half, too.
This was one of my favorite Freida reads so far. It had me worried, enraged, anxious, feeling vindicated, and then full of rage again. Any book that can make me feel something so viscerally is a 5-star for me.

I have read all of Freida's books, and this one was...different.
To say I was truly surprised at the end is an understatement. I put my kindle down on my desk (because I was reading at work, I know, but hush it's the holidays) and said a couple of confused obscenities aloud. I wasn't ready for it to be over when it was, but I will think about this for a good long while. Maybe I should reread.

This is my second foray into a Freida McFadden book, and I have to say - girl knows how to hook you. What you are absolutely going to get out of one of her novels - It's going to be a super quick read, because she's always going to tell a good story. It's camp - are we jumping the shark, maybe 1, 2 or 3 times in a single novel - of course we are but that's most of the fun. You thought this was a simple story of a teacher / student love affair? Nope. There's murder and a whodunit and a half-hearted but not completely lost angle of The Raven from Poe. It's nuts. This ending made me gasp out loud and then laugh about the genius of it.
Of course what you're also going to get is a thumping over the head - there is no subtlety here. If McFadden wants you to know that someone is digging a grave she is going to DIG THAT GRAVE IN THE DARK OF NIGHT UNTIL YOU READERS GET IT! OKAY! Also, some things aren't going to quite add up - for this one in particular the main character is in love with shoes, which ends up being a repeating plot point that just can't quite stick the landing. For all the time spent talking about shoes, I'm not quite sure that the author didn't just do a google search of expensive shoe brands and leave it at that. With that being said - the author does a great job at easter eggs in this novel. A silly plot point that you thought was left in Chapter 5 suddenly makes perfect sense in Chapter 14. McFadden does a great job of pulling the reader along with them and forcing them to recognize the clues that she's done such a good job of incorporating. Always a fun reading experience!

Okay, Freida did it again. I read this in one day! Her books always tend to be page turners for me but I liked this one more than the last one that I read (The Coworker). Of course, true to her style there are parts that are way over the top and every character seems unreliable and unhinged with things they’re hiding. Right when I thought I had it all figured out, the final twist took me totally by surprise and it took me a good 10 minutes to even process it. But that’s all part of the rollercoaster ride!
Quick synopsis: Addie is starting junior year after she was involved in a scandal with a teacher, resulting in him getting fired and her reputation getting ruined. Eve and her husband Nate both teach at the same school, and while they seem happy on the surface they’re really not. All three of these characters are keeping big secrets that are all connected in some way.
Thanks to NetGalley for an early copy of this book before it’s released on February 6th!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC! If I had to pick one word to sum this one up it would be, “WOW!” Twist after Twist Freida really delivered! I was super excited for this one and I’m going as far to say it is my new favorite book of hers!

Wow, I’m shaking. I just finished reading this on my lunch break and I feel like I need to cancel the rest of my work day because how am I supposed to function after reading this?! This is absolutely Freida McFadden’s best book yet. Every part was better than the one before and the epilogue just blew me away. Incredible book.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Poisoned Pen Press for the Advance Reader copy. This is my honest review. Publication date Feb 5, 2024. 5⭐️

I will start out by saying I am a huge Freida McFan so I was very excited to receive an ARC of The Teacher! I read this book in less than 24 hours just like every other book I’ve ever read by her. She has a way of drawing her reader in and keeping them intrigued. Check your trigger warnings on this one before you embark on this journey.
Sixteen-year-old Addie is struggling with being alienated and bullied by her peers when she finds unlikely companionship in her very charming and extremely handsome English teacher, Nathanial “Nate” Bennett. The twists and turns just kept coming in true Freida style. By the end of the book, I swear my mouth was just hanging open. Like what did I just read?!? 🤣
Freida is the queen!

Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book from Freida McFadden! I think it’s even better than The Housemaid! I did not see that final twist coming at all! I loved the alternating POVs throughout the book!!

Wow ! Freida does it again. The plot twists at the end were just wild. I never saw it coming. I’m not usually a fan of books about teacher and student relationships but I couldn’t put this book down.

This was another wonderful book by Mc Fadden. It kept me guessing throughout the entire book. The Teacher was an amazing book and I highly recommend it. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Freida McFadden never fails to deliver. Once again, she has produced a thriller that absolutely smacks you in the face with a jaw dropping final twist of all twists. I did NOT see that coming!!!
This book is a lot darker than her previous ones, and the theme throughout is made even more scary by the fact that it’s believable and this sort of horrendous crime really does exist in real life.
In true Freida fashion, the chapters are short, engaging and enticing… “one more chapter” evoking, that leaves you still awake at 3am, wanting more.
This has to be one of my favourite books this year. 2024’s must read if you like a fast paced psychological thriller.
An absolutely well deserved 5 stars from me.
A huge thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for granting my wish for an advanced copy.

Oh Freida, never stop writing thrillers. This one was probably my favorite of hers so far. Better than The Housemaid! Told in intersecting points of view of Eve (a high school math teacher) and Addie (a high schooler), this one will keep you on your toes with VARIOUS twists at the end!

This was absolutely fabulous !
I was jaw-dropping almost every chapter with the fantastic McFadden style of twist signature
This one follows the life of Eve and Nate, a teacher-married couple at high school and a “problematic” young student Addie
It was a fantastic ride with twist after twist..
Thank you poisonedpenpress for the ARC!

Just finished! Now, what do I do?
I love that I’m provoked to thinking a lot after finishing this book!
This gross story called The Teacher was fabulous!
Sick? Yes. Infuriating? Umm, yeah! Twisted and shocking to the core? Completely! A thriller at its best! It’s yet another great, quick read with plenty of twists (that I never saw coming) by Freida McFadden. Bravo, as always, girl!

I found this novel to be the juicy pallet cleanser airplane read that I wanted it to be. Highly improbably and unrealistic, but definitely a fast moving page turner. Mostly predictable but much to my delight, the author pulled out a final surprising twist. If you enjoy scandalous Lifetime movies, this may be the book for you! Thank you to NetGalley for an arc of this novel- pub date: 2/6/24

Great one by Freida McFadden with a truly excellent final twist. Ive read and enjoyed many Fredia books and this is one my favorites.

I was very excited to receive an advanced copy of The Teacher as I am a huge fan of Frieda McFadden and an educator. The book had the typical shock factor at the end, but other than that I felt like it just read as a typical mystery.
I will still continue to be a McFadden fan and read everything she writes!!
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my ARC.

Freida McFadden....the name should be at the top of everyone's list for twisty, FANTASTIC reads!!! "The Teacher" is another winner!!!

I'm left a little speechless right now. I am a hard-core Freida fan, and as usual, this book was beyond amazing! The very end left my head spinning. It came out of left field, smacked me across the face, and it was over. I never saw it coming! Great job, Freida! I know for a fact that I will never be disappointed with anything she writes!
