Lovedddd this book and the narrator. It kept me guessing the whole time! A couple things I guessed but they were revealed in a way that was still shocking! And there were plenty of other twists and turns I would have never seen coming!!

Reading Between the Wines book review #114/115 for 2023:
Rating: 4 🍷🍷🍷🍷
Book: Finders Keepers
Author: Charlie Gallagher
Available Now!!

Sipping thoughts: In normal Barelli fashion, all is not what it seems. I am pretty sure none of us would want someone to read our diary, our most personal inner thoughts. But would you do anything to get it back? Well, Rose is in that predicament and Emily could possibly be at risk. I loved all the twists and didn’t expect any one of them. Can’t wait to see what Barelli produces next.

Cheers and thank you to @DreamscapeMedia and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @FindersKeepers.

I generally love a Natalie Barelli book, but this one didn't quite live up to her other works. I had two reasons for this: it wasn't believable and it wasn't memorable

Finding a laptop and keeping it? Plausible. Deciding to publish the only document on it almost verbatim? Not plausible. Yes there are a few people who might do it, but not generally intelligent people who want to get attention like Emily. The whole convoluted way of going about retrieving the laptop and why is also very far fetched. If the document could be published believably as a work of fiction, then why would anyone believe it was true as Rose fears?

The characters were not memorable. They were not bad characters, they just didn't stand out for me like Barelli's characters usually do. The twists were fairly obvious as well, making the book entertaining, but nothing to write home about.

This book was so unhinged and off-the-wall. I loved it! No surprised there as I have read and loved all of Barelli's work. This is the first book of hers that I did via audio and the narrator absolutely crushed it. She really brought the characters to life, especially the unlikable ones. I loved not really knowing where the book was going, having theories, being wrong, rinse and repeat. This is definitely a book I haven't read before and I always appreciate that! That first big twist! Didn't see that coming at all. This is a popcorn thriller through and through, but it will also make you furious and laugh too. I wish I had more Barelli to read because I forgot how much I love her writing, but now I'll just patiently wait for her next!

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for my ALC!

Gah! This book had me up ALL NIGHT!

Rose kept a diary on her laptop, full of secrets...it IS a diary after all. But after her laptop goes missing, and later a best selling book called "Diary of an Octopus" makes its way into the hands and hearts of reader, Rose needs to do all she can to get close to this so-called author, Emily. It is HER life that making its rounds and people are talking!

Ok...holy twists and turns batman! This was one of those books where you thought you new, then new information had you questioning everything until NEW information comes along and then you deep into it because you need to find out what in the actual!!

That's all.

Please read...or listen. It was fantastically deranged. And I loved it.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced listeners copy of this book!

What would you do if someone made your diary into a novel?

Rose had lost her laptop a few years ago at the airport. She was unaware that this one mistake would change her life forever. Her laptop contained her diary, where she wrote her deepest thoughts and secrets. Now, someone has transformed her diary entries into a full-length novel. She must locate this author and retrieve her laptop before her darkest secret is revealed to the world.

The story completely enthralled me. There were so many unexpected twists and turns! I didn't want to put the novel down! Highly recommend it to fans of psychological thrillers.

*** Thank you to NetGalley, Natalie Barelli, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a wild ride ride and I was convinced Rose was a sociopath, but was very surprised to find she was convinced by an outside person to believe she was. The cast of characters were all crazy in their own ways and all could have been guilty of crazy things. This book had me guessing for a while and it was such a ride.

As a teenager, Rose kept a diary detailing the relationship she had with a teacher. The account is almost exclusively true, until the end it gets a little embellished. She could never write the real ending.... she'd be in jail. Years later, after losing the laptop, Rose sees an author has obviously found and published the diary, leaving Rose desperate to get her hands on the laptop before anyone connects the diary to her, her past, and the crime she thought she left behind.

I loved this one! As always with Natalie Barelli, this book jumps right in, grabs your attention and holds it through a number of big twists and turns. I highly recommend this one for fans of Frieda McFadden since it's the same quick-moving twisted story!

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. When Rose was 13 years old she had a crush on her teacher and he encouraged Rose to keep a journal on a laptop that he provided for her. to help her with getting her thoughts out on paper and her writing skills. What Rose didn't know was that he was monitoring everything that she wrote in that journal by syncing it to his computer. So he led Rose on and started acting out on what Rose was writing in her journal. Fast forward to present day and Rose happens to see a new book release at the bookstore and is horrified to find that the book is her entire journal written out for all the world to see. How can this be? How did the author Emily get a copy of Rose's personal journal and why did she publish it as her own. I am a huge fan of Natalie Barelli and she does not disappoint again with this one. The twists and turns that kept coming just when I thought I had it all figured out kept me wanting to listen on. The narrator was easy to listen too as well which always helps. Enjoy!!!

The story flowed well and I enjoyed the narration on the audiobook. I enjoyed the twists and turns. It did feel a bit slow at times but overall I enjoyed this book and the plot.

Well, that was an interesting read. I listened to the audiobook. The narration was a bit annoying at times. Just the voice of one person was annoying, but I also thought that character was annoying to begin with so maybe they did a good job on the narration after all.
The storyline was good but went a totally different direction than I thought it would.

This is an interesting read where at times, you want to shout at Emily and then Rose (aka Iris) as Rose sees Sweet Emily had found her lost laptop at the airport. However, when Emily used Rose's diary and publish a “fictional” book, "Diary of an Octopus" Rose panicked as she wrote about her affair with a certain someone and killing of that person's wife. Rose literally embedded herself into Rose's life and goes to great lengths to get that laptop back.

The interaction between Emily and Rose/Iris is like a psychotic ping pong match. Both are bat s#^+ crazy. The question is, who’s crazier? That’s part one and told from Rose’s point of view.

The second half of the book is told from the teacher, Mr. B’s point of view. This is the teacher who Rose/Iris referenced and was infatuated with. Like heavily and creepily intoxicated with.

You just can’t stop yourself from being drawn in, as many times I screamed, “if I hear one more ‘sweetie’ out of Em’s mouth…”

Truly the best of who’s gaslighting who and a great physiological thriller. Exceptionally addictive.

I loved the narrator. She did a fantastic job bringing all the characters to life. She had me hating and then feeling sorry, and back to despising those characters again. Brilliant and no small feat.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for their e-audio copy for an honest review.

This was such a treat! Loved this twisty and twisted story of a girl trying to escape her past.... but does she really know her past? Rose, aka Iris (depending on who you ask) sees the title of her high school diary on display on a bookshelf one day, she realizes her most private thoughts (which had been lost on a misplaced laptop) have now been published as fiction under a stranger's name for all the world to see. Rose, in a panic, devises a plan to get close to the writer and get her laptop back, before she can be caught for the terrible crime her diary implicates her in. But is it possible she is not really the perpetrator of the crime?

This was a really well-written twisty story, not completely realistic but plotted well and hilarious and well-narrated, so I completely went with it. This book is the definition of "unputdownable" and has a perfect conclusion. Highly recommend Natalie Barelli and this book in particular! Can't wait for the next audiobook from this talented, scary, and funny author.
