That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf is the second installment in Mead Mishaps series, a collection of fantasy romcoms. I don’t want to go into too many plot details so I don’t spoil the first one, but suffice it to say that the title pretty much sums it up.

Like the first one, it is laugh out loud funny, the characters are lovable, the pacing is great, and it is perfectly spicy. However, I did like this one more because most of the world building and character introductions were done in book one and the outside conflict here was smaller, so there was a lot more time to just spend with the characters.

I loved the fun meta moments - Brie is a monster romance girlie living out her own monster romance - and the hilarious talking sword named Alexis.

The only thing that I didn’t love was the fated mates trope. I’m not the biggest fan of instalove, but that is more of a personal preference.

Thank you NetGalley and Orbit for an advanced reader copy.

There is a reason this series became the mega-hit with fans that it did. This world, these characters, this stormy, all of it is so charming. Our leading lady for this story, is Brie, a cheesemonger, naturally, and while fighting off a suitor trying to give her a suspicious potion, she yeets that potion onto the head of a passing werewolf. After this, it’s mates at first sight. Well, at least for our poor Felix, it is. Felix is a lactose intolerant werewolf who will stop at nothing to please his mate. The issue is that Brie doesn’t know if this intensity is coming from an actual mate bond or the non-consensual love potion.

Felix is the king of pampering and caring for his lady and I ate up every moment of him desperately trying to convince Brie that they were the real thing. Despite Brie wanting to hold out to make sure it was consensual, this werewolf smut loving woman really hit the jackpot.

Lemming’s books are so fun and silly and sweet and steamy - you can’t help but keep turning the pages. (Seriously, tell me if you get to Baraku and the pygmy goat scene and you’re not 1000% on board with what Lemming is selling).

Reading this second installment has me so ready for the next exploration of this hilarious and wonderful world Lemming has created. I would loooveeeeee if we got a story with Captain Usha. Or if our favourite barkeeper Sunbeam got a romance with Balablash? Ahh there’s just so much to love and I’m so excited for all of it!

PS - with this new cover, Felix totally gives us Astarion vibes, right???

*I received an eARC from Orbit & NetGalley. All opinions are my own.*

This series continues to be far-fetched fantasy romance fun! Absolutely incredible title for a book, and what you see is what you get: the “oops I hit a werewolf with a love potion” plot starts on practically the first page and gets increasingly bonkers as the book goes on. I enjoy Lemming’s humour and imagination, which elevate the novel even if there are inconsistencies or events that feel a little too convenient; the writing is self-aware in its silliness, which makes it all the more enjoyable. An entertaining read for those who like lots of comedy with their romance.

Thanks to Orbit Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf by Kimberly Lemming is the second book in the Mead Mishap series. While there is some significant character and world building crossover with the first book in the series, reading out of order is possible and will just inspire readers to go back and read the first book.

Cheesemaker Brie has the world’s worst luck in love, which is how she ends up falling for a lactose intolerant werewolf. Brie’s never been particularly coordinated, or lucky. Who else would accidentally throw a drink at someone’s head only to miss entirely and hit a stranger behind them? And who else would have that stranger fall madly in love with them because it turns out that the drink she threw was a love potion? Yeah, probably just Brie. Running her cheese business and dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, she has to convince a werewolf that she’s not really his fated mate. Though even she’s got to admit, having a gorgeous man show up and do all her chores while telling her she’s beautiful isn’t the worst thing to happen to a girl.

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf is a fun and irreverent fantasy romance with just as much humor and heat as the first book in the series. I loved Brie's character, she is fairly level headed and is always trying to do the right thing, even when that stops her from doing she really wants to do- like a sexy werewolf. The expansion of the demon lore in this world- and how mates and all that work in different species is covered a bit, along with how some of the bigger magic that has effected the stories thus far came about. There is action and adventure, and a great deal of humor, as Brie works towards her happy ending. I think that Lemming has found the prefect balance of laughing at and celebrating this subgenre- and I am here for all of it. I look forward to finding and reading more from them.

Brie, a cheese maker, must resist the advances of Felix, a werewolf, until she knows if he likes her for real or is under a love spell. I loved seeing all the interactions between Brie and book 1 characters. The action and mystery were my favorite part. Once again the food descriptions had me drooling. A grilled cheese sandwich is in my future very soon.

This book was even better than the first. There's more action, more romance, more world-building! In all ways, there's simply MORE! Felix is precious, and as a monster-romance reader I value the reenactment scene. (If you know, you know.) I don't think there's as much spice, but the romance makes up for it.

The style of writing isn't for everyone. I, personally, loved the writing. It's very conversational. That's not to say it's dialogue heavy, but it is written as we would talk. (At least, how I would talk.) It's not heavy on description, and the sentence structure is more simplified as a result. That's a good thing in my mind! It makes for a lighter read! This is something I value in a book of this nature. I don't want heavy descriptions or complex words when I really just want to enjoy the fun.

All in all, I'm fascinated by Alexis and how she came to be. I hope she's part of Book 3! I don't know who the antagonist could be - though if it's about Alexis, then I can assume it's the fox demon. We'll see! In the meantime, I'm here for the wild ride!

Thank You, NetGalley!

'That Time I got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf' is just as hilarious as it's title. If you're looking for a lighthearted, quirky read that is also spicy, this book is a great choice. I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the series after reading this book.

This is not a cozy fantasy romance. If you’re looking for that stick with legends and lattes. This is the perfect mix of spicy and fantasy. I love her main female characters. They aren’t flat or need saving. I’m in love with the new covers.

Brie, a lover of shifter romance books, accidentally throws a love potion at an adorable werewolf shifter. What could possibly go wrong?
This book was adorable and so funny with just the right amount of spice. I really enjoyed the author's humor and I am so happy that I discovered this series. It gives the coziness of "Legends and Lattes" while still managing to keep you on your toes with the romance. Will definitely check the other books in the series!

That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf by Kimberly Lemming
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just like the first book in the Mead Mishaps series, this sequel is a ridiculous and fun read. I believe I described the first book as a romcom on crack and you know what? That description applies to this one too!
This story follows Brie who, you guessed it, accidentally throws a love potion at a werewolf. What follows is a lot of attraction between two people, a search for a way to reverse the potion, and a mystery enforcing missing women.
There are quite a few tropes in here and the book is aware of it, and even pokes some fun at itself and the romance genre by having Brie be an avid reader (monster romance to be specific). I found all the characters in this story incredibly lovable and the setting cozy and magical.
This book was a bit too smutty for my personal taste, but so was the first one so I don’t fault the book for that, that’s just a me thing. I enjoy the overall story enough that I’m able to put that to the side a bit. If you do love smut in books though I highly recommend this series though haha!

Thank you to the author, @orbitbooks_us and netgalley for this arc in return for my honest review!

I think I have decided that this romance series might truly be the cozy romance fantasy series that we have dreamed of. It balances smutty scenes with a plot that always is wildly intriguing and engaging, a full recommend and must read for the romantacy readers

I loved the universe that Kimberly Lemming created. It's just SO much fun.

The Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf takes place right after the events of The Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon. Side note, I love these wordy titles. This time we are following cheese loving Brie as she accidentally throws a love potion at Felix, a werewolf. He immediately connects with her but is it because he's bonded with Brie or is it because of the love potion.

There are so many cheesy puns in this book, which add to the delight. Not to mention Felix is allergic to dairy. Brie is also a fan of monster romances so the book makes light of itself many times. Honestly I loved this book more than the first book in the series. Unlike other series that can be read in any order, these books should be read in order as they grapple with a big side story, and villain, throughout.

Thank you to Orbit Books for a copy in exchange for review consideration.

This was cute. This whole series is super cute. It reminds me a lot of the Ice Planet Barbarians series, easy to read, flies right by, don't think too much about it.

So I adored both Felix and Brie and the utter ridiculousness of this world. I did not enjoy the danger bit and found it a bit eye rolling. However I will definitely keep reading in this world.

3.75 stars rounded up to 4!

This was such a fun little fantasy romance and I'm glad I went in with almost no expectations. I thought the romance was quick, but fun, and I liked all of the side characters as well as the little sub fantasy plot. I think the only thing is that for me personally I can't become completely connected to characters in a novella format but I will definitely be continuing in the series.

Rating: Loved It, 4.5 stars

This was such a fun follow up to That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon. In this we follow Felix and Brie, friends of Cin and Fallon's. He imprints on his mate, but she also accidentally doused him in a love potion, so how are we to know what is real and what is a result of the potion?

I had a blast with this one! It was just as much fun as the first book, but I liked it more. I think that Felix is just such a cinnamon roll, and I loved him so much! I also appreciated that we just got to chill out in Boohail the entire time rather than questing across the cosmos. I enjoyed Brie and Felix's banter and their chemistry. I was definitely rooting for them as a couple.

As in the first book, it's very much an instant connection, but I again didn't mind it at all. I think that this was probably had some more spice than the first one, but it was a grand time. I thought it was sort of funny how Brie is a monster smut reader, and I enjoyed the little nods to that throughout.

The thing that kept it from being a full 5 stars was the random, super cringey scene where she defeated the baddie with her recitations of smut? It was so weird, and it was definitely the worst part of the whole series so far. But it was small and was over quickly, so that was good!

Overall, this is a fun, quick read, and I recommend it if you are looking for some fun, fantasy smut!
