These sweet drawings are absolutely adorable! I had so much fun looking over this book and can't wait to learn to draw all of them. Coloring these is super fun!

When I was a kid/high schooler, I really enjoyed doodling. However, I was also a weird kid with anarchistic tendencies who would doodle really strange, occasionally disturbing things that did actually once get me sent to the guidance counselor once because I doodled on the back of test papers when I would finish early.

Mind you, NONE of what I drew was especially good. I have no talent, whatsoever. I draw bunnies regularly and most times, they are unrecognizable.

If I had had books like these, I would not have been sent to the guidance counselor. Because I would've doodled these ridiculously cute foods and household items and everything else nonstop.

This is a fun little drawing book that will be especially helpful for people who want to just see inspiration pictures and have basic drawing experience. It is in the style of draw these basic shapes, then erase and change it into these shapes, and then presto, it looks like this at the end. That might not be enough for beginners. There are lots of ideas though if you're looking for tons of examples of cute things.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

I have such a fun time drawing through this book! I actually feel like I learn something, although I'm not good at all at the moment. It would be great if we could upload our sketches here. I hope you could make more books like this.

Do you care to draw adorable things?
Illustrator and graphic designer Olga Ortiz presents her book ""Sweet Drawing. Learn to draw more than 150 adorable things", published by Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster. The books is set up in two parts: 1) Materials & Techniques, and 2) Let's Draw, which is subdivided into eight topics such as "In the Kitchen", "Cute Animals", "In School", or "Sweet Drawing Through the Season". In the introduction Ortiz states: "I love nothing more than to settle down with my sketchpad and a cup of tea and draw simple, sweet motifs: it’s a great way to unwind. My aim is to capture a little bit of that relaxed atmosphere in this book. Then, with a little bit of practice, you too will be able to draw the same sweet motifs in just a few steps. You don’t need any fancy tools and you don’t even need to be particularly good at drawing—all you need is the desire to learn!" (p. 5). She presents her favorite materials which are mechanical pencil, alcohol markers, and colored pencils, and even adds tips to her instructions for drawing. The various steps are well explained and contain also easy-to-follow instructions. Although the book is aimed at children, and I highly recommend it for them, adults can also glean valuable ideas from the book.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is a great guide to creating cute illustrations. It ranges from animals to kitchen appliances and everything in between. It provides step-by-step techniques to let your creativity flourish.

I want to preface this review by saying that I absolutely loved the artist's style and the illustrations were so cute. Definitely great inspiration pieces. As for the instructional content, however, I was left feeling like something was missing. In most instances, the illustrations were 1, 2, 3, done. For a beginner like me, that type of instruction is extremely difficult to follow. I ended up lost and frustrated as to how to actually draw the images. I would still recommend this book to those that enjoy this art style, but maybe not as an instructional guide.

Lots of sweet idea. For someone like me that would like to draw, but isn’t too good at it and need a bit more hand holding this is probably not the best book. The drawings have 3 stages, and I need a bit more help to get from the start to the end. But a good inspiration book.

If you’re looking for a good starting place for learning to draw, this may be the book for you! Inside, you will find 100+ simple and absolutely adorable things to draw. Whether you’re new to drawing or looking to enhance your drawings and doodles, this is an excellent book. It’s also simple enough for younger artists to work with!

One of the things I like about this book is that it’s very encouraging whether you’re not the best at drawing or have some skills under your belt. The pressure one puts on oneself is real, and this book lifts some of that pressure! I also love the materials and techniques section. I never thought about doing sketches with colored pencils before, so I’m going to have to try that!

The sketching tips and tutorials are absolutely wonderful. I remember drawing classes in college and how drawing tips, tricks, and new techniques were often a secret like a good hand of cards being held very close to one’s chest during a poker game. You won’t find that attitude here, and the tutorials are very well laid out and easy to understand. It’s why I think it’ll be great for older elementary school kids who are into drawing. It’s simple enough that it won’t overwhelm them, but there are excellent tips that can help kids learn new techniques and continue to form their artistic styles. It’s also excellent for adults because who doesn’t like to learn new things about drawing, no matter the age? Sometimes we just want to learn something new and this is a great book for that.

This book is really cute and sweet. It shows simple shapes and how to turn into detailed drawings.
My daughters and I had a lot of fun going through the pages and trying our own drawings although a few extra steps or instruction could have been added, I think would have been somewhat beneficial.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed " Sweet Drawing". Perfect for all ages as a beginner to drawing simple and cute objects.

Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto publishing group for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book is way too cute. The drawings are super adorable and the steps are simplified and easy to follow for kids, beginners, as well as artists who are interested in this style of drawing. The instructions begin from basic shapes to the final drawing, i wish there was more on the coloring though. I spent an afternoon at a café replicating the drawings using an brush pen and a sketchbook and it was so much fun. I definitely went to follow the author on instagram after finishing the book

Fun ideas for doodling. Great gift for artistic kids or teens. Some of the techniques could be hard for very beginners (like me). Who doesn’t want to doodle some cute sweets? Much less calories.
