I didn’t think I could get more emotional from this series and then I did! These stories were the perfect cherry on top of the original duology, which was perfection on its own. I loved getting to hear things from her mothers point of view and actually getting to see the moment Wenzhi remembered his past life. I was sobbing and already wanted to dive into a reread of the duology. I’m so grateful the author decided to do these short stories!

Sue Lynn Tan's writing entices me to watch a fantasy C-drama. Reading the Tales of the Celestial Kingdom has me wanting more from this author. It has been fun looking to see who has been reading this installment on social media.

I can't wait to see what this author publishes next!

This was such an amazing read! I really enjoyed this book and was immediately swept in by the first chapter. I liked how the author carried the story in a way that wasn't slow or boring. I will be recommending this book to all my friends and family.

As always Sue Lynn Tan knocks it out of the park. Gorgeous writing, entrancing plots, and filled with myth and lore, if you've read anything of this author and enjoyed it--this is a must-read (and a must-purchase, as proceeds go straight to charity.) This book only enriches the narrative of the original duology, and I loved every moment of it.

Those who enjoyed the Celestial Kingdom duology will enjoy this collection of related stories. It aligns well.

I feel so honored to be one of the first to read "Tales of the Celestial Kingdom" by Sue Lynn Tan, which is a continuation of the Celestial Kingdom duology. With these untold stories we get a greater understanding of the characters as well as the world as a whole. I'm once again awed at how beautiful Sue Lynn Tan's writing is. Her prose are exquisite, and match the theme's of the book so well.

This book is broken up into three stories, Dusk, Twilight, and Dawn.

Dusk (from the perspectives of Chang'e, and Houyi)

I found this story important because it helps the reader understand the motivations of the characters going into "Daughter of the Moon Goddess". Getting to witness the fight between Houyi and the sun birds was a highlight.

Twilight (from the perspectives of Liwei, Wenzhi, and Shuxiao)

I enjoyed seeing these scenes from a different perspective than we originally did. It added very important context to the scenes. I wish these stories were more cohesive with each other.

Dawn (from the perspectives of Wenzhi, and Xingyin)

Screaming, crying, throwing up. The ending that we deserve.

Sue Lynn Tan's Daughter of the Moon Goddess duology is one of my faves, and I loved the way Heart if the Sun Warrior ended. So to get more of that universe, especially the Liwei/Xingyin /Wenzhi chapters is just a bonus. And this extension is as exquisitely written as the duology, so it's just a happy experience! Love that Sue decided to continue and give us more!
